First time playing out

I play an open mic night on Wednesdays where the host is a good friend of mine. I asked ahead, if it would be OK if I brought my S1 out and set it up independent of his PA so I could try it in a live setting. He said no problem. This is a small bar/restaurant that has a good crowd this week. I set the S1 on a small speaker stand off to the right of the tiny stage, hooked up my SM58 and put it on a mic stand behind the performance area. Also attached a 1/4 inch cable for my guitar. I had...Read More...

Battery Behavior

I have two S1 Pros. When I got my first one, I charged it fully and used it for several shows (I'm a magician and I use it for a vocal mic and background music from an iPod). When I finished my third show, it was down to flashing twice which is supposed to mean 25% to 49% battery life. I didn't use it for five days and then turned it on for a show. It was completely dead. I plugged it in and used it with AC. I called Bose to see what tech support would say about it because that's not the...Read More...

B1 for sub

I just ordered S1 pro , my question is , can i use my B1 sub with it and how to connect them . Answer is greatly appreciated SidRead More...
Hi Sid, Great question. The B1 bass module is only compatible with the full-size L1 systems (L1 Classic, L1 Model 1S, L1 Model II). The B1 bass module is powered by a dedicated amplifier that is built-in with the L1 systems. The S1 Pro system is engineered to deliver great balanced sound without a separate bass module. It doesn't have an extra amplifier built-in for a B1. As a matter of interest, the B1 bass module has two 5.25 inch drivers. The S1 Pro has one 6 inch driver. For more detail...Read More...

How do I know if my S1 Pro firmware is up to date?

Hi Tony, If you are using the Bose Connect App, tap the gear icon at the top right. Then tap PRODUCT INFO The latest firmware version is 7.0.10 If the firmware is not up to date, the App should automatically update the unit. Or you can update the S1 Pro system with a MAC or PC. Go to http://btu.bose.com and follow the prompts on the screen. More information here: S1 Pro System Updates Does that help? STRead More...

S1Pro with Acoustic Bass Guitar

Hi everyone...new here. I am a professional bassist recently relocated from California to New Orleans. One of my intentions on moving here was to busk as a solo bassist. I have done many, many gigs as a solo bassist (not an oxymoron...think of the bass equivalent of chord/melody gtr playing), but the challenge of playing on the street sans electricity left scarce options for suitable amplification. There are very few battery pwred amps which are touted to be "bass amps".....and those few...Read More...
As you said, the 27.5Hz through 2 S1 pros didn't exactly get through to shake the walls. But the essential character of the bass came through with enough low end to be effective for a small group... I think the next trick I'll perform will be to take my 2 S1s and the very light, collapsible speaker stands I've got coming this Friday up to my favorite club in town and use it instead of the rather drab sounding system they have. They're running an older Yamaha mixer/amp into a pair of 802s...Read More...

Cover / Back Pack

Note impressed . Purchased my S1 in June so I am out of luck for the back pack. I am surprised the S1 did not come with a padded cover of some sort like the L1. The price for the back is unreasonable $175 US !! That is over 25% of the value of the unit. Bose pays a small fraction of this to have the back pack manufactured. I must be missing something ?Read More...

We use dual Bose S1 Pro's over Behringer 500 Watt Sub's for our small DJ system. I personally love the combination, the twelve inch subs seem to really pair well with the S1 Pro's. S1 Pro gig report Christmas Eve

troubador
Merry Christmas to all ... I thought I'd drop a line in about how the S1 did last evening. My Dad asked me to accompany him on a carol at his church's Carol Service which was held last evening. I decided to try my S1 on a speaker stand. Wow! Very different sound (in a good way!) from the way I've been using it so far (on the ground, tilted back). The church is - I'm guessing here - about 70' long and 40' wide. There must have been around 100 people there. I put the S1 on a stand close to the...Read More...

Is this a bug in the App, S1, both or is this how it's supposed to work?

I used two S1s at my gig last weekend and ran in stereo through the app. I played music from my iPhone, which was connected via Bose Connect. I set the bluetooth speaker volumes the same and their volume was equal. I ran two mics and an acoustic guitar through my T1 mixer, then trs from the T1 to the first S1 and then TRS from the output of the first S1 to the second. HOWEVER, when I turned the channel 1 volume up on the first S1, the volume of bluetooth music on the second S1 got much...Read More...
Hi DavidE2, I understand why you want a different behaviour. For your application, you can get the result you want by turning off the connection between the S1 Pro systems. Turn down the channel from the line out from the first S1 Pro system, on the second S1 Pro system. For example: if you are connecting to the second S1 Pro system with channel 1, turn channel 1 down when you are playing canned music. It's an added inconvenience, but you're probably only doing that a few times per show. The...Read More...

Shure SM48 or Shure SM58 for use with the S1 Pro system?

Guys, i bought a Shure SM48 with the S1 Pro, any huge difference between SM48 and SM58 to consider changing to SM58?Read More...
I've been using my SM58 with my S1 and like the sound. The other evening I pulled out my Beta 58a and tried it with the S1 - woo hoo - what a difference!! I was delightfully surprised at how much better it sounded with the S1. Will use the Beta 58a for my (nearly 92 year old) Dad to sing at his Carol Service while I use the SM58 for myself. And instead of my L1M2, I'll be using the S1 Pro on a stand. @Talismic Good choice with the Beta 58a.Read More...

Low hum sound using an instrument cable

When I plug in an instrument cable into either input from an acoustic guitar I'm hearing a low hum sound. It's get louder as I turn the volume up louder. It occurs both on AC power and on battery. I've tried multiple instrument cables. I've plugged it into multiple outlets in the house. I've used multiple acoustic guitars with active pickups. If I plug in a microphone into either input I'm not hearing the low hum at all only instrument cables. Is this normal or do I need to send in for...Read More...

Using S1 Pro with L1 to reach areas the L1 cannot

I bought the S1 for a monitor off of my L1 to reach areas the tower cannot. I have 2 gigs that require it. One is a gig in the summertime where we play inside an airconditioned Inn but they want sound pumped out to a deck where people are also sitting. We run a line out from the L1 to the S1 on a tripod. The 2nd gig is where we again play inside and directly behind us is an area with picnic tables. We again put the S1 on a tripod and now have 360-degree coverage.Read More...

BLUETOOTH WITH L1 COMPACT

Greetings, TequilaTom. Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Unfortunately, no. The SoundTouch Wireless Link Adapter is a Bluetooth receiver. It does not transmit audio via Bluetooth. You would need a Bluetooth Transmitter to do what you've described. A wired connection might be more appropriate. Bluetooth introduces signficant latency. That is, the sound heard at the far end of the connection arrives late. This is not a problem if the listener at the far end cannot...Read More...

S1 on a trade show floor

Hi All, I'm using the S1 next week for the first time and I'm a bit of an AV noob looking for advice and things to watch out for. The setting: A 10x10 tradeshow booth next to about a 200 other booths of various sizes (we're on the smaller side) with 40,000 software developers walking through. The goal: Most of the time, we'll be using the S1 to amplify an engineer giving a demo to 4 to 10 people. However, we have several times where we could easily have 30 to 50 people gathered around our...Read More...

Success/failure stories

I am playing a venue tonight and will use my L1M2, B1, T8S (guitar and vocals only). Sometimes I wonder if my S1 Pro will handle some of my bigger gigs. I often think I can get away with using the S1 instead of hooking up the L1M2... But always chicken out.
