Comparing the S1 Pro and L1 Model II with T1 - male vocal

ST
Just for fun, I recorded a comparison of the S1 Pro and L1 Model II. Here are the details. Microphone: ElectroVoice N/D767a L1 Model II with T1 and 2xB1 Preset: Vocal Mics/Handheld Mics S1 Pro Preset: Mic Recorded at 5 feet from the recording microphones to reduce room noise. Recording setup: Recording Microphones: Two Cliff Mics RM1 Interface: T8S ToneMatch Mixer USB to PC channel 1 Left, channel 2 Right Microphones were side-by-side so you won't hear any stereo separation. Bose Connect App Feature Requests and Suggestions

ST
Let's use this topic to capture our ideas for feature requests and suggestions for the Bose Connect App . Tell us what you would like to see added, and why. Sadly I would like to see a complete overhaul on this model. By Manual I mean USER'S ability to override and tweek . 1-Manual three band EQ on all channels. 2-Manual notch filter for tweaking feedback. 3-Phantom power switch for mics on all channels 4-Deceint fx on all channels 5-Expand FX = reverb, chorus, tremolo, delay, flange, compression 6-Master Volume 7- FX loop 8-DI out Once these things are added then the S1 will become a singer/songwriter, busking amp which can be used as a PA or...Read More...

Anyone try using the S1 as a floor monitor for outdoors performances, such as weddings and crowd events? How many instruments do you find you can monitor through it? We're going to try monitoring our sax quartet/quintet and a jazz trio, and wonder if one is enough or we need two, given the musicians are tightly packed and source volume is low.Read More...
Good to know! I might have placed it horizontally, thinking that would get more horizontal dispersion. But now I'll place the S1 vertically to try it as a group monitor. Since we sit in a semicircle, we ought to be able to get within 120 degrees of each other. Regarding hearing individuals vs the group, we don't really need to hear our individual horn more than we do anyway by being the one playing it -- it's more to hear how we sound in the mix (which we can then adjust with our playing or...Read More...

Using S1 Pro as a stage monitor

I have my first gig this Sat with my L1 Compact and T1. I have been using it a lot at home but won't have a chance to try it at the venue until sound check the afternoon before the show (rectangular building...20 x 60 and stage is at the small end of the rectangle looking down towards the bar). If I need to use a monitor with my L1 Compact (using Line out of the L1) due to feedback at high volume I would like to use my S1 Pro as a monitor. Question is could I use the S1 behind me and off to...Read More...

Phantom Power adapter for the S1 Pro (not battery powered mixer)

ST
I use a Neumann KMS 105 with my ToneMatch mixer (to L1 Model II or L1 Compact). This microphone requires phantom power so I can't use it with the S1 Pro. Although I get great results with various dynamic microphones I'd still like to use the KMS with the S1 Pro. I haven't found an inexpensive battery powered phantom power supply but Heinz just wrote about this The Mackie M48 battery powered phantom power supply in his post Bose S1 headset (German content). Has anyone tried the Mackie M48? Do...Read More...
Good point! I'll let you know how it goes using the S1 as a floor monitor. Sound pressure from an acoustic sax ensemble is probably quite a bit lower than 4-5 electric guitars, so that's in our favor. It's closer to a string quartet than a rock band for sure. We sit in a semicircle, and will be running our clip-on condenser mics into the Behringer 1002B for a mix, then out to two powered Samson 106w speakers pointed at the audiences on the DC Wharf, at farmers markets, and other outdoor...Read More...

Hi Josh.Spurlock, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. I'm glad you're here. Sure. Use an 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve to XLR cable. You'll have the low end frequencies (below 90 Hz) coming from both the S1 Pro and the Behringer B1200D so you'll need to experiment with the settings on the Behringer unit. My S1 Pro Battery Test & Review

Musicianthomas
With S1 Pro threads all over the place wasn't quite sure where to post my results with installing, charging, and using the battery, so just started this one. My power longevity test also involved a new 500 Watt power generator to run my Voicelive 3 Extreme, a Pigtronix Infinity Looper, a Helicon Corona Chorus, a Baggs DI, and the T1, before going into the S1 Pro, but those successful generator results are for another post and will be of more interest to buskers etc needing a good portable...Read More...

S1 battery replacement in 2-3 years?

(Wow, the Bose forum has changed, I think, since I last visited!) Anyway I was strongly looking at getting the S1 Pro but the best info I have says that, regardless of how much I use the unit, its rechargeable LI-Ion battery will have a maximum life of 2-3 years (and I assume that's the same battery that Bose sells for it for $99). Is this correct? It's less of a deal-breaker than I thought, since $99 isn't horrendously expensive, but it's definitely a factor for me.... Comments? Thanks....Read More...
Nice. Answers a question I had on another thread. It also suggests that getting a second battery to swap in and out isn't a good idea (or necessary) since then in 2-4 years you'd be spending $200 to replace both of them, instead of just waiting to replace the one when it needs it.Read More...

S1's Pros are so good I am selling my QSC's, NEED YOUR ADVICE

After Purchasing TWO (2) Bose S1 Pro’s I am ready to sell my QSC K8’s. I know they are not the same category; the QSC’s are louder and more more power. I just don't use them. I will never sell my TWO (2) Bose L1 Model 1S Single B2 Bass Portable Line Array System s. I will retain them for larger venues of 300+ Guests. For all other small and medium gigs, I am planning on using the S1 Pro’s. You can't beat them; the sound, weight, battery power, the bluetooth are such a game changer. I love...Read More...
Interesting discussion and I would like to address the original question from the OP. I bought two S1 Pro’s to replace my Yamaha DXR10’S for smaller gigs, together with a Proel SW110 active sub (crossover set @ 160Hz) for larger venues. However, I have been truly amazed at the sound across all the various sizes of venues (Guild 12 string guitar, vocal + self recorded drum & bass trax). Last weekend I did a venue for an audience 80+ people, played for one hour with ONE S1 running on...Read More...

Bluetooth Volume on the S1 Pro

chaste embrace
First gig today using one S1 Pro on speaker stand, Audix OM6 microphone, and bluetooth from iPhone sending set at full volume for backing tracks. Street setting busking outdoors on a low stage facing an endless wide courtyard with trees between shops, and facing out to the ocean. Totally impressed with S1 Pro, as it did the job it was supposed to do easily. Had the Volume for the microphone at 5 o'clock full. Backed it off to 4 o'clock for stronger vocal songs, which is what I always do...Read More...

I have INPUT but no OUTPUT

Hello Everyone-- first-time caller, long time listener :) My S1 PRO failed last night for the first time ever. I know It's receiving input because the channels light up green when I pass a signal through them but no sound output whatsoever. I ran through all the online issue fixes: remove battery reset, firmware update, etc. It's weird because I can't find one example of this happening to anyone else. This is not a connectivity issue, it seems like the problem is an output issue somewhere...Read More...

Hi Everyone, I'm starting a new discussion to provide the Bose reply to this question Answer: The output level of the guitar is louder than the output level of the microphone. Vocal Sound Quality

Oldghm
After many hours of use I have come to the personal conclusion that the S1 Pro has the best, or perhaps the most satisfying, vocal sound of all the L1 series of systems. Using the same mics, I find the S1 more responsive, more sensitive to vocal nuance than anything I have ever used previously and delivers a full rich sound with impressive clarity. I'm courious if anyone else agrees, and I'm courious if the difference is in the preamp, preset / eq, or the output / speaker section of the...Read More...

Feedback/Hum on channel 3

Hello All, I wanted to share a challenge I ran into over the holidays with my S1 Pro. I flew down to the SF Bay area, to spend the week between Xmas and New Year's with my extended family. I brought the S1 Pro in it's backpack as my carry-on luggage, and checked a suitcase with my 3 channel mixer, my wireless mics, and my wired mic. The first couple of days I was simply streaming music over Bluetooth, from my iPad Pro. Everything worked well, as normal. There was a party planned for the...Read More...

Two S1 Pro Systems for two performers

I have been using a S1 Pro for guitar, vocal and beatbuddy for small restaurant gigs of average 60-80 patrons. Occasionally I have a duo partner and a mix is needed for the extra inputs. I've been thinking of getting a second S1 for extra coverage and inputs, however, I would still have to bring a mixer to have both guitars and microphones coming out from both units. one feature that I'd really like to see added to the S1 is the ability to connect two S1s enabling inputs on both units be...Read More...
Hi FrankC, Thanks for the clarification. In a venue where you and one S1 Pro can provide sound for the whole room, adding a second performer with his own S1 Pro wouldn't require a mixer. You don't need a mixer. But if you are using a second S1 Pro as an extension loudspeaker in a long narrow or L-shaped room and you are comparing the S1 Pro to the Carvin AG300, that's a different situation. In that second situation, it would be handing if you could combine all the inputs and have the sound...Read More...

Used the S1 around the campfire

This weekend we're attending at fiberglass travel trailer rally in Florida. There are close to 100 trailers here so maybe 150 to 200 people. Friday, after dinner, they have a big campfire and musicians will jam. At the last rally, I played to about 30 people, unamplified, outdoors. The temperature dropped and by the time it was over, my voice was shot. I am as looking for an excuse to buy an S1 pro, this put me over the edge. This weekend, we had 75 to 100 people at the campfire. I came...Read More...

Aloha e @CityFolk , I use more of the inputs on the Behringer Xenix 1002B than most and take advantage of using active preamp DI boxes and effects to effectively maintain separate control of the microphone and instrument on a shared channel. I plug the u-bass into it's own channel, as it's the trickiest part of the mix. Using the active preamp and tube Blend control of a Behringer BDI21 and the British EQ of the Behringer Xenix 1002B I'm able to dial in a punchy bass that does not bottom out...Read More...

S1 Pro Battery - Does it Have to be Reseated to "awaken"

Hi Dr.Mike, I'm sorry I missed your follow-up question. No matter what you do, you can't overcharge the battery. Four flashes tells you the charge is greater than 75% (but it may be less than 100%) The slow flash means it's charging. This means the battery is not fully charged. No. You don't have to unplug the AC power cable to see the number of flashes, but it's easier to count the flashes (because there's no pause and slow flashes if system is charging the battery). To check the battery...Read More...

@Steves Off The Couch , as a performing musician for over 60 years (was playing a 3/4 scale neck acoustic guitar and singing with my case open outside of a Piggy Wiggly market for pennies, nickles, dimes and occasional quarters and less occasional dollars) and a live sound engineer for over 50 years, the Bose S1 Pro has totally impressed me.
