Blue LED

Hi guys I charged my S1 Pro last night and after a couple of hours the blue LED by the toggle switch went off. Is this normal or does it suggest a fault? Until last night every time I used my S1 Pro the little blue LED could be seen and I was able to flick it to the battery indicator setting to check the battery level but now when I set the toggle to battery setting the LED fails to light up and without it I have no way of checking the level. The forum says you can check the battery level by...Read More...
Whew glad you were able to have an easy fix. I’ll have to remember that if I come across a similar situation. Regarding switch positions, this is what I do. Not mandated by Bose, just my approach. If I charge overnight, I leave the switch in the middle trickle charge position. If I want to charge quickly, then the fully down switch position. When I store the unit for a time, I always leave the switch in the fully down position to prevent it from being inadvertently bumped and turned on.Read More...

Bose S1 Pro on Fox5 San Diego!

My musician long time friend Jim Gibson was on Fox5 San Diego using one of his Bose S1 Pro units. The techs had been up since 2AM in the morning trying to figure out how to get an audio feed and power several hundred feet from the Gator by the Bay venue and Jim had them plug directly into his Bose S1 Pro. Fox5 San Diego has since purchased several Bose S1 Pro's as solutions for remote video and were blown away by the sound. Here's a video of the news segment. See if you can spot the Bose S1...Read More...
On another note, Jim Gibson bought his 2 Bose S1 Pro's the same day he saw my first review on social media, even though I offered him a chance to borrow my Bose S1 Pro for a week. Jim bought the Bose S1 Pro's solely with faith in my review. I'm one of a handful of trusted "sound guys" in San Diego. My endorsements have never been bought.Read More...

S1 , Blue tooth and Garagebsnd - throughput delay ......

i decided to try the following - s1 connected via cables to MacBook Pro 2016 , guitars/mics connected via cables to Alesis 4 track anslogue to usb:midi into GarageBand ...this makes the GB effects for voice and guitar available together Kyle ( the drummer ) ..... works well. Super sound stage. THE PROBLEM - as a next step I decided to connect the Mac to s1 via Bluetooth .... I now have a short delay ...between pluck/strum and s1 sound emission - so live performance is impossible .... any...Read More...
Hi MGT, David Wyatt is right, there are other wireless technologies with lower latency than Bluetooth. If you're interested in pursuing that, most of those solutions go from a couple of hundred dollars to how-much-have-you-got. You'll need both transmitter and receiver. This will get you started: Wireless Guitar Systems Some operate in the 2.4 GHz range like Wi-Fi, and there are others that operate in different ranges. STRead More...

Another thumbs up for Bose!!👍

theonemanband
My second S1 Pro purchased recently came with a battery, but unlike my first one, no “slip cover”, an item I consider essential for protection against rain, dust etc., when transporting between gigs. I called Bose, who agreed to supply one free of charge and sure enough, true to their word, it arrived today. They had also previously supplied me with (as promised to “early adopters”), a backpack, so they have kept their promises on both counts and I am delighted with their support. Together...Read More...

ST
To our valued Bose S1 Pro system customers. Since the introduction of the S1 Pro multi-position PA system four months ago we heard from you, our customers, on how the S1 Pro was meant to be portable, and truly portable by today's standards is equivalent to "without AC power". For this reason we made a change to the S1 Pro product. Starting today (May 10, 2018), the S1 Pro now ships standard with the S1 Battery Pack included and pre-installed. We heard your feedback and are thrilled to make...Read More...

S1 Pro Backpack - which handle, horizontal or vertical?

So finally theS1 Pro Backpack arrived (Western Australia) and looks nice, well made. Definitely "dedicated" product, although I was also happy with one of the Gator Cases where you can put 2 x S1 and carry them both at once. Happy. Until the Backpack has arrived which changed my prospective on how to transport safely the speaker. So much so, I have just purchased (this time) the 2nd backpack. Now here is the question: the Backpack has 2 handles one in horizontal position and the other one in...Read More...
Thanks ST, indeed after all it is advertised as a BACKPACK, so primary way of carrying it should be straps, especially over long distances, Use the handles to lift it up only.Read More...

Flappy & rattly sound

I have had my S1 Pro since the Summer. I use it for small gigs and for practice. I use a Korg Krome DI and my guitars and bass guitar through the T1 Tonematch. My S1 has got really rattly and "flappy" when low end sounds go through it . I never run it at top volume or push it that hard and I am careful to make sure it is not peaking more than occasionally. The roughness comes at fairly low volume. Does this sound like a fault? It really doesn't sound right to me.Read More...
Hi Phil, Let's do some more testing. Connect the Bass to the T1. vvv First, try reducing the zEQ Low setting. If that doesn't help with the flappy, rattley sound, press the Low button to set it back to Bypass Try the ParaEQ Here are notes on the ParaEQ On the channel you're using for the bass start with these settings. See if that helps with the flappy, rattley sound. It should. If not, lower the level to -15.0 dB If that doesn't make a difference then we have to track down a different...Read More...

S1 Pro Speaker Stand recommendations?

Hi Everyone , I am new to the Bose forums. Recently received my Bose S1 and enjoying the speaker thus far. Have not yet had the opportunity to gig with it, but excited to test it out. If I don’t happen to need to use my S1 for, say, a month does Bose recommend I remove the battery for such a long storage period? Or does it matter? I worry about any excessive battery drain. Alternatively, should I just keep the battery installed and just periodically charge it? Thoughts?Read More...
I use them nearly every day - I practice for at least a couple of hours nearly every day. So, I'll try the center (off) position unless I'm returning from a gig where I've used 'em and will put 'em in quick charge for a day then back to "off". Thanks, ST.Read More...

Using the S1 Pro with Bose Connect App

I stumbled upon a YouTube video uploaded by Bose Professional showcasing the S1 and at the end the guy demonstrates using the S1 with the mobile Bose Connect app for mono or stereo Bluetooth streaming. I cannot find my S1s using the app and the S1 isn’t even listed as a supported device within the app. Has anyone seen this and figured it out? Here’s a link to the YouTube video: https://youtu.be/C1NaRpSrxLARead More...
Is it "just me", but doesn't it seem very reasonable to think this Bose Connect App with the S1 Pro COULD provide Volume, Bass, Treble, Reverb, and the Tonematch Switch for each channel? In other words - everything that is on the panel, make it available on the app? And while they're having a good time - Channel & Master Mutes, Master Volume, maybe Line-Out Volume.. .. NOT asking for wireless connect for instrument input, just the same controls that are THERE (plus a few that SHOULD be...Read More...

Flying with the S1

Oldghm
Hi ST, In researching flying with carry on baggage, it appears the S1 is too large to fit inside a bag designed for overhead bins. Not sure if it will travel under the seat, but I don't think so. The battery is another issue. I wonder if Bose has any information on the subject. O..Read More...
Security checks are going crazy the more politics gets aggressive. Be aware that you can take out the battery before security check. A few days ago they had me take out the tiny battery of compact camera. At least not the one of the iPad. Hard to understand the logic behind this. I just wanted to mention it.Read More...

Kudos for Bose!!

theonemanband
Having purchased one of the early S1’s, (February 2018, battery not included), like others, I was offered the goodwill gesture of a free backpack. I must confess I had given up hope of ever actually receiving it but low and behold, it turned up today!! Like all Bose products, well made, practical, and perfect for transporting a single S1 (I now have two) to small intimate gigs. THANK YOU BOSE!Read More...

Heat

As a general question, is it normal for your S1 Pro to heat up while in use? I don't mean warm. There is burning heat coming off and I just bought the System a few days ago and have only connected my guitar. The heat comes from the controllers not the battery. Ive have bought speakers before and this usually happens after a year of use or more (speakers have amplifiers).Read More...

Dead!

I was using my S1 Pro last night as a monitor and controller for my L1 mark 1 with 2 x B1s. All was going well when suddenly the S1 Pro 'died', refusing to work on either mains power or battery power. Fortunately the event was a fundraiser so while I was re-arranging things they held the raffle. I ran the rest of the gig with just the L1 and B1s. I'm going to call customer support (UK) this morning to see what they suggest. The unit is only a few weeks old and I need it again on Tuesday...Read More...

Bose S1 Pro positions and setup performing singer songwriter

Hi Folks I've just received My S1 and must say I'm absolutely delighted, as an L1 M2 owner the S1 is a lot more convenient for intimate gigs, So folks i was just wondering how other similar users how they position and use their S1 ? I realise this is a subjective subject and depends on venue etc, but it would be interesting share I will post my setup over the next few Weeks love the forum kind regards JRead More...
I agree that the S1 is definitely worth the money. One other detail that I didn't mention is that I placed the S1 much more centrally on the stage (and about 8 inches from the front lip of the stage) and I was off to the side from it. I think this made a difference by keeping the speaker away from the walls. Incredible how far the sound travels with such a small single speaker. The patrons that were 60 feet down around the corner playing pool said they could hear me really well!Read More...

Onboard Tonematch EQ’s

theonemanband
Hi, I have searched the forum and the Bose website, but cannot seem to find this information; please can anyone help? I am looking for a graph/diagram or other info that would show a visible comparison between the frequency responses of the three onboard, switchable “Tonematch” eq’s (flat/guitar/mic) on the S1 Pro. Is such a thing available, as I am sure this would be of help to other users too,...........any help or links greatly appreciated! Cheers......BrianRead More...
Absolutely.....I agree, I would always let my ears be the final judge but, I would have simply liked the option to make a mental note of the frequency curves of each, just as a shortcut to a starting point, so to speak. As I said, not essential, but useful. Thank you for input ST., always appreciated!Read More...

Gain Staging for T1 to two S1s

Last night I used two S1s for my acoustic duo (one guitar, two vocals). I ran the guitar and vocals into my T1 mixer which was connected to input 1 on an S1 with a TRS 1/4" cable. I then ran another TRS 1/4" cable from the output of the first S1 to the second S1. I set the input volumes of each S1 at noon to control the volume from the mixer. I was surprised that the volume of the first S1 was very quiet while the second in the chain was loud. I swapped the positions of the two S1s to...Read More...
Yeah, don’t want separate mixes. Honestly I’d never send the output of the S1 to FOH. In my experience, they want a nice mic level signal and one that will change if I need to adjust the volume of the monitor during a gig. The S1s worked well, but I really missed having a subwoofer.Read More...

Packlite with b2

Hey, I know the faq says that a sub is not recommended with the S1 but I need more low. I've seen other posts with using a f1 sub but that thing is to large and heavy. I was looking at the b2 with a packlite amp. Is it possible to use this with the S1 and has someone tried it? If yes how would you connect it up and do you need other things than the packlite and b2 since it comes with the cables and everything included. I mainly want to use it with Bluetooth stereo mode. If I connect a...Read More...
