Unable to connect to my S1 pro using the connect app.

I recently updated my bose connect app from version 8.1.0 to 8.1.1 thinking that was the reason I was unable to connect my s1 pro speaker. Updating the connect app did not fix the problem, then I updated my S1 speaker from the previous software version to the newest Firmware version 7.0.11 using my PCat http://btu.bose.com . Now I have both the connect app and the s1 pro updated to the latest version, but the problem still exists. So far, I deleted the app and reinstalled it (iPhone XR),...Read More...

Firmware 7.0.11

ST
There's a new firmware release 7.0.11 for the S1 Pro system It addresses this issue: EDIT S1 Pro Shutdown when you disconnect AC Power Clarification: Previously, some S1 Pro Systems would shut down if the AC power was interrupted. On those units firmware 7.0.11 changes the way an interruption to the AC power affects the S1 Pro: When an interruption in AC power is detected, the S1 Pro will go silent for four to seven seconds. The audio will resume without intervention from you. During the...Read More...
Hi Tim-MK, I run on battery power when There's no AC power available There is AC power available but I didn't feel like running the power cord to the outlet This happens all the time. I just appreciate not having to connect one more wire If I wanted to top up the battery while I was at a gig, then I would plug in the unit while I was playing. That hasn't happened yet. The few times I've had a power outage at a gig, the show got interrupted anyway. Any issues with my personal piece of the...Read More...

Bose connect app with 2 (two) S1 Pro speakers?

I had already bought one S1 Pro in May but when I received news that the Bose Connect App was out and functionable for 2 S1 Pro's...I immediately ordered ANOTHER one and tried the app as soon as I brought my S1 Pro's sister home. I cannot make it work at all. Anybody out there lucky enough to have 2 of these S1 Pros and succeeded using this app? Directions are scarce but if it IS functioning for someone, I must be doing something wrong. Anybody?! ThanksRead More...
Hi Steves Off The Couch, Good thoughts - but No - that won't work because: The T1 Master Output is balanced (mono) The S1 Pro Aux input is unbalanced stereo No - that won't work because: The S1 Pro Line Out is balanced (mono) The S1 Aux input is unbalanced stereo You could rig up the connections with some adapters but you would lose the Balanced connections between the components and make the whole system more vulnerable to line noise. I don't recommend that. STRead More...

S1 Pro Shutdown when you disconnect AC Power

ST
UPDATE 2019-05-16 There is a firmware update to resolve this issue. Please follow this link. Firmware 7.0.11 for S1 Pro Shutdown when you disconnect AC Power The original post follows below. Bose is aware that on some S1 Pro systems the unit will shut down if You are running the unit on AC power You disconnect the power or remove the AC power cord Other units do not exhibit this behavior and some customers have expressed concerns. You can resume operation by cycling the power button off and...Read More...
Good news everybody! There is a new firmware update that addresses this issue. Please see: Firmware 7.0.11 Edit: This changes the way an interruption to the AC power affects the S1 Pro. You will still have to cycle the power off/on with the power button to restore audio, but the firmware update reduces the likelihood that you will have to reset the S1 Pro to get it going again. S1 Pros as Front of House with F1 Subwoofer

ModernVintageDC
Hello ST and the Bose Community, I was able to get a test at a live gig yesterday. VENUE: Local Winery, in the winter I play indoors and in smaller room upstairs. I would say the room is about 40 X 50 and opens up to a larger room on the side. Attentive crowd at best although our band seems to get the crowd up and moving and there was much dancing by the end of the gig!! I have used an Model L1s with B2 many time in the past and it worked great in this room. There was about 50 or so in the...Read More...

No signal from zero to one

Is it intended behavior for the Bose S1 Pro to output no signal until the volume knob gets to about 1-1.5? Just bought one and while streaming music over Bluetooth this is very apparent. Set the Bose volume knob for Channel 3 (BT) to zero and slowly turn up then around 1.5 the signal suddenly kicks in. Not smooth at all. Tested the same thing on Channel 1 with a mic and it seems to be less pronounced by still a noticeably abrupt transition from no signal to HELLO SOUND!Read More...
Hi Beau Ryan, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Congratulations on getting your S1 Pro. Yes, the behaviour of Channel 3 volume control is different from Channels 1 and 2. On channel 3, the volume control is digital and the resolution of the control is not as high as the other channels so the transition from zero to Hello Sound is not as smooth. For pictures and more information please see: S1 Pro Channel 3 From your description, your system is working fine. I'm glad you joined us. STRead More...

party mode sending not just music ?

Hi, after purchasing 2 S1 units i was blown away with how good they sound on stands. But, as they have 'party mode' through the app which transmits (via bluetooth) from 1 S1 to the second one i was slightly disappointed to realise that they dont send anything other than the wireless bluetooth audio ?? so is party mode only to link 2 speakers together for music only ? surely as the S1 is primarily a PA unit it should be able to connect all audio from the first to the second ?Read More...

Good advice Dave ,and of course a lot of these issues are subjective ,I may still try the 87A ..gear for music in the UK allow you to even try mics and send them back if not suitable ,but as you say if the 58A works no real need to fix it ..such a durable mic and as I said works well with the S1 PRORead More...

Expected Battery Life

GeneS
I searched a bit and didn't see anything about this. I've had my S1 Pro over a year now and while I don't use it daily, I have used it for lots of 4-5 hour gigs/events and the battery has been great- no worries at all. After a year I'm wondering about the long-term life expectancy of the battery - I just ordered another to have as a "just in case", but was wondering if anyone has noticed any decrease in performance of the battery? thanks, GeneRead More...
Hi Gene, Thanks for raising an excellent question. Bose doesn't state an expected battery life. There are too many factors that can affect the battery. Instead, it puts a two-year warranty on the S1 Pro, including the battery. I understand the temptation to have a battery on hand "just in case". Unless it's mission critical to run on the battery, and there's no AC power available (that's your back-up), I would wait until you notice an issue: like the battery doesn't last long enough for you...Read More...

Accelerometer in the S1 Pro (Auto EQ feature)

ccc
ST interesting articles but they leave me very concerned about reactive time and perhaps atmospheric pressure drops. My cell phone Accelerometer is very slow in determining a vertical or horizontal position. When it reaches a point it tends to overreact wth speed. Its reactive time or over reactive time is often annoying. Hard drives are slowly being phased out in favor of electronic drives, leaving plater spin, warpage and heads bouncing a thing of the past. So does barometric changes like...Read More...

S1 Orientation and Dispersion

I have my S1 Pro arriving in a few days but I wanted to know a bit more about the orientation & dispersion even though I've read all the articles & manuals. I intend to use the S1 mounted on a trolley which already has the bottom surface at an angle very similar to the tilt back position. So this means placing the S1 flat makes it already tilted. Does this mean the EQ will change automatically to the tilt back curve even though it's not on the tilt back surface? I want the maximum...Read More...

Not a better, clearer dynamic mic for the Bose system than the Heil PR35. I've has Shure Sm58's wireless and wired but one of the best (SM58) is no match for the Heil. Slap a XVIVE bluetooth wireless system on it and Wa-la it is wireless and sounds great with my S1's with B2 woofers.Read More...

Coloured slip covers ...

Whatever happened about the coloured slip covers for the S1? I see what looks like them, at the NAMM video by Bose ... are these available for us to buy? How long when using with backing tracks is the battery supposed to last

Original post was in Battery Life This portion below moved here to a new topic. How long when using with backing tracks is the battery supposed to last Thanks Kevin GoodallRead More...
Hi Kevin, Up to 11 hours of play is dependent on Volume and to a lesser extent the tone controls Higher volume and turning up the tone controls draws more energy than lower settings. Program material Prerecorded music is usually compressed. This may draw more power than live music at the same perceived volume because live music has more dynamics (lower draw in quiet moments). @ST - A few minutes ago (I hadn't seen your message above) I went digging into a box where I keep my cables. Lo and behold, I found a cable that I acquired eons ago - twin 1/4" TS to a stereo 1/8" jack. I think I got this to connect an electronic keyboard to something ... don't remember what. Anyway, this is a fairly heavy duty cable and 6' long ... perfect for the guitar. I plugged it into the S1 and it's perfect. It does exactly what I want. Mobile DJ use - signal clipping and distorted bass

Hello Bose Community, I'm a hobbyist mobile DJ, mostly playing at house parties, villas, sailing boats and afterparties of tech conferences around Amsterdam. The music is bass-heavy, e.g. techno, many kinds of house etc. I'm using Traktor Kontrol Z1 as my mixer interface, running audio from my laptop, mixed in Traktor Pro 3. My secondary interface is Traktor Audio 2. I've been owning Bose S1 Pro system for almost 6 months now, and I enjoy using it for practice sessions at home and small...Read More...
The link below details connecting a Bose S1 Pro to a Behringer B1200d subwoofer. By using the high pass crossover on the sub you are limiting the low frequencies sent to the S1 Pro, that should help with clipping / overdriving you S1 Pro. The concepts outlined in the article should apply to most small subs. https://toonz.ca/bose/wiki/ind...B1200D_Pro_Subwoofer Lack of AC power... a small gas or propane inverter generator could provide you with the clean power needed to run your system. S1 Pro: Okay to leave it plugged in all the time?

Oldghm
Hi ST, and others, I have made some assumptions since receiving my S1 and just want to check and see if my actions are OK. I use the S1 for practice/rehearsal every day, so it stays plugged up all the time. If I leave the house to use it I have the choice of plugged or unplugged based on the site where I intend to play.
