S-1 Pro Logo

I had noticed another topic from somebody who snapped off the Bose logo and had the back part rattling inside the cabinet. This blown-apart view suggests that maybe the grill can be removed - the tabs on the grill edge suggest that to me. Any experiences?Read More...
Hi cc407, That's a great question. Thanks for asking. The image is an artist's rendering to give people an idea of what's inside the S1 Pro system. The grille is not replaceable in the sense that you can remove it and put it back on. The act of removing it will break the tabs. You have to replace the grill with a new one. Bose doesn't sell the grille or Bose logo separately. If you need a new grille or logo, please contact Bose Support to find out about service options. Thanks, ST Bose®...Read More...

Bluetooth transmitter solution - for T1 to S1 Pro

Looking to purchase an S1 Pro. I already have an L1 Model 2 that has really been a game changer for me the last few years. What I'm looking for advice on is a way to extend the coverage of my L1 on occasions wirelessly to the S1 Pro. I can obviously do this with a cable, but seeing as the S1 Pro has bluetooth - can anyone recommend a simple solution that I can connect the master from my T1 tonematch to transmit the same signal to the S1 Pro - say at the other end of room for coverage? I've...Read More...
Just ran across this on another Bose thread, this is similar to what I mentioned the guy at my cousin's wedding was using: https://www.altoproaudio.com/p...cts/stealth-wireless Same price as the Galaxy, but this has two receivers vice one and you can set them to left and right, or set the transmitter to mono so each gets the full mix. Unfortunately (fortunately?) only AC power on the receivers, but you'd need power for the S1 anyway. Alto's pretty popular in the educational and corporate...Read More...

Vocal Sound Quality

Oldghm
After many hours of use I have come to the personal conclusion that the S1 Pro has the best, or perhaps the most satisfying, vocal sound of all the L1 series of systems. Using the same mics, I find the S1 more responsive, more sensitive to vocal nuance than anything I have ever used previously and delivers a full rich sound with impressive clarity. I'm courious if anyone else agrees, and I'm courious if the difference is in the preamp, preset / eq, or the output / speaker section of the...Read More...
My favourite genre to perform is country and I use a Shure Beta 87A with two L1 systems. Have both the radio and cable version of the same mic - vocal clarity is supreme and the polar pattern of the "A" version keeps me very nicely protected from feedback.Read More...

S1 Pro cannot drive a drum machin!

Hi, Just got my new two sets of S1 Pro. They are sound fantastice when I drive them via the bluetooth in a stereo mode, but when I connect them to one of my drum machines (that also has a a Bass guita sounds), the 61/2" driver gets into saturation in relative low volume. I play a guitar (mostly electronics) with two synth guitar , drum machines, vocals and bass guitar in a relative small room - 12ft x x15ft. It seems that the S1 PRO was not designed for my application. I concider replacing...Read More...
Moshik, we talking about the same issue. The problem is in the low frequencies. I just wouldn't get so far that the S1 isn't able to be a full range speaker within reasonable limits. You can get quite loud with canned music (including kickdrums and bass). That kind of music is highly compressed/limited. A drum computer ofen not so. Also I'd say that you can set your lowcut to 60-70Hz instead of 100Hz and still get rid of a big load while it can sound ok for busking. And if your drumcomputers...Read More...

S1 Pros as Front of House with F1 Subwoofer

ModernVintageDC
Hello ST and the Bose Community, I was able to get a test at a live gig yesterday. VENUE: Local Winery, in the winter I play indoors and in smaller room upstairs. I would say the room is about 40 X 50 and opens up to a larger room on the side. Attentive crowd at best although our band seems to get the crowd up and moving and there was much dancing by the end of the gig!! I have used an Model L1s with B2 many time in the past and it worked great in this room. There was about 50 or so in the...Read More...
I think the B2 would be great, I used to have one. Please try it and let us know! Best wishes-Read More...

Connecting two Bose S1 Pro's via bluetooth on laptop

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how to connect both of my S1 Pro's via Bluetooth to my laptop. I can get it to play with one or the other but there is no option to play through both. I figure that I need to somehow download the Bose Connect App to make that happen but I am not finding a download for Windows 10, just for mobile devices. Am I missing something in my searches? Thank you!Read More...

S1 "farting out" and issue running T1 to S1 with 1/4" unbalanced cable

I had an outdoor gig tonight and hoped to use my S1 for two vocals and acoustic guitar. Unfortunately, I didn't have a stereo trs 1/4" cable and I brought the wrong adapter (xlr female to trs 1/4"), so I had to run an unbalanced guitar cable from the T1 to the S1. Tomorrow I will have a balanced cable to run between the two. Running the T1 like I do with my L1M2 really overloaded the input of the S1 channel set to off. It was near impossible to get a clean sound with decent volume out of the...Read More...
Thanks again ST. That should really be clarified in the wiki. The way it's written I couldn't tell that xlr in is mic and trs in is line level. It says the XLR is for mic or line level. "Combo Inputs S1 Pro Channels 1 and 2 have combo inputs that accept XLR (balanced mono) Microphone or Line-Level inputs 1/4 inch (6 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve connection (balanced mono) Line-Level inputs 1/4 inch (6 mm) Tip-Sleeve connection (unbalanced mono) Line-Level inputs and instruments (e.g. guitars,...Read More...

S1 update problems

Hi, I got a S1 yesterday and wanted to update the speaker today. The speaker connects to my Surface computer, firmware is recognised (5.07) but when I want to update I get the message "we lost connection". Any ideas? Thank you PeterRead More...
Hi again ST. Good news - all fixed. I had another try using Internet Explorer - the upgrade to Ver 7.0 proceeded to completion, Bose Connect now operational. A suggestion for clarification re the link mentioned above: S1 Pro Amber Light on Channel 1 My initial expectation was that after Step 7 the unit would reset to its status before the upgrade attempt and would be operational with blue lights. That wasn't the case - no blue, and the amber light was still on Ch1, but the firmware upgrade...Read More...

S1Pro with Battery Powered Wireless Mic

Kevin Salyer
A couple of quick pics from a recent gig. Audience of 50 in a small auditorium (dig that grooooovy curtain!). Single S1Pro on battery power with battery powered Shure wireless rig (that’s the receiver I’m holding, which is powered by two AAs). Plenty of power and great sound in a dead acoustic space. Rave responses from the audience. No cords + quick setup and takedown + great sound + ecstatic audience = very happy entertainer!Read More...

Mobil DJ and Karaoke

I would like to hear from Mobil DJs and KJs that have used 1 or 2 S1’s at small to medium sized parties do you have any videos you can post the only video I saw was from a 55 plus party playing country and 50’s and 60’s music thank youRead More...
I’ve done a beach party and 2 pool parties, both had no power available so battery was a must. 2 in Stereo is WAY better than 1 (or even 2 in dual mono), but does force you to use Bluetooth to do it. Which can get glitchy, since it’s Bluetoth... but these speakers have a very robust connection wirelessly, just don’t forget and walk off with your iPad to talk!Read More...

S1 Pro - the switch inside the pole cup

ST
The S1 Pro uses an accelerometer to determine if it is in the tilt-back, horizontal or vertical position. It also has a switch inside the pole cup to determine if it is mounted on a speaker stand. Based on the orientation and the switch, the S1 Pro automatically applies the correct EQ. Here's a picture of the switch inside the pole cup. Close up. It's not that shiny in there. It's just the way the light hit and bounced around. STRead More...
Well, I see I can get an insert, to adapt to smaller diameter poles, this might do the trick!Read More...

Mobile charging of the Bose S1 Pro traveling between gigs...

I "top off" my Bose S1 Pro and 9 volt Lithium Ion Batteries between gigs in my car with the power switch in the center off position and my 9V NiMH battery chargers with a 200 watt continuous (400 watt peak) modified sine wave DC to AC power inverter I purchased at Harbor Freight (these inverters are available at many other retailers) plugged into my car's 12 volt accessory jack. This affords me the opportunity to perform three 3+ hour gigs with my Bose S1 Pro and Behringer Xenix 1002B...Read More...
On another note, I've never attempted to use this inverter to charge my Carvin StageMate S400D, a workhorse for over 15 years. With the second lead acid battery and matching 810 extension cabinet (the unit was 60 watts RMS 8 ohms and 100 watts RMS with the 8 ohms extension cabinet in parallel which doubled the current draw at 4 ohms), it would gets 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours on a full charge and take a full day plugged in to fully recharge. Multiple deep discharges of these batteries render them...Read More...

My S1 is dead…

RobJVM
I haven't really begun to dig into this but I'm posting in the hope that someone else has had a similar experience and might say "oh yeah, it's this…" I frequently use my S1 as a personal monitor at low volume acoustic solo gigs. I am plugged into it from the output of a ToneMatch mixer. Not red-lining the S1 channel at all. Finished a set, came back from my break last and the power light is off. Thought maybe someone bumped the switch but it was in the on position. The unit was a little bit...Read More...

Using S1 pro as monitor with L1 model 2 with B2

I have the new S1 Pro for use as a solo performer and it works amazingly. I use an L1 model 2 with the B2 bass bin for band performances. Our set up is three vocals, guitar, mandolin, upright bass and electronic drums. I run 2 T1 Tone matches to my L1 for mixers. My question is can I take the feed from the Bass/Line out to send a mix to the S1 to use it as an expansion speaker or full mix monitor?Read More...

AAARGH! Can't find a 35mm pole-mount adapter!

I'm amazed (or maybe blind) but I cannot find a 35mm speaker-pole adapter that I can use to put my S1 on top of an existing 38mm speaker stand I have (from my Fishman SA220, to be exact). What have you all done to put your S1 on a pole mount??? Thanks...Read More...
Hmmm... thanks, all. I didn't see any mention at all of that switch in my user manual but I do know it's there! Can't imagine how something might damage it, since it's just a little lever switch that gets depressed when the pole is inserted -- but don't really want to chance it either. Just can't believe there's not some adapter out there that's no as complicated as the Hercules item. Just might fabricate something myself. But I'll keep looking. Thanks again for all the input here.Read More...

Suitability....

Hi ST, Good friend of mine is currently purchasing for his daughter, Yamaha SVC-110 Silent Cello, with some pre-amp built-in. A just wonder if you would recommend Bose S1 Pro to use as an suitable amplification for her new toy. She is already playing keyboard - Roland RD-800, so perhaps S1 Pro - since it has 2 inputs - could be utilized to amplify both instruments? I don’t really know the specifics/details of the Yamaha SVC-110 pre-amp (battery operated), but in general looks like it might...Read More...
From Wikipedia : The Roland RD-800 has 88 keys. This doesn't mean the S1 Pro isn't a good choice for your friend's daughter. It depends on how she uses the RD-800 and how much volume she needs. I'm looking to hearing how she feels about the S1 Pro system. STRead More...

S1 sounds terrible

I picked up my S1 yesterday and so far it is the worst sounding speaker I have ever owned. I have a full Mackie DLM main and monitor setup a Bose L1 compact, a T1 and 2 L1 classics. I set up at a small restaurant and positioned the speaker in the kicked back position next to me. It sounds like to speaker array isn’t even working. I used my T1 with very disappointing results also. Completely muddy. Recorded music even sounds horrible. I play a Taylor 710 ce and use a SM 58 and have 30 years...Read More...
I find this disappointing sound surprising given the various experiences expressed on this forum along with my own experience with the S1. Something is going on here with this unit and would recommend trying another. Of course, a “good” sound is by nature very subjective. We’ve found the S1 sounds quite nice and to be a good alternative to our larger L1M2 system for smaller venues or outdoors where there’s no power available or the power is risky due to questionable power generators.Read More...

Using S1 Pro as a stage monitor

I have my first gig this Sat with my L1 Compact and T1. I have been using it a lot at home but won't have a chance to try it at the venue until sound check the afternoon before the show (rectangular building...20 x 60 and stage is at the small end of the rectangle looking down towards the bar). Question is could I use the S1 behind me and off to...Read More...

S1 Pro system battery not charging

Durnbock
Hi all...new to the forums! So one of my S1 pro batteries was totally dead. I haven't used it for a couple days, so I'm hoping that the switch accidentally got turned on. Anyway, I fast-charged both speakers. The other one charged up and the light went off, but the one that was dead is still flashing after almost 4.5 hours on fast charge. Is this normal? Could this battery be bad?Read More...

S1 Pro - Can I bypass the Auto EQ

Any way to bypass the eq changes? I like the eq in the tiltback position. However there are times I need it on a pole, but I prefer the eq I get in the tiltback position. For now, I just elevate the S1 to a table or stool and put it in the tilt back position. There seems to be too much bass when mounted on the pole.... for my current setup. Just wondering.Read More...
I want to add my post here in the hope there are little chances that Bose will rethink the idea of the Auto EQ and find a software solution to help with out. While the S1 is a nice product the Auto EQ drives me crazy. Of course I'm in the mid of my 50ies and it's hard to get used to EQ my speakers by turning them around. :-) But i have the hunch that Bose didn't think through the whole matter and wantet to bring out somehing new just for marketing reasons. As Eddy mentioned, the necessity to...Read More...
