Bluetooth Volume on the S1 Pro

chaste embrace
First gig today using one S1 Pro on speaker stand, Audix OM6 microphone, and bluetooth from iPhone sending set at full volume for backing tracks. Street setting busking outdoors on a low stage facing an endless wide courtyard with trees between shops, and facing out to the ocean. Totally impressed with S1 Pro, as it did the job it was supposed to do easily. Had the Volume for the microphone at 5 o'clock full. Backed it off to 4 o'clock for stronger vocal songs, which is what I always do...Read More...

I have INPUT but no OUTPUT

Hello Everyone-- first-time caller, long time listener :) My S1 PRO failed last night for the first time ever. I know It's receiving input because the channels light up green when I pass a signal through them but no sound output whatsoever. I ran through all the online issue fixes: remove battery reset, firmware update, etc. It's weird because I can't find one example of this happening to anyone else. This is not a connectivity issue, it seems like the problem is an output issue somewhere...Read More...

Hi Everyone, I'm starting a new discussion to provide the Bose reply to this question Answer: The output level of the guitar is louder than the output level of the microphone. That's why we have to turn up the microphone higher. This is how my S1 Pro looks most of the time. The microphone is connected to channel 1 and the guitar is connected to channel 2. More information: There’s been a lot of discussion here lately about Unity gain The center détente is unity Not enough reaction to the...Read More...

Vocal Sound Quality

Oldghm
After many hours of use I have come to the personal conclusion that the S1 Pro has the best, or perhaps the most satisfying, vocal sound of all the L1 series of systems. Using the same mics, I find the S1 more responsive, more sensitive to vocal nuance than anything I have ever used previously and delivers a full rich sound with impressive clarity. I'm courious if anyone else agrees, and I'm courious if the difference is in the preamp, preset / eq, or the output / speaker section of the...Read More...

Feedback/Hum on channel 3

Hello All, I wanted to share a challenge I ran into over the holidays with my S1 Pro. I flew down to the SF Bay area, to spend the week between Xmas and New Year's with my extended family. I brought the S1 Pro in it's backpack as my carry-on luggage, and checked a suitcase with my 3 channel mixer, my wireless mics, and my wired mic. The first couple of days I was simply streaming music over Bluetooth, from my iPad Pro. Everything worked well, as normal. There was a party planned for the...Read More...

S1 issue? Channel 2 substantially quieter than Channel 1

Hi everybody, I´m Bruno from Germany and just recently I bought a S1. I intend to use it as an universal "make-it-loud-unit" for my kemper, for my acoustic and microphone at house concerts and for streaming music via bluetooth and as a bass amp and... and. I have since 2 or 3 weeks and I´m very happy with it. Today I noticed that there is a significant volume difference between channel 1 and 2. If i put my Acoustic from channel 1 to 2 the signal drops quite strong (perhaps 6 to 9 db?).Read More...
Hi Bruno. Thank you for coming back to tell us about your interaction with Bose Support. I'm sorry for the inconvenience of having to return the S1 Pro, but I'm glad we've identified the problem and the solution. You are in good company here. There are lots of people who have been playing for decades in many different settings. There's a nice conversation you will enjoy here: What's changed for you in live sound? So you are well acquainted with the Bose sound. It's great to know you better.Read More...

Coloured slip covers ...

troubador
Whatever happened about the coloured slip covers for the S1? I see what looks like them, at the NAMM video by Bose ... are these available for us to buy? I'm aware of the (boring) black slip covers - US$29 I believe. My question is about coloured covers like Bose shows in its NAMM video. Here's one of the videos: https://youtu.be/0zlVXW_f3sQ The video I saw was on Instagram ...Read More...
Here's the video. The acoustically transparent play through covers are different from the black slip cover. The new covers don't affect the sound. STRead More...

Two S1 Pro Systems for two performers

I have been using a S1 Pro for guitar, vocal and beatbuddy for small restaurant gigs of average 60-80 patrons. Occasionally I have a duo partner and a mix is needed for the extra inputs. I've been thinking of getting a second S1 for extra coverage and inputs, however, I would still have to bring a mixer to have both guitars and microphones coming out from both units. one feature that I'd really like to see added to the S1 is the ability to connect two S1s enabling inputs on both units be...Read More...
Hi FrankC, Thanks for the clarification. In a venue where you and one S1 Pro can provide sound for the whole room, adding a second performer with his own S1 Pro wouldn't require a mixer. You don't need a mixer. But if you are using a second S1 Pro as an extension loudspeaker in a long narrow or L-shaped room and you are comparing the S1 Pro to the Carvin AG300, that's a different situation. In that second situation, it would be handing if you could combine all the inputs and have the sound...Read More...

Used the S1 around the campfire

This weekend we're attending at fiberglass travel trailer rally in Florida. There are close to 100 trailers here so maybe 150 to 200 people. Friday, after dinner, they have a big campfire and musicians will jam. At the last rally, I played to about 30 people, unamplified, outdoors. The temperature dropped and by the time it was over, my voice was shot. I am as looking for an excuse to buy an S1 pro, this put me over the edge. This weekend, we had 75 to 100 people at the campfire. I came...Read More...

Aloha e @CityFolk , I use more of the inputs on the Behringer Xenix 1002B than most and take advantage of using active preamp DI boxes and effects to effectively maintain separate control of the microphone and instrument on a shared channel. I plug the u-bass into it's own channel, as it's the trickiest part of the mix. Using the active preamp and tube Blend control of a Behringer BDI21 and the British EQ of the Behringer Xenix 1002B I'm able to dial in a punchy bass that does not bottom out...Read More...

S1 Pro Battery - Does it Have to be Reseated to "awaken"

I just received my new S1 Pro--exciting! I read in a review that the battery must be reseated to awaken it. Is that true? And, what is the proper way to charge the battery before first use? Thanks.Read More...
Hi Dr.Mike, I'm sorry I missed your follow-up question. No matter what you do, you can't overcharge the battery. Four flashes tells you the charge is greater than 75% (but it may be less than 100%) The slow flash means it's charging. This means the battery is not fully charged. No. You don't have to unplug the AC power cable to see the number of flashes, but it's easier to count the flashes (because there's no pause and slow flashes if system is charging the battery). To check the battery...Read More...

What kind of guitar do you run through your S1 Pro system?

ST
The S1 Pro system has been the perfect complement to this nice little jazz box 1 . I run this straight into channel 2 2 with the ToneMatch switch set to Guitar. Usually I leave the tone controls at 12:00 o'clock and the reverb off (personal preference). Simple is good. I've all kinds of compliments on the guitar tone with this easy setup. I run other guitars through the S1 Pro system, but I thought I'd share this one because it was a pleasant surprise. What kind of guitar are you playing...Read More...
I too have a CA as well as a RainSong for playing outdoor gigs or ones that could present “inhospitable” environments. They each have their pros and cons, but I prefer the CA overall tone over the RainSong. It’s been a great guitar. I also have a CA cargo which is an awesome travel guitar! My CA is pre Peavey. I don’t know why they aren’t that popular, but there are hard to find and it doesn’t seem Peavey markets them all that well.Read More...

Fantastic Acoustic Tone

CityFolk
i just did a solo guitar gig with my S1 and used a couple of guitars. One I hadn’t used through the S1 before. It’s a Martin Judy Collins Model which is a 12 fret, slope shouldered dreadnought with a Fishman undersaddle pickup. This guitar is a fingerpickers dream to play and the combination of 12 fret, short scale, and big body gives it a wonderfully rich and woody sound. I put it through the S1 with the ToneMatch set to guitar, rolled off the bass a bit, kept the treble at 12 o’clock, and...Read More...

Well made

Compliments to Bose for making a very good speaker, the S1 . It works very well for me and I don’t get complaints about the volume. It works very well for me and I don’t get complaints about the volume. Would I make any changes? As it is it is very very good. I would suggest a few changes if it were possible. You can use the Bose Connect app to run two S1s in stereo. I'd like to see the Bose Connect app built into the T4 and T8 mixers so that your mix can go wireless to the speakers. S1 Pro as monitor with T1 and L1 Model II

Hi ST I have another question for you which I hope you can help with. I have bought a S1 Pro which arrived yesterday and sounds fab! I will use this on some gigs as a monitor with my L1 model 2. To connect this to my T1 Tonematch what would I do please? a) My keyboard is in channel 3 of the Tonematch and a vocalist in channel 1. First time playing out

I play an open mic night on Wednesdays where the host is a good friend of mine. I asked ahead, if it would be OK if I brought my S1 out and set it up independent of his PA so I could try it in a live setting. He said no problem. This is a small bar/restaurant that has a good crowd this week. I set the S1 on a small speaker stand off to the right of the tiny stage, hooked up my SM58 and put it on a mic stand behind the performance area. Also attached a 1/4 inch cable for my guitar. Battery Behavior

I have two S1 Pros. When I got my first one, I charged it fully and used it for several shows (I'm a magician and I use it for a vocal mic and background music from an iPod). When I finished my third show, it was down to flashing twice which is supposed to mean 25% to 49% battery life. I didn't use it for five days and then turned it on for a show. It was completely dead. I plugged it in and used it with AC. I called Bose to see what tech support would say about it because that's not the...Read More...
