Connecting T4S Tonematch mixer to Bose S1 Pro

Is this possible, to connect my T4S Tonematch mixer to my Bose S1 Pro? I think the Bose S1 sounds fine by itself but I think there would be so many more options if I could connect the T4S. I am a solo singer and guitarist, and also a children's storyteller, and this would be great for smaller venues, coffee shops, etc. Thank you:)Read More...
I just tried it. It works! Thanks a bunchRead More...

L1 Compact owner, just added an S1 Pro-Stereo connection help

I'm a mobile DJ, and have owned the L1C for several years, and love it. With the advent of the S1 Pro, I thought it would be nice to use it connected to my mixer, with the L1 connected as either left or right, and the S1 on a stand connected as the opposite channel. 1) The mixer has RCA outputs, what would be the best way to wire this? 2) If stereo playback is really not the best use of my resources, what would be the best way to wire up the two PA systems to the mixer for best results?Read More...
We are, thank you again for being so helpful. I will, but it will be awhile. I just DJ on the side, for friends/family/referrals. I probably do 4-6 gigs a year.Read More...

Hi ST, On the subject of connectivity, Is there a safe way to use the S1 Pro 3rd channel 1/8" stereo input as a mono input for devices other than music players? I'm thinking about The Logarhythm Travelog . O..Read More...

Pictures of S1 Pro in use!

jdbassentertainment.com
Feel free to share your pictures of the S1 Pro in use! This picture actually turned out to be a bit of an optical illusion... lol the S1 looks huge since it is set several feet infront of me... I used the S1 Pro as a light duty PA at the local tech schools Minute to Win IT event! Worked great!!Read More...
Dang! You guys (Others) definitely need to purchase/make some shorter cables. That's a lot ( yards and yards?) of tangle lying back there. Yeah, I've found elevating the Compact, in most situations, improves the over all sound as well. I often put it on a table top with no extension. That seems to provide the most balanced sound, and it still covers the room nicely.Read More...

S1 Pro and low frequencies

I would love to see some sort of Digital Signal Processing added to at least Channel 3 with the Aux and Bluetooth. If the S1 cannot handle low-frequency content at higher volumes, I have absolutely no problem with my music being processed to avoid the port noise and aim towards pure loudness. As a bass lover, I even think the S1 can be too bassy even when I use channels 1 or 2 to turn the bass down! It's annoying when I'm teaching my fitness classes and I have to worry whether or not the...Read More...

More than Satisfied

The more I use this little Dynamo ,the more I'm impressed.I've used it quite a bit lately.I did an outside crawfish boil Saturday and it was more than enough for what I needed.I got 7.5 hrs from battery.I've included a picture of prepping for boil. I purchased an F1 when they first came out,but I sent it back after twenty days.I couldn't justify the cost ,I hardly ever or would ever use it.Now this I can more than justify.Read More...

S1 Pro as vocal monitor feeding T1 to L1 Compact

cc407
I just received the S1 Pro and I am very impressed. I will use it in several ways. There will be times that I use it as a stand-alone PA, either with acoustic guitar and voice, or with a T1 with my acoustic duo, and with the impressive sound, it will be my go-to acoustic guitar amp. My first use is about a month away, as my Duo morphs into a Trio. The duo has used my L1 Compact with the T1 Mixer, to great results. With the Trio, we are adding an acoustic bass. I want to have a single source...Read More...
I tried this scenario with my trio. The vocals through the S1 Pro translated well to the L1 Compact. The 2 guitars to T1 were fine. The acoustic Bass to T1 (T1 to L1 Compact) did NOT work too well. A line-out from L1 Compact to digital recorder was heavily dominated by Bass. I suppose I can play around with this, but I think we will try a different set-up.Read More...

S1 Pro with a loud band

ST
I took the S1 Pro and a Boss GT-1 as my guitar rig to a gig in a noisy bar. The place holds about 75 boisterous patrons and the stage volume gets outrageous at times. The stage looked like this. From left to right: PA speaker (not F1 Model 812) L1® Compact aimed back as stage monitor ST on Guitar and vocals through the S1 Pro (not connected to anything else) Drums Bass Guitar through backline amp, and Vocals Guitar and vocals through pedalboard to the PA Keyboards through PA PA speaker (not...Read More...
Thanks for the report ST, I am awaiting a similar test in April and what you appear to be confirming is that the S1 is holding it's own and can cut through "stage" mix achieving a reasonable stage volume. I am actually thrilled to hear your keeping up with a live drummer well on stage and NOT bleeding in to the audience that much which will allow for a nice FOH mix. It appears that the S1 s will serve the "stage/guitar monitor application" well especially for us folks that use a modeler with...Read More...

Hello Bose Community, I wanted to share a recent show we did on 3/10/2018 with the S1 Pros. This is a beautiful winery I have played at for years in Middleburg ,VA. In the past I used the L1S w/B2. Here are the details: 2 S1 Pros - notched out 100Hz and below when sub was added to prevent distortion of low end. Volume level 1/4 Recorded on an iPhone, no special mic so please bear the sound quality in mind. F1 Sub - Sub out controlled on there board 3 mics/Vocalists 1 Bass, Martin GPCPA4...Read More...

So far....so good!

theonemanband
So, I've used my new S1 Pro at outdoor gigs a few times now (battery powered) usually on the floor, standing position (not "tilt back") and I'm delighted with the results. Battery life, no issue whatsoever. Vocals, (Shure SM57 Beta) with "mic" tonematch; perfect. I have found though, that my guitar sounds better with the tone match also set to "mic", but this may be because I am playing a Danelectro DC59 12string electric through a small multi fx pedal (Zoom MS100-BT). I assume that "guitar"...Read More...
Hi Brian, Thanks for the update. Were you on an elevated stage? Yes, the ToneMatch® setting for guitar is for acoustic guitars. When you run an electric through a pedal, setting the ToneMatch setting to OFF would be my first recommendation. But I can understand why setting it to MICROPHONE would work too. It's great that you've found a way to get the S1 Pro working for you. Bose hasn't given us an availability date yet. STRead More...

Mine’s Going Back

I got the S1 Pro as an early birthday gift for use in small worship settings as a solo fingerstyle acoustic guitarist and after living with it for a week I’ve decided to return the unit. It’s a nice concept but I’ve struggled to get a good sound out of the S1. To my ear it has a real treble bias and sounds tinny. I can get some good sounds after much tweaking with an LR Baggs Venue eq unit but I expected a more plug and play experience. Frankly, I find the ToneMatch for guitar pretty awful.Read More...
That's too bad you were unable to get a sound you liked out of the S1. For vocals, I was able to get a decent sound using the flat and tone match settings and then adjusting the EQ. The S1, however, does benefit from a pre-amp boost from a vocal pedal like a Play Acoustic, or some other source. For guitar, I generally use either my Collings OM1, or my OM-28 Marquis and have been able to dial in a natural sound, again through either the flat, or tone match setting and adjusting the EQ. I...Read More...

"Automatic" EQ?

theonemanband
Hi....Absolutely loving my new S1 Pro but I have more questions; (I hope to be able to actually contribute help advice when I am more familiar and experienced with it)!! So.........I have read the user manual and looked online and am well aware now of the "automatic eq" feature. This information however, only seems to refer to the coverage patterns of the four positions and not the actual eq curves and so my questions are, how do the various S1 Pro positions (standing flat, tilted back,...Read More...
ST........thank you, that helps enormously and thank you for your comprehensive and informative answers to ALL the questions I have posted since owning my new S1 Pro. I now feel much better informed about both the S1 Pro and the battery; confident and better equipped in getting the best from it, for performances both indoor and outdoor. As regards the positioning and eq., I suppose the real litmus test is what sounds the best to our EARS! Thanks again to ALL contributors, of which I hope to...Read More...

Detailed video review of S1 Pro for use in acoustic duo

My wife and I have an acoustic duo with her on vocals and me on guitar. I sing a couple songs so we do use a mixer when we take the full gear out. I spend 20 minutes yesterday demonstrating both the full setup with the mixer as well as just a mic and guitar straight into the Bose and how to get a good tone. I use guitars with K&K pickup systems so for me that means using some sort of preamp with EQ. You can view the video on YouTube here: Bose S1 Pro YouTube demo videoRead More...
Can someone tell me how I can have two singers using the L1 compact? Please follow this link to the new discussion for this question. Two Singers with L1® Compact Thank you.Read More...

S1 Pro Reviews

That's a very extensive and informative review Methos....thanks! I used the S1Pro in a smaller venue....an upstairs upscale taproom and the results were very good. It was a noisy but also very attentive audience and so I was definitely dealing with room noise I do not have in the practice studio. So likely I'm still needing to learn how to tweak and adjust on the fly a bit better. Experience will take care of a lot of that. I think the noticeable changes that I was personally dissatisfied...Read More...

S1 Pro Questions

Sound comparison to Samson or are compact

Hello, I am is the market for a replacement for my faithful but, now worn out Samson xp106 amp. I mostly used it to busk with but, i also have been called to do performances in schools and private parties. The problem or complant I had is, it doesn't have tone controls so, some of my backing tracks which have badly eqed I am stuck with muddy sound. Second, I was hoping to get something that had the vocal clarity of an aer compact which I found sounds incredible. I won't be using it for...Read More...
Hi Newjazz, Welcome to the Bose Pro Portable PA Community. The S1 Pro has three inputs. Channels 1 and 2 have ToneMatch Presets for vocal microphone and acoustic guitar as well as bass and treble controls. Channel 3 is an Auxiliary input or Bluetooth there are no tone controls on this channel If you backing tracks are muddy or badly EQd, I think you'll find that the S1 Pro will reproduce those issues faithfully. If your inputs are you through a microphone - channel 1, and backing tracks -...Read More...

Delighted............but

theonemanband
Hi, I have just returned to the Bose "family" as a new owner of a Bose S1 portable PA. I say returned as, many years ago, I carried a big Bose rig (4 x 802's & 2 x 302's) but later cut down to smaller lighter options. Now that I'm older, I am working mostly smaller, intimate venues and combine that with street performance and the Bose S1 Pro seemed to tick all the boxes. I have to say that it has surpassed all my expectations, it is truly superb in every sense and I am delighted with...Read More...

S1 Pro Compared to L1® Compact

ST
Here's an article in the Bose Pro Portable PA wiki S1 Pro Compared to L1® Compact Please post questions and comments here. STRead More...
I think, that I would first get a reverb. Second the vocals would come from another direction than the music. Third the vocals may close to me be a little louder, not bad, when the people sitting far away wants to talk a bit. At least, this isn't the main application, the main reason is music on the streets with the S1. Don't forget, I live in a country, where "mobile power" means, to buy battery, inverter and charger seperately, because combinations aren't available.Read More...

Week 3

This S1 is (I am a mechanic so here goes...) like silicone, fills any space where the music may leak. So easy, so clean. Just plug in and point. You know how you can get this tension when seeking the best you've got? Right in the shoulders....man... Is this good? Is that o.k.? I remember big speakers, big boards, never ending search for "The Right Stuff"...... I don't work for Bose....but Bose works for me....never in my 40+ yrs of playing have I been done with my system.....guess...Read More...

S1 Pro Presets

Hi guys, I'm a new member of the community Just got a brand new S1 pro, and will be testing it right quick to give my review. So far I've found a defect in a volume knob fonction. I have a noob question regarding the Tonematch presets : I understood these could be selected to match a specific guitar or vocal mic, but where are these options with just a switch on the S1? What "mic" and "guitar" positions actually account for in detail? Thanks RobinRead More...
Hi Robin, I've checked with our team here (USA) and it's best if you work directly with the dealer to get a replacement. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for providing all the information and the video. STRead More...
