Andertons (the shop responsible for the video) is one of my go to places when sourcing out stuff. The videos are generally pretty good, and depending on who does them can be funny too. This one is basically just a good demo in my opinion. This video is probably the best available at the present time for people who want to know how the S1 Pro sounds compared to a Compact. I'm not speaking directly to DJ's here (who tend just to use the Bose gear as powered speakers and the demo is with guitar...Read More...

S1 Pro for electric guitar with a band I stopped in at a friend's gig and sat in for a few R&B, Blues and Trip-Hop/Alt-Rock songs. I used the S1 Pro for electric guitar with a Boss GT-1 to get some chunky rhythm and singing leads. It was in a small club with seating for eighty-ish. This was an experiment - The band included a bass amp and full trap kit. I sang through the PA because I didn't want to push my luck. I worked vocals and guitar back and forth with a fantastic female vocalist...Read More...

S1 Pro Speaker Stand recommendations?

Hi Everyone , I am new to the Bose forums. Recently received my Bose S1 and enjoying the speaker thus far. Have not yet had the opportunity to gig with it, but excited to test it out. Was wondering if anyone had speaker stand recommendations? Looking for a sturdy , portable and light weight stand. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! ThanksRead More...

Hi RF-Musiker / Musician This is why I asked about the narrow dispersion. I agree, there are times when a narrow dispersion is good. I didn't understand why you would play your keyboard through the L1 Compact (wide) and sing through the S1 Pro (narrow). STRead More...

Week 3

gary10113
This S1 is (I am a mechanic so here goes...) like silicone, fills any space where the music may leak. So easy, so clean. Just plug in and point. You know how you can get this tension when seeking the best you've got? Right in the shoulders....man... Is this good? Is that o.k.? I remember big speakers, big boards, never ending search for "The Right Stuff"...... I don't work for Bose....but Bose works for me....never in my 40+ yrs of playing have I been done with my system.....guess...Read More...

S1 Pro as vocal monitor feeding T1 to L1 Compact

I just received the S1 Pro and I am very impressed. I will use it in several ways. There will be times that I use it as a stand-alone PA, either with acoustic guitar and voice, or with a T1 with my acoustic duo, and with the impressive sound, it will be my go-to acoustic guitar amp. My first use is about a month away, as my Duo morphs into a Trio. The duo has used my L1 Compact with the T1 Mixer, to great results. With the Trio, we are adding an acoustic bass. I want to have a single source...Read More...
Hi cc407, Thanks for the great food for thought. What you've described should work fine, and given that you've got 5 inputs, I think using the S1 Pro as mixer for the vocal microphones is a terrific workaround. ST PS - I hope to get the S1 Pro into the Sketcher in the next week or so.Read More...

S1 Pro Presets

Hi guys, I'm a new member of the community Just got a brand new S1 pro, and will be testing it right quick to give my review. So far I've found a defect in a volume knob fonction. I have a noob question regarding the Tonematch presets : I understood these could be selected to match a specific guitar or vocal mic, but where are these options with just a switch on the S1? What "mic" and "guitar" positions actually account for in detail? Thanks RobinRead More...
Hi Robin, I've checked with our team here (USA) and it's best if you work directly with the dealer to get a replacement. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for providing all the information and the video. STRead More...

Where do you store your S1 Pro between gigs

I found a handy spot to store my S1 Pro between gigs. Note: This is not an official recommendation. STRead More...
Thanks ST. This is where my basic interest in things takes over. My needs do not warranty the F-Series of products but my inquisitiveness in most things to do with music and amplification hasn't stopped working just because I basically only need the L1 side of things. S1 Pros as Front of House with F1 Subwoofer

Hello ST and the Bose Community, I was able to get a test at a live gig yesterday. VENUE: Local Winery, in the winter I play indoors and in smaller room upstairs. I would say the room is about 40 X 50 and opens up to a larger room on the side. Attentive crowd at best although our band seems to get the crowd up and moving and there was much dancing by the end of the gig!! I have used an Model L1s with B2 many time in the past and it worked great in this room. There was about 50 or so in the...Read More...
Excellent JD, I am excited to hear your result!. The room seems similar to the one I had a show in last Saturday and to your point #3, that was the driver for me, I did not want to be to loud. I was asked twice to turn down and did not get that reaction when I played there last month, same room, and used the L1S/B2.... I am sure the e-Kit with the driving kick at times contributed to the sound being more noticeable at times and we had some snow which for Northern VA is not to common so the...Read More...

Just Received my S1 Pro

I'm a happy Bose user. I do 20+ solo gigs a month with acoustic guitar and vocals and use a Plat Acoustic for some vocal harmonies I'm in my 5th year and started off with the AER Compact 60 on a microphone stand and loved it. It sounded natural, clear and carried surprisingly well with lots of power. About 2 years in I had an opportunity to pick up a L1 Compact at a good price and started using that. I hated the preset and found it was really hard to dial in a good sound, so I had to use an...Read More...
I just completed my 2nd gig with the S1 running on battery power and it passed with flying colors. This is one nice sounding portable unit. Here's a quick photo of my set up using the T1 and the Play Acoustic. I'll try and post better photos, but always forget to take a picture when I'm done the show. KirkRead More...

What microphone are you using with your S1 Pro system?

ST
The S1 Pro system channels 1 and 2 have ToneMatch® Presets for guitar and microphone. What microphone are you using with your S1 Pro? Are you using the ToneMatch® Preset for microphone? How do you like it? Thanks, STRead More...
Is the S1 less picky with the microphones than Bose L1 compact? With the L1 compact I noticed nearly perfect results with SM 58, but other microphones made a good sound, funny thing, that my cheapest microphone sounded very well, but for best results, I use a TC-Helicon VoiceTone T1, but can't do this outdoor.Read More...

Very satisfied

I've had my S1 Pro since 2-2-18.The battery was back ordered because of being sold out.I was very disappointed with the sound until I discovered I hadn't switched on the appropriate channel preset for the microphone and guitar.Once I toggled the switch on,there was that wonderful Bose sound I've become addictive to.I tried all 4 positions, and found I liked the S1 on a speaker stand the best. My battery came in 2-15-18.I followed all the instructions and woke the battery up and started...Read More...
Yes ST,I already have permission to do so.I purchased a wall mount speaker stand like you suggested, thank you.I have it on the wall in my rehearsal room,it works great,It even creates a deeper bass in the wall, sounds fantastic, I'll let you know how the gig goes with the wall mount.Read More...

S1 Pro system as stage monitors with F1 Model 812 and F1 Subwoofer

ST
Hi Everybody, I just did a test with Two F1s (F1 Model 812 with F1 Subwoofer) Two S1 Pros for stage monitors I set up the F1s on the front edge of the stage on either side, facing the audience area. I put the S1 Pros behind the line between the F1s, facing back toward the performers' area. I used the S1 Pros in the horizontal position as stage monitors. There were no other performers; just me being loud (with hearing protection). I pushed the F1s hard. From the stage area behind the F1s,...Read More...

Reconsidering Stereo

ST
I'm reconsidering stereo for small venues. A little history I used to run stereo for my electric guitar (with loads of effect), but I set that aside in June 2004. I remember that distinctly because that's when I got my first L1®. Since then I've run multi-mono. That means I run every sound source on the stage through only one loudspeaker. In the early days, that meant one L1® for each performer. I appreciated the Cocktail Party Effect and veered away from stereo for guitars. I was using L1®s...Read More...

S1 Pro - the switch inside the pole cup

ST
The S1 Pro uses an accelerometer to determine if it is in the tilt-back, horizontal or vertical position. It also has a switch inside the pole cup to determine if it is mounted on a speaker stand. Based on the orientation and the switch, the S1 Pro automatically applies the correct EQ. Here's a picture of the switch inside the pole cup. Close up. It's not that shiny in there. It's just the way the light hit and bounced around. STRead More...

S1 Review / Questions

used my S1 for a small gig last night and was a bit disappointed. Small bar, fairly quiet, I'm setup in corner, behind bar... but by no means rowdy or loud. I had the speaker on a chair behind me... ran my D18 and sm58 directly into their respective channels. Just a couldn't get a good sound. Tinny at times, muddy at others, as I tried both tilted back and flat positions (and yes that does completely change what you hear).. I guess I was hoping it was going to be a plug n play experience,...Read More...
Hi seamuspg, One of my more cynical buddies says, "They pay us for equipment rental. We provide transport, setup, tear-down and entertainment for free." I have a different view, but that's for another conversation. Bose has given us a versatile tool with lots of options. They can tell us about how they imagined we would use it (abbreviated manual), and we get to experiment and share experiences in the real world. That's one of reasons they provide this community platform. Generally speaking,...Read More...

S1 Pro Busking Power Questions

Musicianthomas
My good news is that I have an S1 Pro & Battery on the way today!! The better news is that it is a gift! So I will definitely be taking it out, reviewing, and putting it through more than several situations outside, inside, small venue gigs, etc. My question has to do with busking power sources. I want to be able to use my Infinity Looper, TC Helicon Mic Looper, TC Helicon Chorus pedal, VoiceLive 3 Extreme, and The T1 Tonematch just as I do in my shows with the L1 Model 2 /B2 Module and...Read More...
Hi Tom, thanks for this really detailed report on the battery power generator. I'm really glad that it's delivering in such a way for you. It really does seem to be a good decision for you to have made when you decided to buy it. When we step out into unknown territory it's always interesting to see where the road takes us. If we can do this with a safety net at the beginning (here testing before going out on the road with the gear) it's even better. After such a test I can't really see you...Read More...

S1 Pro system with Guitar Amp Modellers

ST
Hi Everybody, When I heard about the S1 Pro system I was curious to know how it would perform with a guitar amp modeller. You may already know that my favourite rig for small electric guitar gigs is my Kemper Profiling Amp with an L1® Compact. For bigger rooms I use the L1® Model II. Yesterday I spent some quality time with the S1 Pro and these units Boss GT-1 Kemper Profiling Amp The Boss GT-1 is a great little unit I carry it in the car most of the time in case there's a chance to play an...Read More...
During the days where roadies transported and carried my gear I never really worried about weight and how much stuff I was using. At the height of it all I was using 2 full Marshall stacks (2 heads + 4 x 4x12). At my age where I carry it myself less is definitely more. Hence Kemper Profiler + Remote + L1 (Compact or Model II). I sometimes ask myself about the pro's and con's regarding the "Cocktail Party Effect". In the old days (before stereo effects), or just using mono effects as a...Read More...

My S1 Pro Battery Test & Review

Musicianthomas
With S1 Pro threads all over the place wasn't quite sure where to post my results with installing, charging, and using the battery, so just started this one. My power longevity test also involved a new 500 Watt power generator to run my Voicelive 3 Extreme, a Pigtronix Infinity Looper, a Helicon Corona Chorus, a Baggs DI, and the T1, before going into the S1 Pro, but those successful generator results are for another post and will be of more interest to buskers etc needing a good portable...Read More...
Hi MusicianThomas, Thank you for doing this! I appreciate how thorough you were in your review and report. And yes, it's perfect to have started a new discussion to talk about the battery. I dreaded doing the run down test. It would have been too long, too loud, too much. You have given us great information, and I'm sure it will be helpful to the many people who will read this. The six hour figure is conservative. Others may get results closer to that if they push the S1 Pro hard with highly...Read More...
