L1 and humidity

i live in Kailua-Kona, HI. how are the L1 systems going to hold up in a climate where salty humidity prevails? things tend to rust and/or oxidize rather quickly here.Read More...
hey ike biddy - All of our product designs go through a kind of torture called accelerated life testing. One of those crazy tests is a salt fog test, where we put the L1 into an extremely corrosive environment for many hundreds of hours to simulate the effects of years in environments like yours. I expect you won't have any problems with the L1 where you live. Hope that helps, BillRead More...

T1 Outputs vs. Inserts

skillydally
Quick question: I've read over the T1 manual, and as far as I can tell, channels 1-3 have their own individual pre-amp outputs but do not have external FX inserts, like the L1 Classic does. Is this correct? I'm personally not concerned with this b/c I don't use external effects. But I wanted to make sure I understood the inputs/outputs of the T1. -MarkRead More...
Hey ST, I've been stewing about the lack of insert in the new T1. For the last few months I've been using the new Boss FDR1 Fender Deluxe Reverb modeling pedal as a boost for acoustic lead or classic electric sound, and Insert was the easiest way to get it in. First, because with the Taylor Expression System it is important to maintain the balanced line, which you can't do with a standard pedal. But, the Taylor K4-EQ also has an insert, so that solves that. But - I have since ditched the ES...Read More...

Model II's at guitar center?

L1II, T1, and Drummers

I am a little stumped by the decision of putting only three mic preamps into the T1 since most acoustic drummers would need a minimum of four - kick, snare, and two overheads. Is it possible to run two T1s into a single L1II powerstand? Digital output of the first T1 and analog Master Output of the second T1 into one L1II powerstand. This would give a total of six mic preamps. Robert LRead More...
Ric I agree about getting used to V/e drums. It's because we're so used to a live kit. It takes some getting used to because it's a totally different instrument. My impression is that they don't sound as loud as an acoustic kit (probably because my ears aren't ringing as much). But when you play back a one-mic (stereo mic) recording of the performance, it sounds perfect. Our drummer put his level where he thought it should be and it's, um, where it should be. I've been away for a week, but...Read More...

T1 Availability...

StuartD
Hi: I don't want to start sounding all paranoid but today I recevied a phone call from my Local Guitar Center store salesperson, after trying this past weekend to order a T1, power supply, and microphone stand adaptor. The salesperson claims he spoke with Bose re: availability of the T1 and he said that Bose told him that "...The T1 will be available at the end of June. We don't know when the power supply for it will be available nor do we have a price for it." No mention of the microphone...Read More...
Just pre-ordered the T1, Power Supply and Mic Stand mount as well from Bose Direct. The telesales rep also told me ship date is May 25th. Sounds like I'll have just in time for my birthday - June 1 !!!Read More...

Another T1 Question...

StuartD
Hi: I haven't seen this question asked so I apologize if the answer already exists and I haven't seen it. My understanding is that, if I don't plug in my Remote control on my L1, I'll get half power output out of the speaker tower (half volume level). Will this also be the case if I connect a T1 to aux 3 (or 4) without having the Remote plugged in? I know I'll discover the answer when I get my hands on a T1 and experiment with it, but I'm just trying to get some heads-up info on the thing so...Read More...
Hi: I rarely have ever used that feature Tom. It has never seemed to make any difference whether I have the button pushed in or out. So I generally leave it out. Once in a while I play around with it to see what it might do but honestly I've never seen it to make a difference. So I don't expect to miss it. The thing that caused me the most low-end feedback was the Lo (filter?) button on the Microphone portion. Keeping the button pushed in usually solved that problem. Since I stopped using...Read More...

Model II, B1 and Isolation

How isolated is the L1 and B1 from the floor? I have a regular gig (OMB Guitar, Vox) at a bar that has difficulties with the neighbors. If I turn up too loud, the nice old man calls and asks the bar to turn down. We like the guy and we hate to bother him late at night, but when I turn down to the level he's asking for, my sound just doesn't make it through the room or can't be heard over the Friday night din. It's partly this situation that's drawn me to the L1 in the first place. I don't...Read More...
So, I found this: Auralex SubDude It's 15x15, so it'll be a tight fit for the B1, but I imagine it would fit between the swing-out feet on the Model II and not cost me much more room. I could lay the B1 flat on it, but it looks like the feet of the B1 are a few inches in from the front and back of the unit. Can anyone verify that they are less than 15" apart? Obviously, I'm totally obsessing over my future Model II... but I don't know what to do with myself while I wait to place my order.Read More...

Wish List for future L1's

Rather than focusing what on what some folks feel are shortcomings of the Model II, as I've seen in another thread, I thought that a "Wish List" for the next new model would have a nice positive look and feel and would serve a similar purpose. Bose engineers can't please everybody 100%, but I see plenty of evidence that they listen to L1 users and incorporate a lot of their ideas. And I think, too, that ideas may have a little more presence and appeal if they are presented this way. At this...Read More...
One thing I'd like to see is some sort of simple, yet elegant solution for churches who choose the L1 system for the worship services. We use 4 L1's at our church from a musical perspective, life has never been better. But when it comes to the pastor and/or announcement mic and piping audio to the L1 for video clips, etc, it is a bit of a challenge. I realize this is outside the scope of what the L1 is designed for, but since more and more churches are adopting L1's, it might be worth...Read More...

MII without the T1

sarkis
Can anyone tell me: does the MII run at maximum output without the T1? The Classic master output runs at 50% without the remote plugged in. Is this the case with the MII? ThanksRead More...
Hi Sarkis, Hilmar set me straight on this about a year ago See it in context Anyway - after reading that I went and did some experiments (with ear protection). My understanding (and it seems to be what is happening in practice for me anyway)... There is a point on the Remote Master Level, beyond which there is no appreciable increase in volume . If I have the inputs set well*** then that point is 12:00 o'clock. *** Inputs set well = Channel 1/2 Trims solid green/flickering in the reds Remote...Read More...

dangling cables...

acousticaoc
Well, I probably won't be getting a model II at anytime soon but I am interested in the T1 for a number of reasons. What concerns me is that now, I run my mic cable, keyboard cables, guitar cable very neatly along the ground and plug them into the base of the PS1 - with the new ToneMatch hooked onto either the side of the L1 or the side of your mic stand for easy access, won't the input cables from mics, instruments be kind of dangling in back of and around the L1 or worse yet, around the...Read More...
Hey, Mark - Cat 5E or Cat6, 6E, or 7 cabling is fine for the L1/T1. These are designed for ever faster bit rates for broadband computing. The T1/L1 has plenty of bandwidth on any of them to transmit your audio. See Ken's comments in the wiki: T1 Cables BillRead More...

Bummed

I am just getting back on the Bose site, after purchasing my L1 a few weeks ago and am so bummed that there's a new one out "Model II" I wish the folks at Bose would have mentioned this when I was buying from them just a few weeks ago. I would've waited to buy the upgraded system. I am happy with my system other than mic feedback probs, but would have loved these added featuresRead More...

T1 updateable?

I was wondering if the T1 had the possibility of more effects being added to it later? I don't sing with effects, but I do occasionally like a chorus or another effect that is cover song specific. The reverbs and delays are nice, but wouldn't prompt me to buy one. If it had a chorus some of the other effects that aren't spacial, then I would be all over it.Read More...

First gig with the Model II and T1

Hey gang, I got my first gig in last night with the new gear. What a blast. We were doing a benefit show for the local softball league so if we had an "oh NO" moment (I was using prototype gear ... not the real stuff) then I would not have felt bad stopping for a while to swap stuff out/trouble shoot. Luckily we had no major issues and had a fun gig. Here's the setup: Stage right: John -- Keys, electric guitar to Boss modeler, vocals -- Single bass Model II with T1 Stage mid-right: me --...Read More...
Hi DocWhodat, I'll take a stab at the stereo to mono idea. Most, if not all, edrum modules have an "L/Mono Out" jack, or similar way to send a mono signal to a mono amplification system. When the other jack ("R") is used the signal is sent L/R in stereo keeping the stereo separation "intact". The "stereo summed to mono" concept sends each of the L and R outputs to the PS1 separately and these are combined inside the PS1. This may produce a better mono sound than the internal edrum summing...Read More...

Availibility date

Howdy, My friend just called and ordered a model II w/ 1 b1 and the t1. He was told it would ship in two weeks, three weeks max. Can anybody confirm this ?? L1/II too expensive?

colcliff-at-bose
All I've been reading reactions to our prices and our general introduction of the new Model II. I'd like a word or two with you about this (maybe a bit more than two): The Model II is a dramatic improvement over the Model I in terms of portability and convenience, especially when you consider the systems approach we took and the "control where you play" improvements manifesting the T1, the remote control answer to the R1 on the model I. This remote (Mr T1) is also where you plug in, making...Read More...
That was my thinking. I find the same thing in woodworking machinery. Well, really, there is a whole lot of stuff that is the same price no matter where you purchase it. I always thought a manufacturer basically dictated what its distributors would sell something for, or lose their privilege as a distributor, or "authorized reseller." I mean, I don't know if that's how it works, that's just what I thought.Read More...

well when i first got the system, and also had tried another ( was thinkin maybe doin stereo) they both seemed to do it. But if you would play preprogrammed music and set the trims to where the...Read More...

Upgrade Please!!

Hey Glenn, This is a very common question so I'll take a shot at answering it. First of all, Bose is pretty darn good (in my opinion) at designing and manufacturing innovative products. We're not so good (again in my opinion) at buying used gear. Believe it or not, we tried to figure out how we could do it for this launch. The work we did gave us results that are pretty clear; the secondary market that exits, namely eBay and your local “wanted/for-sale” lists (like www.craigslist.com) make...Read More...
