why 1/4"?

JohnL
Why did you choose to go with a 1/4" only input rather than the universal Neutrik combo jack that can accept XLR and 1/4"?Read More...
Bose says the reason they use a 1/4" input on the L1/II powerstand is to prevent someone from plugging a microphone into the powerstand. If you plug a microphone into the powerstand you will not get adequate level but it will not damage the powerstand or the microphone - no big deal. By using a 1/4" input on the powerstand you could mistakenly plug the power amp output (100-500 watts or more) from a powered mixer or the EXT speraker output from a guitar amp (20, 40, 100 watts) into the...Read More...

Stereo Operation

funkbroker
I couldn't find an answer to this so I'm hoping someone out there knows... I see that the T1 has a pair of stereo inputs. Does the L1 II have the ability to reproduce that stereo image through the alternating L-R angling of the drivers or are those inputs summed to mono?Read More...

Built-in effects vs External dedicated units

We all have heard/listened/lived the shortfalls of mixers with everything in it. Such as powered mixers never push a speaker cabinet like a dedicated power amp at the same or less wattage. Same has always held true for builit in effects. The effects don't ever match those of dedicated signal processors. I read somewhere on bose.com the T1 effects described as "studio-class" effects. Can this be true??? Can we truly dump the rack full of dead weight called compressors, reverb/delay...Read More...
I think they compare very well, but don't listen to me. Everyone will have to decide for themselves when it comes out. I know that may sound like a bit of a cop out but it's the truth. Reverb is a funny thing to musically evaluate Ive found. The real test is how it sounds in a musical situation as opposed to just kind of hitting a quick note to listen to the reverb. Ive been really surprised setting reverbs in the past - I get something that sounds great in the mix but when you hear it on...Read More...

T1 Master (or Aux) out for...

BabyBlueEyes
RECORDING It is great that we'll be able to record via a master or aux out, but how about things that we don't want amplified live? Here's my specific case: Vocal, Bass, Piano, vocal 2/flute - these items mic'd, picked-up, or lined-out. Drums are straight acoustic with no amplification. Sometimes there may be an additional horn or two. Is it possible (will it be possible) to mic the drums (and/or horns) for the sake of being able to record the entire show, but not have them amplified on...Read More...
That's a great idea. The Aux output can be fed with any combination of the inputs and since it has two "pre-fade" options you record a also channels that don't need to be on the master output.Read More...

L1/II PRICE INCREASE

The Bose website now shows the price of L1/II with T1 module and 2 B1s at $3298. Wasn't it $2999 a few days ago? Robert LRead More...
Hi Ken, Sorry, my mistake. I have another question. Could you give us a list of the Bose equipment used by the demo band at the Music Messe. Number of T1, B1, L1, etc. What would the cost of that entire system be if purchased from Bose? Please include shipping and California sales tax. Robert LRead More...

quick Messe report from Ken

Ken-at-Bose
Hi Everybody, I am just returning from Messe and I am at the airport in Frankfurt. The show was amazing. Our large demo room (60 x 100) was packed to the gills the whole time. We are definitely in a different space with acceptance of the L1 now and it is very rewarding to see. The reaction of our European dealers to the new system was outstanding and we took advance orders well in excess of what we planned. The band we use here in Europe for demos just absolutely KILLED it. More when I come...Read More...
Sounds like the price of the new system didn't scare off the Europeans. Since the Euro has a favorable exchange rate to the US $ they may be getting it for a little bit less. Robert LRead More...

Storing Scenes?

Am I to understand that with the new T1 if I plug in three instruments I can store all the levels digititally and the next time I plug it in my levels will be the same, unless I change the gain on my L1 classic? The reason I ask is that currently I'm running my drummers e-kit through a small mixer then into the L1 so that I can adjust his volume. I mark down where I put it, but it seems to always need just a little bit of tweaking. So, with the scenes on the T1 I could plug in my vocal,...Read More...
Ric, The only settings that are not saved in a scene is channel volume, master volume, channel trim, and phantom power. I am very excited about this feature as it will save valuable time setting up.Read More...

Mk 1 Sticks into Mk2 base unit ???

If this has been asked some where else in another post, sorry, but I ain't had time to sit and study all mails and info sheets at the mo.... So the question that immediately springs to my mind is... Can the Sticks of Mk1 L1, fit into the base unit on the Mk 2's.... regards NikRead More...
Well, then you would indeed lose the preset support on your Beta's. Not a huge deal, I suppose. Just a bit more tweaking on your mixer.Read More...

Pricing on T1 Tone Match Accessories

StuartD
Hi: I'm looking forward to purchasing the T1 Tone Match engine when it hits the stores. However, I'll need to purchase the optional power supply, to be able to use it with my L1. I also might consider purchasing the microphone stand adaptor. Though I've looked, I can't find pricing for these accessories anywhere on the L1 web site. Are they there and I'm not looking in the right place? If they aren't, can anyone tell me the price for these items? Thanks, StuRead More...
It's because they're not in our system yet. I don't recall a pricing suggestion on either one. It's going to be a little bit before any of it is available.Read More...

T1 presets available for L1 system?

JohnNell
Will there be a subset of T1 presets that could be selected and loaded into an existing L1 system? I would like to "fill up" the current unused preset slots with some I could define via software, or use from the new ones available via the T1/L1M2 development, thus giving me (and other current L1 owners) a "taste of the future" for minimal costs. Will we ever have the ability to develop our own ToneMatch(tm) presets? I think I love the idea of tone presets being able to "match" whatever the...Read More...
MikeZ-at-Bose - Thanks for the quick reply! My hopes have been squashed! Oh well, not all is lost. I see the T1 will still work with the L1 Classic, so I'll just have to wait and explore that route whenever it becomes available. Thanks for continuing your new product developments in our little area of the Bose Corporation! I, for one, appreciate the dedication ya'll seem to have in furthering amplified sounds!Read More...

Model II bags and cables

Have the bags that are going to be used with the new system been finalized? ALso, how long is the cable from the T1 to the L1? A big selling point pushed by Bose (and enjoyed by me)was the ability to adjust your sound remotely with the R1 remote. ALthough pictures right now are showing the T1 attached to the cylinder I would feinitely be attaching mine to my mic stand or an independent stand nearby my mic.Read More...
Sludgefactory, Included with the T1 is a mounting bracket for the L1 however the mic stand bracket is an optional accessory. The price and availability will be added to the site in the coming weeks. Thanks NeilRead More...
