Wanted to praise the local Bose store

I forgot to do this at the time, but I wanted to let everyone here know the awesomeness of the Bose store in Towson, MD. I live about an hour away from there and was nearby to play a gig one night with my band. Unpacking, I realize the Neutrik cable for the B1 is not with me. I looked online to see if the local GuitarCenter (since it was very close) sold just the cable, but no luck. I called the Bose store and explained the situation to I think it was Matt. He put me on hold, came back and...Read More...

L1 pattern + high stage = any problems?

I'm about to do my first gig with my brand new L1S. This may be a dumb question, but with the linear sound wave patterns the L1 is shown to produce, what would happen with a fairly high stage and a seated audience? Every example I see seems to be with a low stage or none at all. Just curious. Will there be any dropoff in noticeable volume for people potentially seated BELOW the main sound path and close to the stage?Read More...
Hi Wes, " I can't see putting it on the ground in front of you. I would lose all monitor effect. If I have to do that, I imagine I'll just get on the ground with it." I would probably do that too.Read More...

Channel 1 & 2 Line Out on L1 Classic

Which controls on L1 Classic effect the signal coming from the channel 1 & 2 line out jacks? Trim? Preset buttons? Tone controls on R1 remote? Level controls on R1 remote? I read the article about the line outs on the wiki and I'm still a little confused. I guess I don't know the difference between, for example, Post trim and pre trim. Sure would appreciate if someone would clarify. Thanks.Read More...

Compact or 1S for acoustic + vocal?

flaat
Hello, I've been close to buying a L1-system a couple times before, and well I'm standing at the crossroads sgain. This will normally be used with an acoustic guitar and a vocal mic. Guitar alternates between strumming and fingerplay. People sing along. Small room. Say about 20 people present, rarely more than 50. My gut tells me to go with the Compact and run the mic and guitar without effects. Simple rigging, neat setup. But then, some of the reviews I'm reading say the guitar sounds are...Read More...

Difference between L1 Model 1, L1 PS1 ans new L1 Model 1s

Hi, I have an L1 Model 1, and an L1 PS1. I know the primary difference is that the PS1 has outputs where the L1 Model 1 does not, and the stacks are not interchangeable, but are there any other differences between these two? Also, I'm thinking of replacing these two units with two L1 Model 1S' for the weight. (Don't really need all the inputs). Can anyone tell me the power output difference? I do a lot of outdoor gigs as both DJ and with a live band, always running through a board. ThanksRead More...

Model 1 without Bass?

Hi, my daughter is in a band and needs a PA just for her singing ... the band have their own amps etc ... I know this is not an ideal situation and will need extra equipment down the road, but as a start I thought I could buy her a Bose l1 Model 1 (new) and give her my Bose tonematch (I already have this, which I bought with my compact) My thinking is that if the band fails, she will have a decent system for solo work? Now the reason I write is I am wondering whether she could get away...Read More...

Model 1S/B1..... right for me?

OK, the decision has been made. We will be purchasing our first Bose system in the very near future. From what I can tell, the Model 1S/B1 bass combo is the right fit for us, but would love feedback from the Bose veterans here. Our setup is two mics (SM58), tracks (fed from an iPhone) and an acoustic guitar for most stuff. I actually build custom acoustic guitars and always have a couple on stage. I run K&K pickups with an outboard preamp that accepts batteries or phantom power.Read More...
Ultimately, You should do what you feel is the most comfortable for you but I would agree with Austin about the flexibility of Guitar Center being a musician-centric store. As far as the T1 goes, I say it often that the T1 is the most powerful mixer on the market for $499. Add in the proprietary technology of ToneMatch and zEQ and you have some tools not found on any other mixer.Read More...

L1 compact with karaoke machine and mixer

Hello all, just ordered my first L1 compact today and I have couple questions for my future setup. I host a karaoke venue in a small club about 50-100 people. I intent to plug my karaoke machine to L1 compact channel 2 via RCA jack, since I have two SM58 connect to a 16 channels mixer (i know way two much for 2 mics but that's all i have at the moment). I had seen somewhere in the forum that I can use XLR output from my mixer to connect to channel 1 of L1 compact to utilized multiple mics,...Read More...

using the sub with other systems

Hello. I have been using a L1 classic and sub since 2005 or so. I am wondering if it is possible, if there is a way to connect the sub into a traditional system. Specifically a Soundcraft EFX-8 mixer and 10" powered speakers. Crazy question I guess, but just wondering.Read More...
The B1 or B2 could be used with any system with appropriate amp and crossover. Without a crossover the speaker would receive a full range signal and while that might not cause damage, it would not sound good. O..Read More...

L1 for monitor on a shallow stage

I just recently read an interesting thread here somewhere, but can not find it. It touched on the Model II vs. the Model I for a monitor on a shallow or narrow stage. There was also a link to a L1 wiki about it. I usually end up dealing with a shallow stage set and in the past have always used the Model II as the monitor. What I got out of the conversation was that the Model 1 would be better for this type of application. While I don't own a Model I, I do own a Compact and wondered if this...Read More...
Thanks ST. That was the discussion and the wiki link. I guess I misunderstood, between the Model 1 and Model II though. Clear now.Read More...

New to L1 compact, 2 part question

Anyone use the compact? I just ordered one (should be in Friday) to replace my old pa (2 jbl eon g2 15"). I was wondering if there would be a difference in sound if I use the gxt direct into the compact vs going thru a mixer first (i currently own a behringer 1002fx). I want to go into the first channel and use the guitar thru on the gxt to plug my guitar (martin ooocxe) into channel 2 and use tonematch. I know with a mixer I would get more eq and channels but I barely eq and I play solo...Read More...

New user karaoke setup

Hey guys just picked up a model 1s with tonematch and b1 system. Used mainly for home karaoke. I was planning on hooking the karaokee system which is a hard drive based system. My plan was to purchase a RCA-> 1/4" TRS(bought already) insert it from the karaoke to one of the inputs on the tonematch. Have the video go straight to my tv. I have 2 shure wireless mics so I'll hook those up to inputs 1&2. I've tried fiddling with other mixers and decided to do it right once and cry once.Read More...

How to explain the L1 in 5 mins

Imagine you are talking to a board of directors or the church leaders I have been given a 10 minute presetation slot. I wish to explain church amplification and sound systems and how to do it better - because of the L1. The audience is mostly not interested and not audio/ musical literate. Where do I start? There is so much to say. I know the Bose videos |:L1 approach and the history of amplification. My audience don't have time for that. Has anyone given a demonstration in a board room. Can...Read More...

help with choosing the right system

Hi to all I need some help\advice on the system and components to use. My sound needs range is relatively wide and I will try to put it i a a way that will not confuse the reader the way that I am confused First, I live it the far and troubled middle east, more specific in Israel and even more specific in he dead sea. It's hot here and v e r y dry. Music instrument's heaven is not here.. The only Bose dealer in Israel holds in stock only the compact model and I have not get a chance to hear...Read More...
Hi camoha, And we're back. All of the L1® models have extremely wide horizontal dispersion. The Model II gives you wider dispersion of the mid-highs and highs than the Model I. I did some testing around this idea and you can read about that here: Model I and Model II Comparison / Stage Monitoring Experience Although the primary focus was on stage monitoring, I have since found that the ideas presented are equally applicable to the audience. I know that there's a lot of money involved and...Read More...

How Does The Number Of Instruments Affects The L1

Hi, I have a difficulty making practical use of both: the number of people in the audience as a value to describe the L1 loudness , and the affect of adding more instruments to the L1 (via the T1) on it's practical clarity. Regarding the number of people in the audience, Are bose guys talking about 300 row seated guests in 10 close rows of 30 people or are they talking about 60 tables of 4-6 people in a restaurants back yard near a happy and noisy pool full with kids? thees are very...Read More...

did I buy the right system? Acoustic guitar, singer-songwriter

Hey all, I'm a solo act, acoustic guitar, singer-songwriter. I had/have a compact and love it. But I've outgrown it for some gigs, especially outdoor ones. So I bought a Model II w/B2. I got it today and didn't realize how heavy it is!! Did I go overboard? Would the 1s/B1 have been enough? I didn't realize how heavy it would be. I know "enough" is a relative term. I suppose it depends on just how "large" of gig you do. But if I get to a really "large" gig I'll plug into the board. My real...Read More...
The Model II with a single B1 is the best for acoustic and voice solo (which is what I do). I have a second B2, and I stopped using it months ago when I realized it wasn't adding anything appreciable to the sound. Bose L1 and Yamaha Tyros 4 ?

I am looking for feedback from a Tyros 4 owner who uses a Bose L1 setup. I am considering buying a Bose L1 . Not sure what it should include. Wireless Connection To L1 1S

I've just purchased 2 L1 1S with B2's system to use with my Yamaha Keyboard. I have been considering positioning the 2 system away from where the keyboard is and thinking about using one FM transmitter and two receivers (One at each L1 setup for stereo). Is there something available that would make this easier or better? ThanksRead More...
Thanks for responding. I have a stereo FM transmitter I was considering using 2 FM receivers (one on each L1 setup) and using only one channel of the stereo out (Left or Right) opposite the other thereby having complete stereo with the L1's. The output of my keyboard (Tyros 4 and Tyros 1) is high quality stereo and is fed into a stereo mixer. I will be using the output of the mixer to feed my FM transmitter. I was interested in finding out if anyone have used an L1 setup fed remotely...Read More...
