My L1 arrives today, new to the forum

Hello, all. I am a singer-songwriter who does solo acoustic shows as well as a duo with my keyboard playing wife who also sings. We've recently been blessed with more work and I've seen fellow players using the L1. My research tells me it's exactly what I need for the solo shows. It's being delivered today, and I'm really psyched. Is anyone using the system with a small mixer, not the T1, to accommodate two performers? If so, are there any details or possible problems I should be aware of?Read More...
Hi guitarvocs, The Compact is a great system and I use mine so often that it pretty much lives in the trunk of my car when it's not on a stage somewhere. It's so small that I don't miss the trunk space. Please let us know how you like running with the mixer. STRead More...

Help: getting a dry signal from T1 + L1 Compact

Hi Everyone, I am using a T1 Tone engine into an L1 Compact to amplify my speaking voice, as well as a wireless microphone which is passed around an audience. The system works well, but the natural T1 settings have too much reverb, and people have complained. My microphones are going into the T1, then out to the Compact. I know there is a way to turn off the reverb, but I am so nontechnical that it is a bit confusing. here is my request: 1. how do I turn off the reverb on both microphone...Read More...

Current compact owner looking to upgrade

I've been looking at this forum for some time now and decided to finally join. As an owner of the compact (no T1) for a few years now, playing mostly solo acoustic shows at various bars, I've found that I need more punch. The other issue is that I often now play duo acoustic shows (2 mice, 2 guitars) which the compact can't handle even if I got a T1. I've been researching for some time and I'm convinced the 1S will be plenty of sound for what I do. This time I will be getting the T1 so we...Read More...

Thanks and praise for Bose product support

I've been using L1 Mod 2 with T1 for over 5 years and for once, I made a purchase with no buyer's remorse. A few months ago I started to have the T1 lcd go bad blue blank on me. I did the patch and update, but it would still blank out intermittently, and started to go blank right before a gig. I called Bose support, and they had me in the database and shipped a new unit same day! No questions, no hassles, I was beside myself. All they asked was to send old unit back, and they took care of...Read More...

trying to find an active sub like my B2's

tablatom
Hi fellow L1 users. Haven't posted here for some time. I have 2 MKII's with 2 B2's. I love the B2's so much. I wish Bose would make them active so one could use them with other branded front of house gear. I have a pair of Yamaha DXR15's. http://www.andertons.co.uk/act...-1x15-pa-speaker.asp They are an awesome speaker. I am looking for a light weight ( 25-30kg ) B2 sounding sub. Ann NEWS or Rumors of a MODEL 3 being released soon?!?!

I will be purchasing 2 Bose Model 2's with B2's and Tonematches this week. On several online sites the Bose are now 10% off. (which equates to a $600 plus savings on 2 systems. My bandmate believes a NEW MODEL 3 will be announced at summer NAMM in July and be for sale soon after. Nothing would make me more angry than spending all that money on a product that Bose will upgrade. It has been like 7 years since the Model 2's were released and seems like a reasonable time to come out with new...Read More...
Hi trav12, Thank you for joining the Forum. I understand your concerns and at the same time.... I wouldn't read anything into the sale. You can find that on the Bose site too. They have various kinds of promotions every year. As you've identified, there are significant savings to be had. Bose never comments on new products before they are officially released. One thing you can do though - if you buy direct from Bose, you have a 45 day return policy. .. from Bose Returning an order...Read More...

Bose L1 model 1S vs Fender Expo

Just heard about this Fender Expo series and have always been a huge fan of the Bose L1's. I am planning to get the 1S soon and just wondered how the new Fender Expo series compares to the 1S. Obviously they both claim to be able to handle audiences of up to 300 people. I have only found a few youtube videos of the fender people showcasing it at NAMM 2014 so not a real customer based perspective. Everything else is retailers offering for sale. Other than being about 60% the cost of the L1...Read More...
Need to make a correction after looking. The B1 holds two 5.25" speakers and the B2 holds two 10's. Maybe the Expo would stand up to handle 300, but I find these ratings kind of funny. My L1 Model 2 with two B1's would not handle 300 in the bars I work in. The people are loud and partying. When there is maybe 150 in this frame of mind it is doable. Now with the same unit and in a theater type setting with 300 attentively listening, yes.Read More...

I dont wont and dont need T1 mix, because we have digital mix allen&heath QU-16 Do you think, the sound will be nice without T1? The future of the T1?

As i see there is not much further developement for the Tonematch. No new presets, no new firmware. There are more feature discussions for a new T1 on the forum. I bought 2 T1 in the last month but if it is a dying product i don't want to invest in another 2 that my band would need. Some clever changes could change my mind. 1) I don't get, why i have to fill my preset slots (A, B, C) with presets i don't need.I would like to create a "favourite slot" - could be A, B or C - in which i gather...Read More...

Praise worthy service

Oftentimes forums seem to be one complaint after another. I had a great service experience with Bose so I thought I'd share it. My L1 Model I was having an issue cutting out. After a couple troubleshooting calls that were very helpful, but didn't solve the problem, I made one more call to the service department. They stated that it was no problem, they would replace my unit. I told them that, given the fact that I'm a full time musician, I couldn't be without a sound system. No problem they...Read More...

feedback on vocal

Please help me someome!!!! I have the L1 with B2 base and T1 tonematch. I am a solo singer acoustic guitarist. I play at open air venues and clubs. I use a Maton E325c 6 string acoustic and SENNHEISER md431 11 MIC. The guitar is fine no problems and no feedback. the vocals are another matter. Hi Raymaur, Sorry that you are having trouble with feedback. I looked back over our previous conversations and it sounds like you were doing okay about a year ago. Has something changed? Here's a link to that previous conversation . Are you using a TC-Helicon vocal processor in your signal chain? If so, you will want to either turn off the "Tone" processing in that unit, or bypass the T1® Vocal Microphone Preset. Having both on at the same time can lead to feedback. Other than that the most...Read More...

Recording Direct from Bose Compact AGAIN???

Hey ST, I know that we discussed this issue a few months ago. But, I have a little different situation that I'm trying to work out, and I thought you can help point me in the right direction. I'm trying to record from the Compact LINE OUT directly into a (CANNON VIXIA HF R300)camcorders LINE IN. Hi Ray, I wasn't overly concerned about the impedance. You said, " it sounded pretty good! However, I did have some distortion on some of the Loud parts of the song," so I was pretty sure this was an issue with the level. Yes - the RCA outputs (and the ¼ inch jack) are controlled by the volume controls on the Compact. I don't think that this will be better. If you use a ¼ inch jack Tip-Ring-Sleeve output from the Compact... that's mono balanced output. If you connect that to a stereo input...Read More...

Getting most out of T1/acoustic guitar sound through xlr?

Not sure why, but I'm hearing through a T1, guitars usually sound better through the XLR input vs 1/4 inch. Can someone explain why that is when 99% of guitars hook up via 1/4 inch jack? So my question is 2 part, I've seen XLR adapters that fit over 1/4 and other cables that have 1/4 inch on one end and XLR on the other end. Is there a difference in sound quality by using the adapter vs the cable that was made that way? Also I guess what is disappointing is that through a T1 for duo shows...Read More...
Hi jlindy, If you have read (here) that the T1® XLR inputs sound better for guitar than the ¼ inch jack inputs on channels 1,2,3 - if you can post a link to it, I'd really appreciate it. L1 Compact - Acoustic Guitar "feedback"

New to the forum but hoping someone might have some advice. I'm using my L1 compact with a Taylor 810ce. Help: T1 + L1 Compact + Apogee Duet 2+ ipad

Hello everyone, I have just purchased an L1 Compact and a T1 Tone Engine and would like some help figuring out how to use it for an ongoing part of my job that requires amplificatoin (through the Compact) and recording (using an Apogee Duet 2 & an iPad). I will be micing the audience from two Shure...Read More...
Hi Jeffrey, Thank you for joining the Forum. Congratulations! Thanks for the lucid explanation. You've given this a lot of thought so I can be brief. I like this one. The preamp outs are post trim only. If you've done any tone-shaping with the T1® (e.g. low-cut on audience mic's to reduce handling noise or ambient rumble), that won't be in the recording. I've also found that using y-cables to combine signals can result in significant signal loss. Does that help?Read More...

Tonematch limited inputs

I've looked at countless posts on this site and other and there is always 2 common problems. Not enough inputs and secondary mixer doesn't sound as good as the Tone Match. So, why don't you simply make an expanded version ToneMatch with more channels? 10 is a nice number. The system is proven to fill a room with no problem. How 'bout it Bose??? Can I get an AMEN?Read More...
I guess I'm pointing out the obvious, but, using sub groups to allow separate mixes for multiple L1s is different than using a 10 channel mixer to provide multiple inputs into a single L1. I would be the first to agree that not all musicians / bands, music styles / genres believe their product is suited to the L1 experience, and therefore, those features that are drastically different from a typical dual mono mix into conventional speakers are not compelling to them. On the other hand, those...Read More...
