L1 model 2 hack advice needed - smaller footprint

Bose makes it impossible to attach the speakers to the base without first extending the legs. Once the units are connected, the legs cannot be folded back in. Ok, I get that this is for reasons of safety and stability. However, I must find a way to decrease the enormous 26 x26 footprint this unit makes. I'd like to figure out how to either modify the base so that the speakers attach with the legs folded in, OR build a jumper cable that would allow me to wall mount the speaker unit and place...Read More...

Adjusting Trim, Volume and Feedback

I am a member of an acoustic duo. I know very little about sound system management. We need help! We are using an L1 II, B1 and 2 Tone Match 1 units. First TM1 is connected to the analog input on the L1. Second TM1 is connected to the digital input of the L1. Two Microphones go straight into channels 1 & 2 of the first TM1 . One Resonator Electric guitar runs through Boss pedals and Radial PZ-Pre Preamp to channel 4 of the first TM1 (this guitar needs a boost). One acoustic guitar goes...Read More...
Aloha and good luck! The C1000S are also more "responsive" with less proximity effect so one doesn't have to eat the mic either. Watch for popping "P"s and "B"s though.Read More...

Product support and repair in Hawaii

There's a Farmer's Market I play almost every week. They own a Bose L1S system that has had a consistent problem that may be caused by flaky power and/or a defect in the system. The day usually starts out with the system sounding "muddy" and after a period of time from an hour to 2 or 3 it suddenly "kicks in" with normal eq and sound at a higher volume and a mad dive for the master fader on the mixer. After dealing with it for nearly 3 years, we mainly ignore it. Yesterday was a little...Read More...
Ok, you've convinced me :-) I don't own the system but I'll see what Bose Support says.Read More...

L1 IN A SMALLER ROOM (SHORTER)

Love my L1 S1 system! Wondering if it's possible to use the speaker array directly into the powered base w/o the lower, non speakered, post? This unit uses the 12 speaker array. The room is "a wee small" room with a shorter ceiling. Any one come across this yet? Thanks,Read More...
Hi Dave N. I'm sorry, you cannot connect the top section of the L1 Model 1S directly to the Power Stand. You have to use the lower extension. Does the room have a drop-ceiling? STRead More...

Best Connections from Soundcraft ui24 Mixer to L1 Classic

Hello All, I am in a band that now uses 2 L1 Classics. We have a Soundcraft Ui24 digital Mixer that we put everything through. 2 Guitars acoustic and electric, Keys, Bass, Roland e-drums, 5 vocals. I have read all of the connection threads here, but I haven’t been able to see any specfic to this Mixer. The Mixer has a L and R out in XLR and 1/4 inch and currently we have everything panned to the center. On one of the L1s I have tried the XLR to XLR into Input 1 on the L1 to eliminate noise,...Read More...
Thanks again for all your great advice. I will experiment and let you know which config we end up using. Thanks ! PerryRead More...

Compare BOSE L1-M2-B2 with EVOLVE 50

Here's hoping that this is a compliant question within this forum: I am a one-man band/keyboard player that needs high quality top and especially bottom for up to 200 people. Has anybody benchmarked/compared the overall power, quality and convenience of the BOSE L1-M2-B2 system with the EVO Evolve 50 system? I'd appreciate your feedback and observations.Read More...
I currently own 2 electro-voice evolve 50's and have used 2 Bose L1 model 2's at my church for many years. The Evolve 50 seems louder, 127dB for the Evolve vs 121dB for the L1 model2 The Evolve 50 to my ears sounds like more of a PA system (very punchy), where the Bose L1 Model 2 has a more refined elegant sound I use the Evolve 50s for one of my DJ systems, works really well for that application, but when I perform (vocals plus my acoustic guitar), Bose is always my choice. I will use S1...Read More...

Upgrading system

We are a small group of 3 with three Acoustic-Electric guitars with three vocals. We do a mix of Folk, Country, Classic Rock and Mariachi. We use Sennheiser 935 mics, a 12 hole Behringer mixer, and a L1 compact for our performances. I am seriously thinking of upgrading to L1 model 1 or Model 2, and adding the T8s tonematch to try to get a little more punch for some of our gigs. I really like the Compact but would like to get a just a little more power. So does it make more sense to overboard...Read More...
What a great forum. My concern was that the L1 model 2 which is advertised for up to 500 people might be a little larger than we need since we are so close to doing what we need with the compact, but it sounds like those with the experience feel that the extra money for the model 2 is a smart move since the sound is so much better with 24 speaker array. I also use a TC Helicon Voice Play Live but find I only use it on a few songs and mostly on one setting, so I probably can get close to the...Read More...

Correct Bose L1 system? Home and on the deck for outside entertainment

I'm new to the forum and L1 products. I need a speaker system that allows me to use my home stereo amplifier with CD and Karaoke components, video to TV, to include acoustic/electric guitar and vocals. Can anyone help me match the correct Bose L1 system? Use would be in the home and on the deck for outside entertainment. Thanks - Dan Edit Subject: Previously "The Right Setup" Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...
Hi, Dan; We'd like to help. Please give us some more information. How large is the room where you will set things up? How many people does the room hold? How large is the dock outside? What style of music are you playing for Karaoke? How many people will you be entertaining outside? What devices will you have connected to the system (CD, stereo, TV, Karaoke machine)? What kind of Karaoke machine do you have? Please give us a link to the owner's guide. Will you be running in stereo (needing...Read More...

One or two?

Hey! I'm preparing to purchase either one or two L1 Model 2 B2 systems depending on what I hear in this discussion. The system I need will support 2 acoustics, 2 vocals, and tracks. We might also include bass and electric guitar or Piano/keyboard on occasion. From what I can understand, I will use in ear monitors for the tracks. Venues will be small sanctuaries or multi-purpose rooms. Music will be accoustic Chrisitian contemporary. Advice, please. Thanks.Read More...
I run two L1B2 sets on a T4S and while there are those quantifying the cost on a power / volume basis I can recommend the system from a pure sound quality perspective. i did run 1 set with a T1 and that sounded good. With a T4S and two L1B2 systems there is an apparent lift in fidelity and most of those who know the L1 around me say the same. It is not always a question of two units double power, you still control the volume, but the sound difference is very noticeable.Read More...

How do I connect an LI Model I and an LI Model II, with a T4S mixer? And is it even possible, or a good idea?

I am a solo act, singer and guitarist, and am playing bigger stages now. Please tell me if purchasing an LI Model II is even a good idea, and if I can connect it to my Model I for a bigger sound for more people and bigger stages. And, in addition to buying the new Model II, do I need to purchase anything else, like cords or something? Please answer as best you can with PICTURES. That'd make it much easier to understand! Thanks!Read More...
Hi DMC, There's only one mixer in the picture; the T4S. You don't need a second mixer. You will connect the T4S to the L1 Model II using the ToneMatch port with the ToneMatch cable that comes with the T4S. That's the green line in the picture above. You're welcome. STRead More...

Using a powered monitor with Bose L1 Compact / T1 ToneMatch

I am currently using an L1 compact with a T1 ToneMatch for acoustic performances. I would like to connect an EV powered monitor to the system for larger venues where crowd noise can be an issue. Should I connect to the powered monitor from the T1 'Aux out' or could I also use the 'Main out' on the L1 bass module. Also, from reading previous posts in the forum, I assume I should be using a TRS balanced cable for this type of interface. thanks for your input !Read More...
I think it is better to use Aux Out rather than Main out, then it would not affect the input again of your system when you adjust your monitor (L1 compact) volume.Read More...

Knocking/ popping issues

hi, we have a Bose L1 V2 and have just started hearing a popping or knocking sound through the speaker on some songs being played through it? Has anyone ever experienced this? We have a tonematch and recently the USB port has had some trouble playing music, it plays music from a laptop but after 90 seconds the music cuts out and the speaker omits a loud horn type noise. Since this we use a sound card with jack plugs instead of using direct usb from the laptop. any help would be greatly...Read More...

Running signal from pre amp out on T1 Tonematch to RC300

I’m running an RC 300 looper with a separate second microphone to loop vocals that connects directly from mic to looper. Everything runs to my T1 Tonematch. My T1 is the original model. I’m looking to minimize cable and gear and was wondering if I can simply run a 1/4” to XLR M cable from from the Pre amp out on my mic channel #1 straight into my looper. In theory, I could then work with one mic for both vocals and looping. Effects are not that important when looping. I’ve programmed my FX...Read More...
Thank you so much for that. I’ll give it a try. Hoping it’s not too hot that I can’t turn down the volume on the mic on the RC300 and get something useable. If not, I have a radial ABo up in Canada I can try. At least, now I know what cables “should” work. I mount my T1 on my mic stand so all cables are custom shorties so minimal cable lengths save me a lot of weight. Many thanks, DavidRead More...

Hi Brasscity, Having never been inside a B1 I can't say for sure, but: The B1 module is an 8 ohm speaker. That suggests there are two 4 ohm speakers wired in series . If a second B1 is connected to the first, that would be a parallel connection resulting in a 4 ohm load to the power base. The B1 uses a four wire connector and has a resistor installed in the cabinet for the separate pair of wires that communicate with the power stand to let it know how many B1s are attached and the eq curve...Read More...
