Mixer to L1 Compact T8S vs Touchmix8

I am planing to buy a mixer for my L1 Compact. Mostly is will used for small live performances. The most common devices are Yamaha digital piano(only has headphone out to connect) Yamaha acoustic guitar, Violin with AKG pickup, Roland TDK11-v electronic drums (again head phone out) and vocal 4 to 5 mics. Wireless Sure and AKG. I am not a pro when it comes to mixing and do not know the basics of audio mixing and EQ gates stuff. Therefore, I would mainly rely on the presets and then adjust...Read More...
I don't have the L1M2 any more. I'm down to my JBL EON One, 2 Behringer Subwoofers and 2 Bose S1 Pros. When I last had it set up I ran one channel of the QSC Touchmix to the Bose using a balanced XLR to TRS 1/4" cable. There's no reason (unless you're segregating the voices and instruments -- left and right) to use 2 channels from the Touchmix (or any external mixer) into a monophonic L1M2. When I used the T1, I'd go from Touchmix to channel 1 using XLR to XLR.Read More...

Outputting to a external amp-> passive speakers

Hello All, Newbie here tasked with a challenge. A local restaurant has an amp powering passive speakers to play Pandora for background music. When they have live music they turn this off and the musicians play thru a Bose L1 Compact. They would like to pipe the live music thru the passive speakers during the performance and switch back to Pandora thru passive speakers during breaks and when they do not have performances. Do I need a Switch Box and what kind of cables. Can someone kindly...Read More...
Jeff, You are indeed quite right regarding resistor value and no significant loss of gain. I will confess I'm not a professional electronics engineer although I did start out working in the professional audio equipment business, but that was a lifetime ago in the early to late 70's (yep... showing my age now!). Nowadays, in fact for a long long time, impedance matching no longer exists. Now the simple rule is low impedance drives into high impedance. I guess I was still thinking in terms of...Read More...

Mixing L1 and F1 speakers for live performance

Our 4 piece band has a theatre gig coming up max 350 but bleacher seating and a very high ceiling. We own an L1 model II with B2 bass that works for small club performances (drums/bass/guitar/keys/3vocals through a T8s TM mixer and love the fact we no longer need monitors!!! We feel we need a little more sound reinforcement for this hall. In our area only L1 model I's and F1's are available to rent. So here are my questions: 1) Will a rented L1 Model 1 with B2 bass with our own T8s/model...Read More...

Notching out feedback:

I’m having a problem with a high frequency feed back at gigs. I’m using a L1 model II with a T8S (love it!). I have the instructions for using the Para EQ to attempt to notch out the frequency but I obviously can’t do this at a gig with people present. I’ve tried cutting back Highs on each mike channel as well as on reverb but this hasn’t solved the problem. I’ve also tilted the mikes up (we have 3 EV 967 mikes). My question is this: is there a frequency range that is usually the culprit for...Read More...

Suggested Crossover point

I have a pair of B1s and the Bose small bass amp to run them. I want to use them with a pair of active speakers which are 150 watts rms full range, but are only 8” + horn. What would be a good crossover point to try? I am hoping to give a little more headroom for the vocals by sending the lower frequencies to the B1s thanksRead More...

Presets for Yamaha Electro Acoustics

I'm about to take delivery of a Yamaha AC5R Electro Acoustic Guitar. I'm a long time Yamaha player and L1 user and it has always frustrated me that we can't get T1 presets for the most recent Yamaha guitars. My other Yamaha acoustic is an APX20D. I've tried various Taylor and Martin presets but nothing quite hits the spot. Come on Bose, lets have some love for the Yamaha players out there!Read More...

S1 Pro - L1 Compact dilemma

Harry
I have been using a pair of S1 Pro’s at a regular gig for sometime now, really enjoying the portability, sound quality, and overall vibe of the speakers, what a great system! As I was prepping for Thursday's gig, I walked by my old faithful L1 Compacts sitting on the shelf, they actually spoke to me and said “Hey, how about taking us along this time? What are we? Chopped liver?” I smiled, and loaded them into the truck. At the gig I was reminded how great a speaker the Compact really is, the...Read More...
Thanks ST! Good info, I appreciate your comments, very helpful... I front end both systems with a T1 mixer and run them in mono, sometimes I use a single S1 Pro as a personal monitor, use its mixer, and feed the house system in larger venues. I use small subwoofers with both systems for DJ applications, when I'm performing with guitar + vocal no Subwoofers I regularly perform at a few very wide venues and will use two S1 Pros on tripod stands or two Compacts to cover. Either of the systems...Read More...

Hello Pradeep, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Thank you for your question. The Bose L1 systems are set up to accept the AC power provided in the country in which it is sold. Bose cannot confirm the suitability of products for converting the voltage and frequency to match L1 systems purchased from a different region. Cleaning after outdoor coastal gig

After moving to Florida, I've started gigging regularly and have found most of the gigs to be outdoors. Last night, I played about a mile from the beach, outdoors, but we had really strong winds coming in off the Atlantic. After the gig, everything was just sticky from the sea breeze. When I got home, I wiped every piece of equipment used (mics, cables, Bose, guitar, everything) down with Clorox wipes to get the salt off. I let everything dry off before putting it back in the cases. Since...Read More...

Compact with S1?

Hello! I’ve been a lurker for awhile and figured now is as good a time as any to ask a few questions. I am a solo acoustic guitar/singer. I <3 my Bose Compact. I use my TC Helicon Play Acoustic for every gig to get my sound the way I want it. Usually this works great as my venues are usually small and I play for no more than 50 people. My my issue comes when the weather breaks and suddenly I have to deal with outside gigs or the “garage doors” start to open. I find I don’t get enough...Read More...
Hi I use an L1 Compact and the S1 Pro with the Bose T4S Mixer for stereo, the great thing about combining the S1 with the L1 is their versatility to mix both or use S1 as monitor etc, plus if you have smaller gigs the S1 is superb for this. I’ve had this set up around two months managing to store scenes in the T4S for recall at recurring gigs. I’m still getting used to the equipments but so far it’s awesome, compliments on quality sound by audience and was even told my Classical Guitar was...Read More...

L1 Model II Power Stand Intermittent

Hi, new to the forum and Bose L1 Model II. I am experiencing a problem with the power stand. After sitting overnight or longer, when I first turn it on nothing happens except for the power light. FOH and monitor

Hello all! I'm in a "loud" 4 piece rock band consisting of Vocal, bass, guitar and drums. We have 2 L1 M2 with B2's. We are considering a 3rd. As it stands we are finding it challenging to the Bose loud enough vocally before feed back having both behind us. We are using Blue 100 and 200 mics along with Shure SM58. Our thoughts are using 2 bose for FOH ahead of the band and one Bose behind the drummer for monitor. FOH will have vocals, kick drum, drum overhead, guitar, slight bass and BGV for...Read More...

Presonus RM32AI recording/mixer to two L1 Model 1S

Hi, thanks for this. I have a Bose Model 1S (actually 2 of them as I borrow a friends unit when playing a gig). I use mine in my studio but the 2nd I have access to for playing out. I have a Presonus RM32AI recording/mixer solution that I currently use for the mixer (all on the computer/laptop/ipad). Hi Rowan, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community and thanks for the interesting questions. Thanks for all the great information and the link. When running two L1 Model 1S systems, I would use the Main Outputs (left/right) in case the room is asymmetrical you need to manage the volumes separately, or you want to pan any of the inputs to one side or the other. Will the L1 systems be at least 20 feet (6.3 meters) apart? If so then you can pan everything up the middle. If not, then I would...Read More...

B2 - should I install castors (wheels)?

Hi guys Just a thought, would it be ethical to install castors on the backside of my B2? Has anybody actually done this? I'm not entirely sure I want to be drilling and screwing into a £500 quid cab but I was wondering if it has ever been done before. There is a company here in the UK which builds flight cases for all the Bose gear but the B2 case retails at the same price as the cab itself and then there is the extra size to consider, a B2 in a flight case is a heck of a lump! Just curious...Read More...
In my opinion it’s not an issue of ethics at all, just preference. I would agree with the above comments, a good gig cart, hand truck, or moving dolly would be my preference. Drilling into a B2 cabinet and screwing in lag bolts could cause problems down the road, loosening, wood splitting, and causing general damage to the speaker box. Back bolting with nuts and washers would be better but that would require somehow disassembling the speaker to gain access. Also, good casters are fairly...Read More...

Tone match power supplies (2) a question of tidiness :-)

Hi ive recently invested in the TS8, I use it in conjunction with the T1 - the T1 plays backing tracks through channel 4/5 while the TS8’s channel 8 controls the overall volume i still haven’t got my head around how to have the Tone match power supplies (x2) looking tidy at gigs and find them a little cumbersome- with all due respect short of having a custom case built to house both units and the tone match supplies I haven’t yet thought of a way to have these units ( the supplies) looking...Read More...

T-1 Phantom Power

Hello. We are running an L1 M2 w/B2 and T-1. We run two vocal mics through Channels 1 and 2, and an Acoustic Guitar through Channel 4. We have used Channel 3 as our "guest channel" for either guitar or vocal mic, adjusting the channel settings on the fly, as needed. Our main vocal mics are Shure Beta 87A's and require Phantom Power.
