Composite Acoustics Legacy Presets

Hi All, I'm loving my Bose L1 MII with Tone Match! I just bought at Composite Acoustics Legacy with the Fishman Prefix-T pick up system in it. I'm really pleased to find there are Composite Acoustics Presets available, 2 of which are for the Legacy specifically. Which to use? Legacy Saddle Only - Legacy, 50/50 pickup blend Legacy Saddle/Mic - Legacy, pickup only Does anyone know what the differences are on these presets? Are there recommended settings on the Fishman for each of these?Read More...

Using L1 from amp line-out

Hi I sometimes use my L1 compact just to reinforce the sound from another amplifier. I have a two-channel Henriksen Bud. I put guitar in one channel, vocal in the other, then run a line out into the L1. I get a much better result plugging the line-out into Channel 1 on the L1. Channel 2 gets a much lower response and hums (and has no tone control). However, the manual says channel 1 must only be used for a mic. Why is this? I'm happy with the result I'm getting. I don't use the L1 at high...Read More...

Connecting L1 Model 2 to external mixer

Hi - I hope you can help. I connected my Bose L1 Model 2 to a Mackie CFX 12 mixing desk last night as I needed 5 vocal mics and keys to go through the mixer. I used a cable I had made up which is a XLR left and right main outputs from the mixer to the 1/4 inch jack on the power stand. I have done this before many times and it has all worked great but last night the vocal and keyboard cut out for a few seconds. This kept happening all through our first set every few minutes. It only cut out...Read More...

Can I use my Behringer Europro 800 watt powered mixer with my L1 Compact

I just received my L1 and am really eager to use it. But I heard that I cannot use my powered mixer with this due to the fact that it is a powered speaker. I saw on this forum that someone is able to use their powered mixer with theirs. Is there any way I can use these together, and how do I set it up? Thanks!Read More...

L1 as a Bass Rig

Hi ...again. Am new to the Bose community but am so thrillled with my new S1pro that I guess you can say I am sipping the cool aid. I am a bass player..professionally (*yes, I actually do make a living doing this!). I am looking to replace my "big rig" (Bag End Cabs, Hafler or Crest or pwr amps) with something newer and more portable (its at the point now I am all about small easy to move stuff...) and am considering a L1 system. So, I would be interested in hearing any comment s and...Read More...
I am an electric bass player and I have used my L1 Model II as a dedicated bass amp and I liked it. I use a B2 Bass Module with switch set to the "Normal" position. I find it very important to use the ToneMatch presets for Bass. I recommend trying presets that may not be labeled for your specific brand or model - you may find one that you prefer over the named preset. I also use a little bit of light compression on the bass guitar channel to enhance the attack. FWIW, I have also used a Line...Read More...

Stage set up sketch

There used to be a site on the net somewhere where you could create a sketch of your stage set up (mics, amps, drums, pa, etc) and a Bose consultant would give you feedback and advice on using Bose PA gear. Is that site still active, and if so, where can I find it? Thanks...Read More...

How to use single L1 model2 for 3 vocals on a large stage

Hi all, We're a rock cover band with 3 vocals wanting to replace regular PA/monitors with a single L1 model2 with B2 and T1. This is a permanent stage approx 24' wide x 10' deep. The room is approx 24' wide and 60' long. We usually have gigs there of up to 100 people. You can view the stage sketch here We get feedback from vocal 1 and 2, and after much fiddling with EQ and Para EQ we don't seem to be hearing ourselves as well as we used to with the old PA, and not too sure about the overall...Read More...

L1 Model 11 + B2 feedback issues

Hi Folks Firstly, Happy New Year fellow Bose users. I did a fab gig last night in a village hall with around 160 people who kept the dance floor busy all night. I was using my L1 Model 2 with the B2 and had it set on stage with me about 8-feet back and to the side as shown in the picture below. The T1 was set as follows: Channel 1, mic, trim at 1 o'clock and volume at around 12 0'clock. Channel 2, guitar, trim at 3 o'clock and volume at 2 o'clock. Channel 4/5, trim at 12 o'clock and volume...Read More...
Hi Geoff, There is a ToneMatch Preset for the Neumann KMS 105. This will give you EQ settings that are optimized for using this microphone using Close Microphone Technique (lips barely brushing the windscreen). Yes, you will still need to do the gain staging (set the trim) as shown in the video below. Note: Close Microphone Technique is a key factor in getting maximum gain-before-feedback. Depending on the timbre of your voice, you may need to take a little off the low end with the zEQ . I...Read More...

Combining L1 with FOH support

I Play in a band which uses backing tracks and an L1s. We are a 3 piece , and have an accoustic dummer, electric guitar, and 2 singers. I'm looking at expanding the system to cover bigger rooms if needed. Can someone give me ideas for an upgrade. I'm thinking the optimum would be to add a full F1 system for FOH, or alternatively 2 x F1 812 speakers for extra girth. Would these speakers all match well in a live setting ? Or is there a better solution?Read More...
Just reporting back. I bought 2x F1 812 tops, will see how they go with the L1s and B2.Read More...

Replacing an old L1 Model 1

I have 3 L1 Model 1 systems, each with a B1. I run three musicians (bass/vocal; guitar/vocal; keys/vocal), each to his own system. The drums are routed to all 3 systems. Here is the problem: one of the units crashed. Bose says they cannot repair and have offered to replace it, either with a Model 1S or with a Model II. My question: which of those choices will best match up with the remaining 2 older systems? Any suggestions? Also, how practical is it to try to find a 3rd party who will...Read More...

Power on but no sound from L1 Classic

Hello, I have 3 L1 Classics that have been trouble free since 2003. One of them however has decided to go quiet on me. Is one system suitable for DJing in a small pub?

Hi everyone, I am a mobile DJ, doing small gigs in pubs and clubs and I have just ordered the L1 Model II & B1 Bass Module. My question, or questions rather, are:- 1) Is one system suitable for this? 2) If I connect my mixer to the panel with a 2xphono to stereo jack cable, will the sound still be good stereo quality? Thanks in advance for your help.Read More...
Since you are DJ'ing, I'd highly recommend getting a B2 to replace the B1. It turns the LIMII into a very competent DJ system while still having the flexibility to handle other needs easily. When you want the bottom end to be strong the B2 can deliver! You have a three position switch on the B2 to determine the correct bass level for the event/job.Read More...

Firmware updates with macBook Pro running Mojave 10.14.2

I have been so impressed with my pre-owned L1 m1 with 2 x B1s but I have found the powerbase a bit cumbersome in small venues where there is no stage or the stage is about the size of a postage stamp. As a consequence I tried out a 1s and liked it. I subsequently bought one. I now have a new 1s, a pre-owned B2 and B1, a new T1 and S1Pro. Whilst I am still getting to grips with the settings for various venues I haven't felt the need to update the firmware and will not attempt to do so until...Read More...

T1 Preset - How do I turn off DJ/Playback High Volume Music?

Hi there Can you advise please-I recently purchased a B2, and in short I had to undergo firmware updates to the L1 model 2 power stand for the B2 to work in all 3 positions-a Bose retailer did this for me. He also showed me how to increase the output by setting the Tonematch to DJ playback-'high'. Ever since this, and having tried changing this setting to 'Low' (very little difference) my backing tracks now seem to have too much bass, whether I am using the new B2 or my old B1's x 2. Brand New L1 Model 2 Quit

2 L1 Model 2's Brand new, first gig... ran about 10 minutes a very modest volume.. Suddenly the sound became very gritty and distorted and within a few seconds it simply quit.. The power light remained on however the incoming signal shows no signal. Flipped the the inputs at the board and to verify there is a signal present.. everything is good, connections are correct. No sound.. Help please..Read More...
Hi Lee, Thank you for all the detailed information. That was helpful. The only thing that comes to mind - is the possibility you were running stereo signals into the L1 Model II analog inputs (that are balanced mono). That won't work. Your older L1 units had unbalanced mono inputs - and those tolerate a stereo input better. But the difference in wiring doesn't account for all your troubles. At this point it's best if you call Bose Support on Monday. They will help you. Bose® Product &...Read More...

Volume Decay Case Solved!

Hoping that revealing my ignorance might help someone else someday. I have a new L1, B1, T8S. I noticed that I was getting seemingly random volume loss in Channel 3 (acoustic guitar). I couldn’t figure out whether I had a Bose issue or a guitar issue. Turns out it was a “me” issue. Apparently, I was occasionally (and unintentionally) powering up my system components in the wrong order. The set up: My guitar plugs directly into a vocal harmonizer (for key detection), which then sends the...Read More...
Hi Tom, Thanks for sharing this. It's this sort of input which can really be helpful to many who are trying to find their feet in this field. Powering up: Source to Output Powering off: Reverse order Output to Source. This way you avoid the switching on/off signal surges which can cause the "thumps" from the loudspeakers which many of us have heard at some time or other. TonyRead More...
