Hi ScubaBadger, I understand why the stereo backing tracks would sound better with two L1s run in stereo. Do you notice a difference (two L1s) with the mic channel centered compared to a single L1? Do you have anything else running through the system or just backing tracks and vocal microphone? You would probably find the drop-off in volume over distance would greater if you the drivers were run in alternating directions. Basically, the volume would drop-off faster. STRead More...

ATTN L1 Compact Users

Hi All, We know there a lot of L1 Compact users on the forum and we wanted to get a better understanding of the effects and processing that you use with the system. For example, Are you using the T1 or just the L1 Compact by itself? Please reply to this post with a description of your rig. Hi Tom, Just an afterthought. In the Compact Owner's Guide there is a reference to using the extensions on page 5. As this has caused discussions and uncertainty in the past I'll mention it here. "Note: The two L1® Compact Extensions are identical to each other. Either one can be used on the top or bottom, but if one extension is used, both must be used". There is no need to use both extensions. You can use 1, 2 or none to satisfy your particular needs in different situations. Hope that...Read More...

Paul Schaefer's L1 Set Up

Today I had the privilege of visiting the David Letterman set and learning more about how Paul Schaefer is using the L1 Classic that you have seen beside him for years. The system is fed by a sub-mix of all of Paul’s keys and synths enabling him to hear himself clearly on stage. The band also has an in-ear monitor mix which enables them to talk among themselves and listen to songs as David Letterman is interviewing guests. There is also a printer attached to the laptop so they can print...Read More...

Creative L1 Compact Uses

Ok so it has been over a year since the release of the L1® Compact system and we continue to hear stories about the product being used from everything from military services to fitness classes. L1 Benefits Statement

Ken-at-Bose
Hello Everyone, We wrote this before we introduced our new approach to live music amplification. These words appear on many of the cartons in the L1 family of products. We thought it would be good to repeat these words here.Read More...
This is an example of some of the old "Gems" which are turning up since the introduction of the new forum software. The words are as true now as they were then. Here's an example. My wife had a birthday party in January and I set up the Compact+T1 so that I could play easily for our guests and be heard anywhere in our living room which is L-shaped and about 50m2. Due to illnesses and bad weather forecast (snow) the party wasn't too big an affair and I could have played without amplification.Read More...

What cable to connect mixer to two Bose L1 Model 1's.

I'm planning to go from the Left Main XLR out to the 1/4 input 3 on one of the Bose L1 M1's. And the Right Main XLR to the other Bose L1M1 input 3. The distance of each cable will be about 25'. Removing the plastic base of L1 Compact

Hi, Duke. Please do not remove the plastic foot (base) of the L1 Compact. The plastic foot secures the grilles and the connector plate for the speaker array/extensions. The grilles could rattle and you will make the connection to the speaker array exposed and vulnerable to physical damage. Please note; removing the base will void the warranty. STRead More...

Recommend a power supply that they have used successfully with the L1 Compact?

I would like to use my L1 Compact in outdoor venues where 120VAC is not available. I would like to use a "power pack" consisting of a battery and inverter. I know there are a variety of inverter circuits which can produce anything from a square wave to a pretty accurate sine wave. I wondered whether the converter in the L1 Compact cares about the quality of the input AC sine wave, so I posted this question in the Bose section here. The official answer is that only a pure sine wave is...Read More...

Damaged Connector

I recently purchased a used L1 Model II system, and am noticing that the sound sometimes cuts out on the upper tower. When I looked closely, it appears that the white connector jack at the top of the lower tower is chipped, which I think is causing the issue. If I push the upper tower forward, I get sound, but if it tips back, the sound cuts out. I have attached a photo of the damaged connector for reference. Is this a part that can be easily replaced? Does anyone have any suggestions for...Read More...
From the picture, it looks like that connector is only going to get worse, not better... I've seen cases where these connectors get deformed and lose connection and cause those that they're plugged into to get deformed as well. It's an "easy" fix for anyone skilled with a soldering iron...if you can get the part and get to the place where the defective one is sitting.Read More...

Wireless Mic Experiences with L1M2

CityFolk
Anyone out there have any experience with this wireless mic adapter (or something similar)? It’s intriguing because you can plug in a transmitter into your existing dynamic mic and its receiver into your mixer. I don’t have any special long distance requirements, just tired of wrangling with cables. I’d never be more than 10 feet away from the L1, however, I still want quality sound from our Shure 58A Beta mics. Not sure if something like this would adversely “color” the sound.Read More...
Hi, troubador. The wireless guitar system transmitters from Boss and Line 6 go into sleep mode if no signal is detected for a pre-determined time. The exception is the Boss Katana Air transmitter that senses vibration. If you plug that transmitter into the final output of a pedalboard you probably have to kick the pedalboard frequently, so the transmitter doesn't go to sleep. These aren't for microphones but they demonstrate it's possible to have an power-saving mode. This would be useful...Read More...

L1M2/B2 Feedback issues

Hi Guys I did a gig today in a very lively pub using my L1M2/B2 system and T1 Tonematch. I set the column behind and to the side of me (there was about ten-feet between mic and speaker) a set-up I've used often without issue. Today was a different story, the crowd were very lively and the more I got them rocking the livelier they became hence I was driving the system quite hard with the result that I kept getting feedback. TC Helicon G XT Harmonizer

Hi John E1, Thanks for joining the conversation. The issue isn't signal level or impedance (things that can be addressed with a DI with an attenuation pad). We don't need a DI or an attenuation pad to address the problem. The TC Helicon units (most of them) have either an input gain and/or an output level adjustment. The ToneMatch mixers have input trim controls. I've used lots of different TC Helicon devices into various Bose systems and I've never needed a DI or pad. The issue is having...Read More...

Use 2 L1 model 2 as Mains w/ QSC Touchmix 16

I currently own one L1 m2 system with a T1 Tonematch, and was contemplating replacing my band's current PA setup. Reverb for vocal

Hi Guys I am just throwing this out there to see what others are using to apply a touch of reverb to their vocals when using the L1 Compact without the Tonematch. Reason I ask is because I use my S1 Pro for small functions such as care homes and coffee lounges and I kind of like that it's got built in effects. T8S And L1mk2 volume.

This is my second post and thank you for your prompt reply to my first. I am using a Bose L1 mk. 2 and a T8S Tonematch. This has worked well up to last weekend’s gig. L1 Model II - bass line out jack

Hey folks - I have 2@ Model II, but have an event coming up where I need additional coverage. It's a large room and a bit more "oompf" would help in the corners of the room.
