Paul Schaefer's L1 Set Up

Today I had the privilege of visiting the David Letterman set and learning more about how Paul Schaefer is using the L1 Classic that you have seen beside him for years. The system is fed by a sub-mix of all of Paul’s keys and synths enabling him to hear himself clearly on stage. The band also has an in-ear monitor mix which enables them to talk among themselves and listen to songs as David Letterman is interviewing guests. There is also a printer attached to the laptop so they can print...Read More...

L1 Benefits Statement

This is an example of some of the old "Gems" which are turning up since the introduction of the new forum software. The words are as true now as they were then. Here's an example. My wife had a birthday party in January and I set up the Compact+T1 so that I could play easily for our guests and be heard anywhere in our living room which is L-shaped and about 50m2. Due to illnesses and bad weather forecast (snow) the party wasn't too big an affair and I could have played without amplification.Read More...

Problem increasing volume on channel 2 of L1 compact

Hi all This is my first post so I hope you can help. I’m a violinists playing through my own L1 compact in a band whilst the singer/guitarist plays through his own L1 compact. He manages to be louder than my instrument and I’m wondering why. I usually have channel 2 set at about 1 O’clock and that’s more than adequate. Over the weekend we played a larger venue and I attempted to turn the volume to about 3 O’clock and the peak indicator came on and the sound distorted. So assuming my input...Read More...
I use a small 4 channel mixer vocal in 1 instrument in two and three if in stereo. I set the bose unit to the max balance mix without audible distortion. feed that into the channels mentioned and raise the volume of the master that has worked well for me. Then to the front of house speakers. One way to reach to large venues. I am not clear if your instrument is overpowering all else or the guitarist? Or the vocals are being overwhelmed by all else. Usually the vocals are overshadowed that is...Read More...

Wireless Mic Experiences with L1M2

CityFolk
Anyone out there have any experience with this wireless mic adapter (or something similar)? It’s intriguing because you can plug in a transmitter into your existing dynamic mic and its receiver into your mixer. I don’t have any special long distance requirements, just tired of wrangling with cables. I’d never be more than 10 feet away from the L1, however, I still want quality sound from our Shure 58A Beta mics. Not sure if something like this would adversely “color” the sound.Read More...

Using Multiple L1 1S Systems With A Mackie Profx8v2

Connecting XAir mixer to Bose L1 Classic

Hello all, I'm trying to find a definitive answer to which cable type I need to run between my XAir mixer and my Bose L1 Classic system. There seem to be people who say XLR to TRS 1/4" (balanced) is the right way, others say XLR to XLR is fine too. I want the best way to connect. If it's TRS 1/4", is a "balanced" plug and a "stereo" plug the same? I'm not seeing any labels on 1/4" TRS cables that say "balanced" on them. Are all XLR to TRS cables balanced? Hi Rick, (rlhiggins), You're not leaving any horsepower on the table. The amps are not assigned to channels 1 and 2. The amps on the Classic are assigned to: Upper section of the Cylindrical Radiator® Lower section of the Cylindrical Radiator® Bass subsystem The reason I suggested connecting to two L1 channels was to eliminate any anxiety about whether or not you were getting the full benefit of any stereo effects. Right. You're not missing anything you would hear. Given you've had years of...Read More...

Bose Compact Elevated?

Harry
Hello! I have had a few "standing on the floor at audience level" church gigs lately (Just my acoustic guitar and vocal). I decided to try to elevate my Bose Compact to get up over people’s heads when they are standing (See pic). It's typical for people to stand at church when they are singing along with me. Not a great deal, I've seen the same package for as low as $$$$$ in Craigslist... the difference... you can test the equipment if it is a local purchase. The L1 II has a different sound than the L1 Compact, which is a tighter sound in my opinion... ideal for guitar...!! However, it should sound really good regardless...!! compare both side by side using different instrumens/mics and crank up the volume on both systems... look for niceable differences. Did it come with the T1 mixer...?? Best.Read More...
