Used 4 towers & 8 subs today

I DJ'ed an outdoor college spring fling dance today (450 students) and I am now so sold on this Bose system that I can't put it into words! 4 towers and 8 subs is simply a wall of sound. I went out 400 feet and this system was still still rockin the house! I was at 80 % volume and was hitting 117db's. MikeRead More...
the only thing I can think is that since the subs are not that far apart, the comb filtering is not nearly as severe. Maybe at 15-50 feet it would be worse, but this appears to be 10-12.Read More...

BOSE L1 Compact Wireless Setup

I was wondering what other would think about a wireless setup using Anchor Audio's ALB-40. I was planning on the transmitter coming out of the zone/booth output of my mixer (Denon X500). the recievers are belt packs. The system comes with 4 of them so that is more than I need for to L1C's. What I want to know do you think it will work with this type of trnasmitter and recievers? I understand I would need to be no more than 200 feet line of site. Anchor generally makes really good products,...Read More...

L1 with 2x B1's EQ question.

ajdj
Hey Bose people! I DJ with 2x L1's and 4X B1's (2x B1's with each L1 speaker. a stereo set up obviously) Anyway. I have been playing back and forth with preset 58 and 00 ...... the system is louder in general on 00 then it is with 58 but obviously 58 cranks up the bass which I like but on 00 I don't have to turn up the system as much to get to what I feel is good level for a rocking party BUT the bass output is a little weak so what I've been doing is when on 00 I'm just cranking the bass on...Read More...
Hi AJDJ, Sorry, I didn't notice that you had replied. Thanks for sharing your impressions of the B2s. I agree that the B1s will sound more musical than the B2s when connected to an L1® Model I or Classic. But for low end grunt, they do a great job. Enjoy! STRead More...

Fault Light Comes on and Music cuts out

I typically run two Model II's with 2 B2 base units, but yesterday I had a small corporate gig and decided to just use one. Set up was unevenly as always, until the music started playing. I noticed the sound suddenly cutting out, thinking it was a power issue, I changed plugs and outlet, then as it continued, I noticed that I wasn't losing power, but that the red Fault light kept coming on (not to be confused with the analog clipping light, as the system was not under load. As time went on...Read More...
Hi MagicDJ, Thank you for joining the Forum. Hey, I'm really sorry that no one has gotten back to you. It sounds like the Power Stand that was failing needs to go in for repair. I really doubt that the B2 or the cable had anything to do with this. A call to Bose support is the next step. Has the input sensitivity changed on the newer compacts?

NAW-T-BOY
I have 2 compacts which I've had for a few years now and I recently bought 2 more and noticed If I have the old onestunred to 12 o clock I get a full signal that is just barely clipping but if i take that same signal and plug it in to the new ones I need to turn it up to 2 o'clock to get the same level. I know theres a switch for guitar and line...i have them all set to line. Just wondering if this is something that changed in the newer models?Read More...

Bose F1, should I buy?

jotastroeter
Hello all, I worked with Bose L1 for 5 years, playing electronic music in events, I had L1 Compacts, Model II, 8 B1 and 2 B2, packlites.l, I know this systems very well. I sold all my system and move to Miami, now I'm planning on buy a new system, I went to Guitar Center and listened to the F1 with sub and to M2 with B2. The F1 doesn't gave a great impression. Does someone here have the F1 and can talk about the hands on experience? Thank youRead More...

L1 Model II + B1 + F1

So I am about to purchase one F1 to replace the pair of B2s I use (one on each power stand). I did some more testing, although not with a B1 as GC didn't have any, but I started thinking about this... On most music, it's not a big deal, but the gap from 100-200 can feel thin, mostly on older music since there is almost nothing going on there when NOT using a B1 or B2 and using one F1 that is internally crossed at 100 with a slight slope. What if I was to use ONE B1 on each power stand to...Read More...

yorkville versus l1 m1

I own a pair of yorkville ls720 and Nx55 speakers. I am looking at replacing them with a pair of L1 M1 with 4 B1 bass units. Do you think this will equil and or surpass the yorkville set up I have right now. Taking into account i am asking a Bose rep. to give me an unbiased answer.Read More...
In my humble opinion, I would not buy a used L1M1, no matter how many B1's it has. The L1 series isn't serviced anymore, so if I were you, I'd consider the L1 M2, or even the newest Bose system they just came out with. For me, I'm very careful when choosing equipment. I always buy brand new, knowing I'm protected by a warranty for a period of time. I'd rather spend a few more dollars on the front end, than having to worry about problems on the back end. But, that's only my humble opinion.Read More...

Playing an instrument with recordings

I promote some ballroom dancing for seniors with recordings. Here and there, with my trumpet, I find a section of a recording where I can play at least part of a chorus. This keeps me in there in that I long ago got out of the band business. Just wanted to mention this in case it might give you some ideas. Maybe we could even share some tune selections I prefer standards. A couple that lay well for me is a section of DR John's "I'm Confessin' that I Love You" and a section in Rosemary...Read More...

What could cause audio drop? L1 MII/B2 with T1

Nick from New Zealand
Hi all, First time out with the Model II a few weeks back, I had a number of audio outages - just a few seconds at a time. It cuts clean, comes back on clean - no pops or thumps. Problem is when it happens, I've never been fast enough to see what the T1 or power stand lights are doing. First time it happened, it was a few times in one night. I blamed the digital cable from the T1 to powerstand. But tonight, it happened again - just once, but it's a new cable. It's a brand new Bose system,...Read More...
ya, the T1 is not the issue. I would recommend running the T1 with hard power and using a custom cable 1/4 TRS to split (dual) 1/4 TRS to each of the L1s. Thais what I do. I will say that from previous experience, the L1 does not do well with low voltage, regardless of what people say or the specs say. Low voltage can be bad power from a venue or using low gauge extension cables or too long of runs. I hope this helps. I had a similar issues a coupe years back and even once this year. All of...Read More...

I have a L1 model 1s system without tone match that I'm trying to setup to play music from my 2009 Macbook through a small mixer that has mono capabilities but the input to and from the mixer is only RCA. Set up issue with T1 and wireless remote

Lately, I have had a run of weddings where I have needed wireless remote speakers. I am running the following setup for weddings: 1 T1 ToneMatch 2 L1 M2 with B2 2 L1 M1s with B1 1 Denon DN-MC6000 1 Behringer mixer 1 Alto Stealth Wireless system T1 Inputs = Ch 4/5 from the DN-MC6000, Ch 1 from a Sennheiser wired mic, and Ch 3 from a Shure wireless mic I run 1 M2 via the ToneMatch cable, and the second M2 from the Master output on the T1 via 1/4" to 1/4". I run the small Behringer mixer from...Read More...

This should be interesting.... I decided it was just too risky relying on reasonably new but obsolete Classics. Nothing wrong with them but if they died, repairs were tricky as there are no longer officially parts arts available. So I forked out $9k on a pair of new Model IIs with B2 subs. I was a little disappointed that the power stands were from different manufacture batches, so the plastic finish on the housings are totally different. Looks fine in the dark, but when you pay top $$ for a...Read More...
Hi ST, I reckon the right people at Bose in my part of the world have seen this already, but feel free to "elevate" it anywhere you like. There was more to the story, and there's a lot more history but there's no need to go into it all. My intention was really just to ensure the right people down here got recognition, and I don't think there's anything Bose can or will do to alleviate my earlier challenges. I haven't seen the new bag, I didn't know anything about it until SoundWave told me...Read More...

L1's suffered again with bad power

So hopefully my story helps others here as this is the 3rd time I have experienced a power issue in the last two years, but this time was even more weird. We hooked into a circuit that the lighting said was 3/4 empty on a 20amp circuit. I asked him how much was left, and told me, at least 10 since he split the lights in to two circuits. We plugged in, and as soon as I got some decent volume, it almost sounded like speakers were blown. Like nasty pop noises from the sub, then one of them L1s...Read More...

New L1 Derivative

We run a DJ show in the UK and in speaking to some of our exhibitors they've been mentioning a "new" Bose system based on the L1 focussed squarely at DJ's. They're all very hush hush about it, and as an L1 owner I'm curious about what it could be. Bose people, can you give us a clue?Read More...

Virtual DJ or DJAY with Macbook Pro - Can hear both master and pre-cue on headphones

I have a strange issue. I have an old Macbook which I use my T1 (via USB) and Headphone jack for Headphone pre-cuing and it works great. On the newer Macbook pro, apparently, on the headphones, I hear both the master and the headphone songs (when using Virual DJ or DJAY). Looking at the sound setup the output is selected to Bose USB. If I change that to Headphones, only music is heard on the headphones. There's is aggregate audio as well, but that again has both master and pre-cuing tracks...Read More...

Combo Power & Audio Cables

Hello, I am looking at reducing my setup time and just making everything neater with the L1s. Can someone recommend a combo power and signal cable? I have been looking and everything I find had very mixed reviews. I have been going back and fourth on the cables I use, with both XLR, and 1/4 inch, but reading on here it sounds like the 1/4 is the proper input cable for DJ use. So I guess the ultimate cable setup would have a set of both 90 degree IEC and 1/4" cable ends. i am looking at...Read More...

I've read ST's stereo explanation on the wiki , but I can't figure this part out. Two L1 units. T1 Stereo DJ mixer. Can I run the mixer LEFT channel into 4/5 on the T1, and mixer RIGHT channel into Ch 3, and program Ch 3 to output to the T1's AUX output. Then run the digital Ethernet cable from T1 to the first L1, and run AUX (from Ch 3) to the 2nd L1? Difficult to explain, but I basically want to run two L1 Modell IIs in stereo through a T1 and use a powerstand to power the T1 mixer.Read More...
