Power Conclusion (L1 dies)?!

So I will say right off that I will use my "Kill A Watt Meter" next weekend to conclude how many amps I am pushing at full volume with the way I run my system. Anyhow, this is not the first time posting or discussing this topic, but I would say it's safe to assume I have reached a conclusion. Read on... I don't claim to be an electrician, but I know what I see, and I am actually scheduled to consult with an engineer and electrician about some power stuff, just so I can get a better idea of...Read More...
Oh, belive me, it is in my contract in BOLD. There is nothing you can do though when you find out on the day of even if you have been told by the venue, "the power is fine." It's in my contract so they cannot blame me, and generally it very obvious it's the power and not my equipment, well at least I make it Still embarrassing, and now I will use that Kilowatt device before every gig, no ifs or butts.Read More...

T1 (mic/line level)

I bought a DBX AFS2 which works on live level (I have my mic receiver (set to line level) into the AFS, and then the output of the AFS into the T1 (XLR channel 1). The preferred way is to use inserts but the T1 does not have insert. After speaking with DBX, my method is just as good. I only want the AFS on the mic itself (nothing else). Anyhow, even without much gain, It sound completely distorted coming through the T1. Is this because when inserting a XLR into the T1, it uses Mic Level? If...Read More...
Adapter worked (now running line level) from the AFS as opposed to when the XLR is hooked up-- the T1 would then run on MIC level, so as BOSE said, the T1 switches between mic and line level depending on which connector you uses in the combo jack. Just hooking up the adapter make a HUGE difference in gain.Read More...

T1 Output(s) for Multiple Room Setup

For an upcoming event, I need to "deliver" audio into four separate spaces inside what I can only term a mansion (a very large, 100-year-old antebellum home). I am hopeful that I can utilize three(3) Line6 XD-V75 receivers/body pack transmitters to accomplish this. I have used one of these many times in the past to send audio into a second "zone". I have always used the Master Output for this and it has worked flawlessly. My problem now is that I am not certain how to output to two "more"...Read More...
Good stuff! The ability to turn down individual sources at the T1 to multiple rooms is awesome. One in a while, one of the rooms or areas needs further volume control so I just raise the gain on the QLXD for that receiver (room/speaker/area) I moved to the QLXD and it was the best investment, well besides the BOSE stuff I don't even know what dropouts are, and the range is just insane. I too, offer a premium service compared to the average DJ, and am more expensive, so using QLXD made sense...Read More...

The Old Gang?

"Not a soul down on the corner, that's a very certain sign...." Just curious as to what happened to our old gang on this forum. Best Setting for My Voice Blending?

I have L1, M2 with T1. I am trying to get the best voice match using karaoke and backing tracks with this. Is the High Volume Music setting the beat for my voice matching or should something else be used? I have my EV 767a dialed-in on the T1.Read More...

Ipad and iphone corrupting when plugged into Tonematch

Hello I'm new here.I've used a tonematch with my L1 Model 2 and also with my JBLs for about 18 months but for some reason I now have a glitch when using my ipad (2 or mini) or iphone plugged in and sending backing tracks via the headphone jack into channel 4/5. Has anyone else had this problem? It has started out of nowhere. The touchscreen interface completely messes up ie, you press something on the screen and it does something different. It freezes and/or responds as if you've pressed...Read More...
Hi Rebecca, Thank you for joining the Forum. I'm sorry to hear about the problem with the T1®. Just to make sure were talking about the same thing, you referred to "The touchscreen interface..." The T1® doesn't have a touchscreen. If you are talking about the touchscreen on your Apple devices, I'm not sure what to suggest. I've not heard of this issue, and it seems really odd that simply connecting the headphone output jack to the T1® would do this. If you are talking about the visual...Read More...

DJ Mixer into One Tonematch T1

Hello. I'm just posting to make sure that this configuration would be correct. If I wanted to connect a DJ Mixer (Pioneer DJM-800) or a controller into one Bose Tomematch T1, would the correct configuration be taking the Left and Right Master outputs from the DJ Mixer and connecting them to both 4/5 inputs on the Tonematch? What I am trying to accomplish is connecting my DJ Mixer and wireless microphone into one Tonematch and L1/M2 on separate channels, then using the Aux Output to connect...Read More...
Hi Jim, It's best to use balanced connections where possible. This means that you'll want to use XLR to ¼ inch jack Tip-Ring-Sleeve cables from the DJ mixer to the T1®. You'll also want to use a ¼ inch jack Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable from the T1® to the Model II Power Stand Analog Input. STRead More...

Bose L1 Model 1S units with B2s...Wedding and Live Sound!!!

I've been using the BOSE units for over a decade now. I've ran my course with the L1 Model 1s (Classic and Discontinued), finally upgraded to the Model IIs. My first purchase was with a Model 1 with 2 B1s. It was awesome, did all I needed and more for my small band and DJ needs. Then I needed a more portable system for weddings! Now, I bought 2 L1 Compacts....in certain locations I will use both as my ceremony system as the the long narrow ceremony venue warrant it. NOW, I'VE used the...Read More...

Back to BOSE 101

Last night,my laptop or player got a bug and gave garbled sound. I went to my resrve computer and was going to use an external drive through it for dancing, but it wouldn't give a signal to the L1 but rather would only play from its internal speakers. Does it take a disk to make this computer compatible with the L1? I can't remember. My CD player saved the night.Read More...

B1 or F1 ? Latin music for 200 dancing people

Hello, I ask for your advice . I would like to know what will be the best configuration for my needs. Here is my requierement. Latin music for dancing people. crowned from 50 to 200 people. Size of the ballroom change each time but the bigger we have ever use is 400 square meter. What configuration ? based on L1 of F1 is the best ? Thanks in advance.Read More...
Hi Alpha, Thank you for joining the Forum. If your biggest room is 20 metres x 20 metres you could be fine with a Model II with a B2 bass module. But if you want really impressive bass then get two F1 Systems with F1 Subwoofers. If you prefer to run stereo, definitely get the F1 Systems. STRead More...

Almost ready to buy...

I’m considering the purchase of a Bose L1 Model 1S with B2 and ToneMatch. Just some thoughts/ideas I wanted to touch on... As we all know, no single solution will apply to every situation. As traveling entertainers, we encounter a lot of different scenarios. If I’m using the system for my solo gigs (guitar and vocals) I’m comfortable with just the Bose L1 system. But for weddings when I DJ and the speeches need to be heard on the complete opposite side of a venue that has me tucked in a...Read More...
I apologize if this is a double post - I thought I replied to this last night but do not see the response. At any rate, I can see the compact doing well with 100+ if the overall volume of the audience is low and the intentions are to pay attention to the performer. For this particular situation, it was around 80 folks that were loud and they were in a "clubbing" mood. They wanted things loud and "thumping". Had I known that ahead of time, I wouldn't have even attempted the compact. Most of...Read More...

Using input 3 vs 4/5

I was reading on here last week, and I am now shooting myself for not bookmarking the page, but I read that inputs 1-3 are staged/processed so that when you get close to clip, it limits the channels input. Something about when you are 3db from clip. So if you are yelling to a mic... Is that true? If so, I need to definitely need to run my DJ mixer into channel 4/5 and not 3. Channel 4/5 is for my headphone output on my laptop, which does not get used much, and when it does, it's not played...Read More...

Problems last night?

Earlier this week I had my T1 going into a powered speaker from Master Out. I tested my mic and got the T1 settings that sounded good. With my L1, I normally use PC to USB, High Volume DJ Music. Last night, in using my full complement T1, L1- M2 and Laptop, strange things happened. First I had no effect from by turning my ZEQ knobs with USB 3 and 4. The Master Volume did work from USB with 3 and 4. This being the case, I had the same ZED all night. Also the volume was much too hot from the...Read More...

B1 coupled correctly

I just want to confirm I am adding the coupling effect correctly as I know we have touched on this before... I have 6B1s. If I lay all 6 B1s in a row, is it the same as 3 stacked on 3? And if yes to both, I get 9db gain as apposed to running 3 on each side of the L (separated)Read More...

I've just realised than my original and aging L1 Classics have been idle for nearly 12 months. The Model II and F1s do most of the work now. Is there any reason why these things would just die if not used or at least plugged in and powered up occasionally? They're stored in a dry environment, reasonably dust free with an even climate - we don't have sub zero freezes or Saraha heat here. Just curious.Read More...
Hi Nick, If you've got the units out anyway, I'd exercise the trim and level controls. STRead More...

DJ/Playback Low & High Volume Presets- Testing

I spent a lot time yesterday playing around with the presets as I arrived hours early before the gig started, and how the whole room (school gym) to myself I did a lot of testing, and among my testings were choosing the best preset, now that I am using B1s again. I had a person who is not a audio guy to help me out, which gave me a sense or reality and what the average person hears in loudspeakers. Here are my thoughts: The High Volume Preset sounds silky smooth and has a really nice rolloff...Read More...

1 + 2 Packlite is bassier ?

I wanted to make sure I got this right: If I hook up ONE (1) B1 to the BASS MODULE OUT on the L1 Power Stand, it is reference level. If I then hook up the Packlite using the BASS LINE OUT, I lose -6db in the bass, weather or not I use one or two B1s, hooked up to the Packlite. This would be the optimal way if I wanted a bass heavy signal since hooking up TWO B1's to the L1 Power stand'S BASS MODULE OUT loses -6db, then another 6-db when the Packlite is hooked up to the BASS LINE OUT. SO, 6DB...Read More...
According to that thread (our conversation), you said that the Input is not effected, it is the output of the bass drop, so it should not effect the input signal. With everything the same (even same cables), I guess one of the L1s trim was slightly higher causing it to clip earlier, although I looked to make sure during the gig, and it appeared to be the same, so that has be scratching my head.Read More...

Sound cutting out again

I just have really bad luck... I haven't had any problems since the repairs or replaced cables, but last night was a strange one. This was my first time grouping all six subs in one corner, so I had to use a 50ft NL4 Cable (thanks to audiopile cables) and I am hoping that was the problem. When I used the 50ft cable, and had it connected to one B1, it seemed to be fine, although, I believe I heard it cut out once within 2 hours. Read on... The problem occured when I connected one B1 to...Read More...
Ok, tested tonight... It is definitely the 50ft cable being too long. Thanks for all the input. Not sure what length is the maximum, but I sure don't want to be the "tester" to find out. People claim 20 is not a problem. So somewhere between 20-50, is no good b/c of the whole resistance thing. Last note I will add to this thread is that it doesn't cut out much with just one B1. It's when two are hooked up (daisy chained), it won't even for 10 seconds before cutting out. (50 ft to one B1,...Read More...

Best Funky Setting?

I know we have some fine equipment but the recordings I play through it are funked-up. My voice is shallow and my mic is an antique with a very pure projection. So, what settings do I need to equally funk-up my vocals, reverb, compression or what? I have a T1 and M2. Strangely, when I play my cornet acoustically with my equipment, it blends well. ThanksRead More...
I imagine that the cable will be of today's standard, so I can't imagine an issue. Seems silly that Shure would manufacture a replica of their original, but not make the connections regular XLR as we know it. Weight is no issue. You just need a stable and/or heavy base to your stand. You have to tip the stand WAAAAY over and then let go of it in order for the mic to hit the ground due to gravity. Yeah, it's not an issue.Read More...
