Need a Sketch? - Stage Layouts with The Sketcher

ST
If you would like some help planning your stage layout, or just share something you are doing that works, please try The Sketcher . How it works: You can see it in action: The Sketcher Movie or It is probably just as fast to try it . In its current incarnation, you drag items from the palette of instruments onto a stage area. You can add notes (a good idea) for things that don't fit into the picture. When you save your changes, I will take what you have done and turn it into a regular image...Read More...

Small gig in private house

Hi everyone, We have a jazz band and have gigs in private house, inside. What are the best settings for a small gig with Bose L1 system and T1 tonematch for 4 musicians. Guitar, Vocal singer, keyboard and bass. Can I mix all these instruments in the T1 and have a good sound or, should the bassist bring his own amp? Should the guitarist plug his guitar in his own amp too, and let the keyboard and female singer in the Bose system? If everybody can be mix in the tone match, what are the best...Read More...
Thank's O.. It is exactly what I think. It is the Compact, so I will use separate amps for bass and guitar but Female singer and the Keyboard in the ToneMatcht T1 with the Compact. Thank's JGRead More...

Cave Stage - Matt

ST
We've come to call these Cave stages. Suggestions: Move the L1®s forward. More of the sound will project into the room. Turn the L1®s inward. This will help for monitoring. Run the guitar amp at the lowest volume possible that still allows you to develop the tone. Put a microphone on the amp and let the amp be heard through the L1®s. This will allow the guitar to be heard throughout the room without excessive stage volume. STRead More...

Hi Levi Saint John That sounds so cool. Are you finding that one L1 isn't enough? Or just not amplifying all the guitarists? How are the guitarists positioned around the mic? Ideally they should be about 3 ft away from the mic in a circle/semi circle formation. 4ft if you need to cram more musicians per mic. Anyone further than that may not be heard/amplified. Something I do for large ensemble miking with the L1 is that I place the L1 on the opposite side of the section being miked. This way...Read More...

The Shure SM137 looks like it could be okay for this application, but you'd need to have it close to the guitar and be careful that it can't see the L1®.
