F1 812: MSA12X style array control, with optional CSD network connection. No need to include expensive Dante communication, but it would be nice to have software controllable coverage in permanent installations. F1 sub: wall mount bracket please! Also, more friction on the volume knobs. They tend to shake back to 12 o'clock after a while...Read More...

F1 Model 812 systems with Numark/Mackie and Peavy Sub Setup

Hi, I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a pair of F1 812's. I DJ and Karaoke anywhere from small rooms (500 sq. ft.) to halls for wedding receptions. I use a pair of passive Yorkville 15” speaker’s and an 18" passive Peavey subwoofer with a couple Mackie M1400i FR series amps along with my Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro mixer. I have two different setups I use, one for DJing with my Numark with the other for Karaoke. 1) DJ Setup: a) Speakers: Numark Mixdeck Quad > 1 st Mackie M1400i FR series...Read More...

Use the F1 like an L1 - behind you etc?

I'm considering getting a pair of F1s for a band (trio) I'm in. Most of the time we would be using these in a typical FOH position, using stage monitors. However, in some cases, like house concerts, it might be nice to use them like I've used my L1, positioned behind us. Since I already have one L1, I was wondering if we could use the F1s (on stands) behind us, as if they were a pair of L1s, in addition to the L1 that I have. I know they behave as line arrays - I'm wondering would they work...Read More...

one F1 812 vs two S1 pro

Hi everyone, I'm not a musician and I'm not into djing. Since the price is almost equal, I would like to recive comments about comparison between having one F1 model 812 or two S1 pro. Which choice would be better overall? Thanks.Read More...
Hola gioanin.

Connect to a mixer

Use two TRS to XLR BALANCED cables from the main outputs of your mixer (TRS male) to the inputs on the F1s. They look like these: https://www.sweetwater.com/c81...ed_Cables_XLR_to_TRS And if necessary you can use regular xlr to xlr balanced cables to extend the distance.Read More...

I'm on the fence about a pair of F1's with a few questions.

I'm on the fence about a pair of F1's with a few questions. I'm a DJ and would like to know how the amp stays cool for 4 to 6 hours of play. 3 to 4 hours of that is dance music at higher volumes. Also, how do the amps hold up long term (years) without having a fan along with good circulation? How great are these tops for your average halls with a dance floor average 24x24'? I have heard that the C pattern is great as well for Djing.Read More...
I agree to use subs! I have sold many of the f1 812 with sub. I have used them in DJ work. I have never had a failure. It seems the engineers would have put a fan on the units if they were not needed.Read More...

Bose F1 812 vs QSC K12

DJ8X
This is just a quick comparison of the two speakers. I want to start out by saying that they are both loud. They both sound good. The QSC was able to get louder than the 812 before clipping, but not by much. Also, there was a different quality to the “loudness” from both speakers. For the sake of my testing, I ran the 812 in the C position. I did this because I am not fully sold on the Vertical coverage benefits of the flex array. I am a DJ who will most likely always play on the same level...Read More...

Full band Setup

Hello! I just recently purchased the F1 System (812 Speaker and Subwoofer). My plan for this system is to run a full band through it via 14 channel mixer. And I would also be connecting a laptop/iPad for canned music. In the instruction book, it gives multiple examples on how to setup the system for a full band but doesn’t give an example for a single 812 speaker and subwoofer setup. I would gladly welcome any suggestions on how to setup this up to get the best sound! P.s I do plan on buying...Read More...

Connect a sound mixer

Hello! I’m looking to get the F1 Model 812 and F1 Subwoofer to use with a sound mixer (Peavey PV14). I wanted to get some insight on how to connect the mixer to the F1 System. The 812 only has 1 XLR input, how would I connect the left and right channels from the mixer? The subwoofer has 2 inputs that I can use for L and R from the mixer but then how would I connect the L and R to the 812?Read More...
Hi, Gbobby. Stereo requires two mid-high loudspeakers (e.g., two F1 Model 812 systems). Since you have only one F1 Model 812 with F1 Subwoofer, you cannot achieve stereo sound. There is nothing to be gained by running two cables from the mixer to the F1 Model 812 however, if you want to do it, use Tip-Ring-Sleeve to XLR cables. Set the Input 1 Signal Input to LINE Set the volume controls so you see solid green on the LEDs. It's okay if you see flickers of red (up to one second). If you see...Read More...

Loud Hum from set up using F1 812 powered speaker

Hi I must firstly say that the Bose F1 812 speaker sound is Fantastic. I use a Tone match T1 mixer with F1 812 speaker and iPad for Backing tracks. When I first received the speaker plugged everything in absolute perfect sound. Now after 4 or 5 gigs using the same set up (photos attached) It has now developed an annoying humming sound. To try and trace the problem I firstly disconnected the T1. With the master imput volume down to zero and the iPad plugged into the back of the speaker volume...Read More...

4 812s/ sub coupling

Hey everyone, I have an out door gig (live band) I have 4 812s and 2 subs. I would like to run 2 812s (full range setting), 2 812s (with sub setting) out to subs. How do I set this up? I would also like to try putting subs together in a corner, how beneficial would it be? Thanx!!!Read More...
Hi, Pedro Laires. I understand you are using 4 F1 systems simultaneously. That's definitely not recommended. They weren't engineered to be used that way. Bose recommends that when using more than two F1 Model 812 systems, you place the units where you need the sound. Rather than stacking two F1 Model 812 systems, put them on separate stands and put them where you need the coverage. It sounds like you are enjoying your F1 systems. That's terrific. STRead More...

Has anyone had any luck repairing a blown 812 loudspeaker?

After a few years of service, one of my speakers started to rattle. Has anyone had success getting it repaired?Read More...
Hi Gleb, I'm sorry you're having a problem with the F1 Model 812. A rattle might be a loose grill. The grills are pressure fit at the edges. (Don't press in the middle). If the rattle is inside the unit, you can send them into Bose for repair. F1 System Sound Problems and lack of Base

Hay guys I'm having some serious problems with my F1 system, I have to 2 F1 812;s and 2 F1 Subs connects as follows, direct master output of Pioneer Dj mixer, Xlr into the Subs and then to the Tops, the 812's cannot go any more than 12 oc clock or ill get a steady orange limit light on the speaker and there is practically no pump from the base bins, even standing in front of them, was expecting a lot more for my money but left scratching my head, also having a smell come from the speakers...Read More...
Hi Chris, Try -0dB. If you're hitting the limiter, you may be at the maximum volume for the F1 Model 812 (and that should be LOUD). If you connect the F1 Model 812 LINE OUT to the F1 Subwoofer, that too should give you the maximum volume available from the F1 Subwoofer (assuming you've got lots of bass content in the source). L1 compacts vs F1 812 - for gymnasium

Hi. Need some help on setting up sound for dancers in a gym. For the last 9 years, I have used 2 L1 compacts with no subwoofer and no mixer. Sound comes from an iPad, through the first L1. The 2 speakers are placed 20 feet apart, facing the dancers and facing away from the audience who are in bleachers. The 2nd L1 compact has a 2nd iPod that plays music in between performances, at a lower level and only from that speaker. What I've experienced is distortion on the 2nd speaker when I play...Read More...
Hi Apple, I'm not convinced you need direct boxes for the L1 Compacts. Does the buzz persist when you have everything plugged into the same power source? Are any of the signal cables that connect the F1 and L1 Compact systems run parallel to power cables? STRead More...

F1 812 clipping

hi, we we are a 5 piece band, going through an Allen and Heath mix wizard 3 to two F1 subs then out of subs to two F1 812s. We are getting a lot of clipping (red light) on the 812s during our performance. The mixer's mains and channel faders are set to unity gain. The 812s are set to "with sub" and the subs are set to full range. The volumes of all speakers are around the 1 o'clock mark. can anyone shed any light on how to address this clipping issue. it appears to happen most when more than...Read More...

F1 addition to my L1 + T1 set up

I'm a solo acoustic vocalist and acoustic guitar player playing small to medium-sized rooms. I have been running the L1 successfully for the last 6 months and found that on a few shows where the crowd wanted to dance I needed a little more air to move and the mids and low end to kick a little harder. So I just picked up an F1 812 speaker without the sub to my set up. My question is what is the best way to run the F1 and the L1 from the T1 so I can utilize its extra power in the best way ...Read More...
I’m curious about this thread. I’ve got the L1S and I’m thinking about reinforcing it with the F1 812. To the OP, how did you set your two systems up in relation to each other? Was it a remarkable difference and was feedback an issue? Thanks.Read More...

F1 loudspeakers safe usage

Hii.. i need help using my f1 loudspeaker as i replaced my old one as the 12" woofer was damaged.. while i already use the limiter and i was watching the limit LED.. now after i replaced it , i'am all the time looking at the back LED and the front one. If it's possible to get a 2nd F1 Model 812 on rent for a day (or if another friend has it ... or if you could take your speaker to the showroom & A/B it against their display until)... you could compare both speakers to see if they are limiting at the same time ... also swap left/right to re-ensure limiting is happening correctly (sometimes one channel may be hotter than the other depending on recording content). If both speakers are limiting at the same time, you're driving your speaker...Read More...
