I would say making a water resistant... using the same technologies that Bluetooth speakers use would be GREAT! I am not sure why cheap Bluetooth speakers can be water proof, and Bose portable PA gear is not... in fact this is true of all pro audio powered speakers. One idea I had was to have the power cord on the bottom and perhaps have the F1 have a lip around the bottom of the speaker so that if rain was blowing in on the side the power cord would be safely tucked up out of the way...Read More...

L1 compacts vs F1 812 - for gymnasium

Hi. Need some help on setting up sound for dancers in a gym. For the last 9 years, I have used 2 L1 compacts with no subwoofer and no mixer. Sound comes from an iPad, through the first L1. The 2 speakers are placed 20 feet apart, facing the dancers and facing away from the audience who are in bleachers. The 2nd L1 compact has a 2nd iPod that plays music in between performances, at a lower level and only from that speaker. What I've experienced is distortion on the 2nd speaker when I play...Read More...
Awesome! All of it! I owe you big time. December 15th. New equipment and cords will arrive in the next 2 days & I'll do a dry run in the basement. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!Read More...

2.5" array speakers stop working...

I have 4 F1 Model 812 and 10 F1 Sub speakers. I LOVE them. I haven't had any other small PA that comes close to the sound and ease of setup as I do with these. I just sent two of the 812 cabs back (1 of them for the 2nd time...) to get the 2.5" arrays to work. When I power them up, the arrays don't work: I need to turn the volume up or down, or smack the side of the cabinet to get them to work. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there something I can do to keep from having to send them...Read More...
Hey ST... You're right: I'm only getting charged for one of the repairs. It is odd however, that I have 2 cabs with the exact same problem and consecutive serial numbers. It make me believe there was an issue with this productions. I wondered if others had the same problem that could be identified before a breakdown. I'm lucky: I have two back-ups. But I'm s rewed if the two I have now fail while the other two are in for repair. I really don't want to go through this again. I keep them in...Read More...

Surround Sound with F1 812 / F1 Subs / S1 Pro / Roomatch RMU208

Greetings, I recently held my first music workshop utilizing a Klipsch home 7.1 theatre with Dolby Surround for critical listening which is a key part of the workshop. Media used are FLAC and Lossless files. The mission was accomplished with the Klipsch but it wasn’t practical for the repeated moves etc... but the concept was proven. up.... I got the Bose F1 Set up to create a more dynamic and immersive listening experience and being that it's my first foray into Pro Audio I wanted to get...Read More...
@jlowe jlowe... I agree that an F1 as center channel would be sweet and I’m concerned with the size. In these workshops I try to have an unobstructed view, but it’s worth a shot. I’ve been looking more at the S1Pro, and it looks to have the same HF Drivers as the 812 but only 3 of them, and a 6” mid woofer. It looks like a mini-812. I’d really like to try theseRead More...

4 812s/ sub coupling

Hey everyone, I have an out door gig (live band) I have 4 812s and 2 subs. I would like to run 2 812s (full range setting), 2 812s (with sub setting) out to subs. How do I set this up? I would also like to try putting subs together in a corner, how beneficial would it be? Thanx!!!Read More...
Hi Patrick, Thanks for the interesting question. Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. If you have two sound sources that are relatively small not driven very hard you look only at relatively low frequencies Then you get +6 dB more sound pressure level (SPL) from two as compared to one. The B1 connected to an L1 is a good example of that: 2 B1s give 6 dB more than one. You gain 3 dB by doubling the electrical power (250 Watt for two, 125 Watt for one). The other 3 dB is gained by...Read More...

F1 addition to my L1 + T1 set up

I'm a solo acoustic vocalist and acoustic guitar player playing small to medium-sized rooms. I have been running the L1 successfully for the last 6 months and found that on a few shows where the crowd wanted to dance I needed a little more air to move and the mids and low end to kick a little harder. So I just picked up an F1 812 speaker without the sub to my set up. My question is what is the best way to run the F1 and the L1 from the T1 so I can utilize its extra power in the best way ...Read More...
Thanks for your reply, awesome! I have the L1 Model ll, B1. And now an F1 top box. The info you provided is perfect. I ran the system at a show last night before I got your reply, using the Aux output from the T1 which worked well and gave me a separate mix for the F1. Today I’ll try the master output and see how the system sounds at an outdoor gig. It was good to note in the article you linked how hard I can run the F1 if required, “till the red limit indicater is flashing but not on...Read More...

System for a 1300 Sq.Ft. Bar

Hi, I am opening a small whiskey bar with a small stage next month. (I have two renderings attached) in front. The concept is to have a stage that can host musician live event. The bar has a mezzanine level. I am thinking about getting 2 sets of F1 812/F1 subwoofer (L/R), is there anything else I will need to make the system work? thank you very much! I am wondering: 1. do I need more speaker(like a center one) near the stage? 2.any other devices i need to purchase? 3.do i need some...Read More...

Flying the F1 system

I've found a wall mount for the F1's 812 array, But I need a flying cable mount system for the full F1 system. Cabling is no problem, it's the mounts for the speakers I need. Anybody know of a solution? BenRead More...
Ben I agree with ST, the F1 is a ground stack system. By attempting to fly the speakers you could be risking legal problems for yourself and the venue should there be a rigging failure.Read More...

F1 Subwoofer with T1

I am thinking of getting the F1 sub, but how did you connect the F1 sub to T1 mixer? Could it be the main aux on T1, so I can control the F1 sub bass volume on the T1 Aux knob separately from T1 port 4/5 music volume. That way I can balanced the music and bass. New discussion created for this question. Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...
Hi Longstars, Yes, the Aux level percent is does control the volume for Aux. I meant there is no physical volume knob for Aux. If you use Master Output, the level going out to the F1 Subwoofer will go up and down everything else. "That way I can balanced the music and bass." You can control the balance with the volume control on the F1 Subwoofer. STRead More...

@NAW-T-BOY , You may want to consider adding some time delay to the L1 Compacts based on how far away they are from the 812/F1Subs.Read More...

Stacking Bose F1 Subwoofer

DJ8X
I don't know if this has already been posted. But I just discovered that the Bose F1 subwoofer is physically designed for stacking multiple Subs one on top of the other. I was just playing around with the sub and laid it on its side and notice something strange about the frame. Again like I said if this has been posted already please excuse meRead More...
Orientation for subs doesn't matter in terms of output as long as they are close enough together for the coupling effect to occur. I would consider running a pair of F1 Subs together side by side with one acting as the stand for two 812s if I needed more sub output. However, I just use a larger subwoofer when the gig calls for more bass. The 812s will not couple well at all unless you orient them 100 degrees apart which to avoid combing which is...a bit tedious and doesn't offer much more...Read More...

DriveRack 360 Set-up with F1 system.

jdbassentertainment.com
I am interested in integrating the DriveRack 360 in between my mixer RM32AI and my Bose F1 system. I would run the output xlr's from the 360 to the F1 Subs and then from the outs of the F1 Sub to the F1 tops. Any know what the max input is before clipping on the F1 gear? I would like to set up the clip limiters... I plan on also be using the auto eq in tough rooms to notch out the bad frequencies...Read More...
I use the DriveRack PA2 with my F1 setup. I use the wizard button and select "not listed" for the speakers and amps. I only use the highs for the outputs on the DriveRack, since I run XLR cables from the DriveRack, to the F1 sub, then to the F1 top. I also run the AutoEQ wizard with the RTA mic, and the AFS wizard for the mics. I'm not sure how different it would be with the DriveRack 360. I haven't played with the clip limiter settings before.Read More...

Stereo Capability using a projector or live music to two F1 Model 812 systems

Hi, I am new to this stuff and need expert advice. I want to do outdoor projections for a 200+ people crowd. Since I will project movies, videos or do live music, I’m interested in stereo capabilities and placing one speaker in each side of the screen. I am wondering if I can have two F1s. One LEFT and the other one RIGHT. I read this is possible; however, I do not know how. Do I need a mixer for this? Or can I do it pretty basic. For example, projector has a 3.5mm audio output. Can use a...Read More...
Hi Dio, Sounds like a great event. Are you extending invitations? Additionally for movies, consider adding the F1 subwoofer below each F1. In addition to elevating the height of the 812, this will add some extra "thump" to the movie content. Enjoy. MarcRead More...

Two F1 812 systems added to L1 Model II with Yamaha board - How do I connect?

I currently own L1 Model 2 with B2 and T1. I use it with 3-4 piece Acoustic project I’m very close to purchasing 2 812’s no subs. looking for advice on running all through 12 channel Yamaha board still being able to use L1 as stage monitor any help connecting all this would be appreciated Edit Subject: Previously "Connection questions" Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...
Hi Jim Taylor, You can do it either way. You can connect the mixer left and right outputs to T1 channel 4/5. The T1 was engineered to work with a stereo source (like a mixer). See this article: T1 to F1 Model 812 OR Connect the left and right outputs of the Yamaha board to the first and second F1 Model 812 systems On the Yamaha board, set up an Aux output send to the T1 (or directly to the L1 Model II Power Stand Analog Input). Either is fine. Connecting to the T1 will give you another layer...Read More...
