From La Rochelle/FRANCE... Hope my english is OK ! I've been using "4xSub 302 and 8x802 with 4 amplifiers BOSE 1800-VI" since 1998. Proud to be sound engineer for rock-jazz-blues-reggae or even classical music'groups all along, with audience to 2,000 people max, i first heard the F1 system on the 1st of July 2018. Waoooouh ! On September, i decided to sell my whole system, then immediatly bought 2 F1 Sub + 2 F1 812. Too happy to keep on the roads, at the moment, people are very surprised to...Read More...

F1 Subwoofer Bag from Bose

I feel pretty dumb here trying to get this cover on the best way. Is there supposed to be a top or bottom? Mine is missing the cutout for the handle on one end, which makes it super awkward to carry, so still can't figure out what the best way to put this thing on. This is the authorized genuine Bose cover.Read More...
Personally, I like the Bose bags. Every one of us who has been in the business for a long time knows how speakers can get bumped, banged around, and scuffed up in transport. These bags, while expensive, do a great job of keeping my investment safe from getting all banged up. They ARE a bit awkward trying to get them zipped up because of the tight fit at times. And I also had a problem with the zipper snapping off. I used a key ring to replace it and it works fine.Read More...

Testing the F1 Model 812 mid/treble cones

Hi there, is there any way of knowing if one (or more) of the treble cones has blown in the F1 tops? I'm not expecting it to happen because of the circuitry being far better these days however I remember frequently taking 802's down in clubs and finding only half the cones were working. It's difficult just to listen to them individually because of the position of them in the array, so do Bose have any way of telling during servicing which cones are blown without dismantling the whole unit?Read More...

F1 subs hot and weak??

jdbassentertainment.com
We recently performed at a High School prom. We ran the sound (2 F1 Stacks) off one breaker and the lights off the another. We put both subs under our table that was skirted. Typically the mixer I use (Denon X900) doesn’t have enough output to make signal lights flash red... they remain green. So typically we run the volume wide open giving the subs as much volume as possible. The dance went great and the F1 System sounded great as always, but towards the end of the dance my wife told me...Read More...
We were running the sound through a monster power conditioner with a voltage read out on the front and it read 122v at startup... but I never thought to look at it during this situation to see if the voltage had dropped??? Now I wish I had...Read More...

Recommended Height of Bose F1 with Tripod

As I only have two Bose F1 Tops, I set the height with Tripod to 7.5 feet (peak of the F1) at venue (L:50 feet X W:25 feet), when I observed it at the back row of the venue. It looks ~70% of F1 are covered by persons. Hence, I am planning to lift it up to 8.5 feet (near our false ceiling). Therefore, I would like to ask the recommended height of F1 with Tripod. Thanks KenRead More...
@Ryan Martindale I have found that 14ft apart works very well. I am not a huge fan of speakers on stands anymore (unless the gig is small or it is absolutely needed). So I always try to find ways to not take away from the aesthetics of the stack that BOSE intended. I know they didn't think of every possible situation, but if we put our heads together, we can collectively come up with sound solutions.Read More...

F1 System hookup with QSC k10 Stereo or mono ?

Hi ST I`ve just purchased a new Bose F1 system & am looking forward to taking it out on its virgin voyage this weekend Just need a bit of hand holding with a couple of aspects I`m only running one F1 system & using a TS8….also planning to use a QSC k10 for foldback So out of the mains of the TS8 I`m going into the back of the F1 SUB line inputs then of course an XLR goes into the F1 top box ….. I`ve been going out of the line out of the F1 (top box) into the QSC should I be panning...Read More...
Thanks ST very helpful & thanks John ,yes you are on the money - my idea (as I`m the only mixer in the room) is to be able to hear / adjust the mix as the audience hears it the Bose community is the most friendly and prompt I`ve had the pleasure to deal with :-) cheers & thanks JeromeRead More...

Bose Sub Case - Zipper Issue

I was unpacking my Bose F1 Sub and the zipper became stuck. The teeth on the zipper, instead of being locked in, one was sticking straight up. So, it was very difficult to get the zipper unzipped. Anyone else having issues with the zippers? Is this a warranted item from Bose?Read More...

Speaker placement

I have a pair of F1 speaker systems (including 2 812's and 2 subs). I have 4 big school proms coming up, each of them in a wide open gym. Assuming I will be placed near the wall, but in the center of the gym, with both speaker systems facing out toward the crowd, what is the best possible placement for them? Should they both be STRAIGHT out, or would it be better to aim them out in a V-shaped angle? Which setup would cause more noise cancellation issues? Also, since I'm on the floor (not a...Read More...
Hi Tony, Great. Thanks for the background information. That's helpful. The horizontal dispersion of the F1 Model 812 is 100 degrees for the mid-high frequences. The low frequencies are omnidirectional. Keeping the horizontal dispersion in mind, aim the F1 Model 812s so they cover where the people will be with the least amount of overlap. There's no perfect way to do both so there will always be some overlap. The potential for cancellation is in the area where the sound fields of the two F1...Read More...

Dents in F1 812 front mesh covers

I stupidly let someone else carry one of the F1 tops on Saturday and now there are dents in the bottom two panels on one of the speakers. The metal is very soft and bends easily. Is it possible to remove these covers and straighten them? They had third party covers on (Bose ones far too expensive) but still got damaged even through the padding.Read More...

F1 Model 812 without the F1 Subwoofer

A friend of mine plays some pretty big solo acoustic shows and his L1 M2 with B2 and T1 just can't keep up. He's currently using another brand speaker out front and the L1 M2 behind him, but he's not really happy with this arrangement. We were discussing this and I was wondering if using a pair of F1 Model 812s without the F1 Subwoofer would do the would be better than adding another L1 M2. That said, I have a couple of questions: Can you use the F1 Model 812 "stand alone" without the...Read More...
Hi there ww did use L1 behind us and F1 system out front (either with or without subs depending on gig). However, the L1 packed up and Bose were not interested in even looking at it + local fixers couldn’t. Sickening that one problem with amp section means two bass units + column are useless. Good news is we bought two Alto Professional TX208 Powered Loudspeakers for £180 and they are superb. No front fill, but not needed with F1s.Read More...

F1 - No ToneMatch port?

ST
Hi Joel, quote: Originally posted by Joelheck: A price schedule would be nice. I know they don't reveal any advanced info, but I would imagine a mixer of some sort is probably coming. Especially since they did not add a Tonematch T1 port. Same mistake as the L1 Compact. That has been a foolish oversight since day 1. I stopped holding my breath for a L1 Compact MII. It never made sense to skip it. I'm sure the pricing will be published soon. ToneMatch Port I've been thinking about this since...Read More...
There Is a solution. You Can use your tone match, it requires a power adapter which sells for $51. I personally think it should be included, but then I do not run Bose. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!!Read More...

F1 subs "rumbling"

Nick from New Zealand
Hi team, Posting this on behalf of my friend Shaun. Live singer with a piano keyboard and backing tracks playing through some sort of small mixer. Dual F1 system, running out of mixer into sub, then out of sub into 812 top. Either left/right stereo, or dual mono - not sure. Old wooden floor, sounds like the floor was raised and on foundations, so basically "hollow" underneath - but not unique, pretty standard stuff for an old venue in New Zealand. Shaun has done about 50 shows with the F1,...Read More...
I've also been contemplating this problem with Shaun. I wonder if his foldback monitor is to blame. I know what his microphone (Sennheiser 955) is and it tends to be pretty good at filtering out high frequencies which are what causes the high frequency squeal but a low rumble would be more likely to come from the floor monitor (QSC K12) or bldg / floor harmonics I would imagine.Read More...

Running multiple F1 systems side by side

Does anyone have any experience with running multiple F1 systems side by side? We own 8 of these systems, and had an outdoor event that was supposed to only be around 1,100 people.. When we realized that it would be closer to 4k people, we panicked and used EVERYTHING WE HAD lol. The concert went smooth and sounded great, but I knew that we'd be introducing a nice amount of cone filtering due to the last minuet judgement call. There was some slight phasing issues, but not so much that we had...Read More...

Wireless Mic sound is "Muffled"

I am the owner of a small spin studio and recently purchased the F1 speaker with the subwoofer. We have 2 wireless microphones both the same. SHURE Model BLX1. We have just upgraded from the L1 and the clarity of our voices while cueing is so much worse. We can't figure out why this is happening. Have called Bose Support twice with no answer. Is there any way I could get an answer on which mic..built for fitness classes...is the BEST for this system?? Thank you GretchenRead More...
The F1 has a much more mid-range focused sound that that is less forgiving to lower quality analog mixers/sources. The L1 Classic/M1/MII speakers tend to be much clearer and more "hi-fi" in my experience.Read More...

F1 Subs

I can never seem to get enough bottom thump from the kick drum from the subs of the F1. I use Mackie DL16S with Master fader 5. I plug into the sub first and go into the 812. I Eq and compress the channel, I send it to a sub and add more bottom end and the kick is still sounds thin. I have to jack the bottom EQ for FOH to get anything from them. I use the identical settings with my smaller yamaha system 10's with a 12" sub. The Yamaha subs response with the same settings is like night and...Read More...
Hi Fclayton, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Thanks for the interesting question. As Smitty noted, you can connect from the board to the F1 Model 812s to the F1 Subwoofers. The Line Out on the F1 Model 812s is post-volume control so you can pick up some gain for the F1 Subwoofers running through the F1 Model 812s first. OR You can crank up the output from the mixer. As long as you are not clipping the signal in the mixer or seeing the F1 Model 812 LEDS solid red for more than a...Read More...

Hi Daniel, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Great question. It depends on the output level of your mixer. Please read through the following an excerpt from a larger article about the F1 Model 812 Rear Panel IO Volume Controls and Signal / Clip lights Typically you will want to set your source (usually a mixer or T1 ToneMatch ® Audio Engine or ToneMatch Mixer [1] ) to the maximum you can without clipping. On a mixer this may be shown as unity or 0. When setting the Volume Control on...Read More...

F1 Model 812 with F1 Subwoofers - having trouble getting my F1s to have the power and punch

I'm having trouble getting my f1s to have the power and punch I need for 3 piece band. My signal is presonus studiolive 16.4.2 AI into 2 f1 subs out to 2 f1 line arrays.
