But Mid seem brighter than low and high.I had mess with Xover Liltle but not the EQ. Connecting F1's to Tonematch for audio device usage

kevinaugustine
Equipment: Bose f1 system (2 tops, 2 subs) T1 Tonematch T1 Power Supply Iphone/Macbook pro Hi Guys! Nice to be back! I've recently been asked if I could set up the F1's for a wedding party of about 150 people. I've never done this before but I said I would regardless. (just some simple spotify playlist stuff) My question is how is this done using the T1 and would I need some sort of splitter 1/4 jack stereo cable to minijack to connect to my iPhone/macbook from the Tonematch? T1® to F1s, Setup suggestions please

I am a solo artist with a current setup of T1 to L1 model II w B2 Sub and either 1 or 2 (depending on venue) F1 812's for front of house. I run my show backing tracks from laptop software .... 1/8" output from the computer to channels 4/5 on the T1 ...... Tonematch cable to L1 Power Stand and T1 master output to F1 812 (daisy chain to second F1 812 when using). I have just purchased two F1 subs and intend to retire my L1 system to my rehearsal studio; consequently for live performances I...Read More...

getting the right sound

Hi, I have an L1 system and a recently bought pair of f1812s with subs. I play live on a Yamaha EL900 Synth/organ and play bass on touch sense pedalboard. I use a live drummer (kick & Snare miked) I use an SM58 for my vocals and everything is channeled through a Mackie analog desk. I feel I should be getting a deep tight bass from the organ and kick drum but this is not the case. The green light on the back of the subs barely lights up and the 812s function as they should. I wire...Read More...
Hi Angus, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. It sounds like you need to raise the output from the Mackie desk. Things to try: Turn up the outputs on the Mackie desk until the outputs are just below clipping If there is a MIC/LINE switch on the back, set it to MIC. Does that help? If not, try routing the output of the Mackie desk to the F1 812 inputs, and take the F1 812 Line Outs to the F1 Subwoofers. Please let us know if that helps. Thanks, STRead More...

F1 Subs

This weekend I ran a church fair I was using 4 812 F1 and matching 4 F1 subs. Well the 1st thing happen was when I turn on my speakers everything was look good no noise (hum), next I turn on my computer like always do to run some music on the PA to test my sound. I didn't have any bass, so I check the bass sub everything was on tops working fine, just didn't have any gain on my subs. I usually run the gain at 3/4, so I test them by bring my phone to the stage and plugging in to the back with...Read More...
Hi Russ, Please check your F1 Subwoofers today. Are they working okay (in a new location)? If so, the problem had something to do with the venue. When you were testing, did you use a stereo source from your phone? That could have caused the problem you described. Note: The 1/4 inch (6mm) inputs on the F1 Subwoofer and F1 Model 812 are balanced mono inputs. If you run a stereo signal into one of the Combo jacks on the F1 Subwoofer you may get a very low output or sound that is missing most of...Read More...

Distorted 1x12" Combo Amp Direct Into F1?

Hello, I'm interested in purchasing a F1 Model 812 and I wanted to know if it is possible to run my Blackstar HT40 1x12" combo direct into the F1? When I play live I can use the Emulated Output on the back of the amp and run the amp direct into the house PA system/board. However most of the time my amp is mic'd up by the sound guy and it's put through the house PA that way...mixed at the board. Running it direct through the emulated out direct in is ideal for me in this application because I...Read More...
Hi Funboy, I've set up an F1 Model 812 on a stand facing diagonally from one corner of the room to the opposite corner - the one farthest away. Setting it up this worked fine. The F1 Model 812 wasn't deep in the corner, but it was at the corner described by the edge of the stage where it met the wall and a foot or two back. I was near the front of the stage and I was able to hear it well enough for monitoring. I don't think anyone at Bose is going to promise that it will sound as good...Read More...

Great sound for the U.S. Mint!

jdbassentertainment.com
We had the great honor of providing sound for the U.S. Mint for the new Apostle Islands quarter! We used two 812 tops in full range and just the subs as glorified speaker stands! We did this because of the small foot print and lack of tripping hazard. There was easily 500 people packed in the convention hall. For a mic system we used a wireless Shure QLXD in the VHF band with the Beta 58a Transmitter and active directional antennas... It sounded clean and crisp all the way in the back!Read More...

Feedback from in front of 812 tops

jdbassentertainment.com
This one goes out to presenters who are looking at the F1 system. If you think you might ever be in front of the system while using the mic you may want to look at a L1 Model 1S or Model II system. They are much better for this. At some of my DJ shows I teach line dancing... If I am using the F1 system I have to be very careful not to get close to the speakers. If I get even remotely close the 812 speakers will usually feedback rather badly. Just a tip.Read More...
Beta 58a run into my Denon X900 mixer... Mic up quite loud and I am standing facing the F1 812 tops about 10 feet out then turning to the side then facing away... teaching line four wall dances. Low end performance of F1 subs

I do not have the pleasure of owning a Bose F1 system, but I am very interested in buying one. I've read plenty of blogs/reviews and I like what I have seen so far. But there is still one question I have that is keeping me from taking the leap. I will be using this sound for live application. It'll be for a 4 piece "tejano/conjunto" band (vocals, button accordion, guitar, bass, and drums). This style of music is driven strongly by the bass line and drums, mainly the kick drum. So in turn I'm...Read More...

Connecting compact Bose with acoustic amp

Pleased to join the Bose community! I have just purchased the bose L1 compact, and I'd like to know how to connect my aer acoustic amp to it, giving me a stereo sound. I have tried using the "di out" xlr output on the aer with the lower 1/4" jack input on the bose , but to no avail. I play solo classical guitar at wedding receptions, and the noise of 80 plus people all talking at once can completely drown me out. I figured having both amps working would boost the sound so I would be still...Read More...
I need to get the cable you suggest, as the one I have is an unbalanced TS sleeve, with just the one ring. That would be the best solution if I wanted to separate the amps up to 20 ft. I am playing at a wedding this Saturday , and i can't wait see how to the 2 amps cope with the noisy chatter at the reception. Thanks again my friendRead More...

L1 Model 2 monitors/F1 812 and F1 Subs as FOH

Anywhere PRO Audio
I recently used two L1 Model 2 with B2 bass as front facing rear monitors and two sets of F1 812 and F1 subs for FOH. The sound was INCREDIBLE! Landscape: Stage was approx 30' across and 25' deep with thin-medium thickness rear and wing tapestry. Stage height was 2' above first row of seats and 2' below last row of seats. Venue was nearly 4,000 sq ft and sat 285 with slightly raked seating. (220+ attended) Two Bose L1 Model II with B2 subs for rear (front facing) stage fill and two sets of...Read More...

low sound from array

Hi I have two L1 array systems inc subs and at gig last night one side had minimum sound from the array(the sub that side was ok), while the other side was very loud and the limiter kept going in the red. The gains on the back were set to 3/4s, so i turned the gain down on the one which was loud and this eliminated the limiter going red. We mix using an Allen&Heath digital mixer and there isn't any way to pan to a side and the main mix out is a single slider. I have had the system for...Read More...

Bose F1 Subwoofer Cross-over Point

DJ8X
i'm curious about the crossover point for the F1 Subwoofer. The other day while listening to a song, I noticed my sub was giving off additional sound when there was technically no reason for it to be reacting. So, I turned down the volume on the top to take a listen. I was able to hear vocals and all coming from the sub. They were not as clear as a top cab, but it was more than what I was accustomed to getting from a sub. Thoughts?Read More...
Yes it is. I've actually become accustomed to using the systems in this manner : during quieter portions on the program such as dinner or coctail, run sub thru and 812 full range. During dance portion of the program, run sub hpf and 812 with sub. This has been cool so far.Read More...

2 F1 Systems covering 9k sq.ft.

DJ8X
I did a gig last night and the facility opened up all of their rooms to create their Grand Ballroom. The ballrooms and the pre-function area totaled 12,284 sq.ft. While the sound could be heard very well in the pre-function area, I declined to include this. I was not set up centered in the room, it was deeply off-centered. I had 1 system facing forward and the other system pointed toward the opposing corner of the room/diagonally..which was quite a distance. We had approximately 300 people.Read More...

Floor Monitor Concept

Anywhere PRO Audio
Background: I own Anywhere PRO Audio & Entertainment located in Jacksonville, NC. In 2012, I purchased two L1 Model II's for DJ and live sound for multiple bands, trios and solo acts and they worked out great until I set up outdoors for medium size gigs (500+) and couldn't achieve bass to parallel the db of the mid/high range. (in Bose portable PA). Bought four B2 bass modules in 2015 and updated firmware on L1's...some better, but they have quite a bit of annoying rear bleed at moderate...Read More...

The F1 Model Subwoofer draws 2.3 amps (see information above the IEC connector.) It's up to you to determine if these devices are safe. Multiple 812s for coverage / comb filtering / HF cancellation

Hi, folks. Big BOSE live sound fan here. We're considering purchasing at least four (4) F1 stacks (812s and subs) for use in smaller venues as portable mains. Concern / Question is how best to set, hang, mount, splay, cluster, etc.. at least 2 tops per side (when needed for additional coverage / spl) without encountering nasty comb filtering and HF cancellation issues? Please advise and thank you. :)Read More...

Two F1 812

Hi everyone's, Just received a pair of F1 812 today while waiting for the T8S to be available. Without using the ToneMatch T8S, do I really need any other powered speaker's processor like DBX? I just do not want to spend any more money while waiting for the Bose ToneMatch T8S. I am currently using a mixer with an external effect with a pair of Behringer Eurolive B1200D-PRO (which will be replaced by F1-812) Greatly appreciated for any advises.Read More...

Source Output Levels for Bose F1 System

DJ8X
I have read in a few places that the Bose F1 system performs best when connected to a source with a strong output level. I am wondering just how true this may be. I lean toward the idea that the F1 system performs well no matter the source. I was able to connect my system to two sources with different output levels, and I was able to achieve optimal sound on both sources. My test was very non-scientific. I just used the limit indicators on the F1 Sub and 812 as a reference point. I was able...Read More...
Yaaaaay....it's all good. My original test came from the desire of wanting to eliminate my Mackie mixer from the signal chain. While it does have a greater output than my Pioneer controller, the only real difference I observed was it had the ability to peak my system faster than my controller. My next test will actually involve spl meter readings at peak from both sources. If the Mackie proves to be "louder", then I might concluded that it also lowers the noise floor.Read More...
