Stacking Bose F1 Subwoofer

I don't know if this has already been posted. But I just discovered that the Bose F1 subwoofer is physically designed for stacking multiple Subs one on top of the other. I was just playing around with the sub and laid it on its side and notice something strange about the frame. Again like I said if this has been posted already please excuse meRead More...

Do Not Stack the F1 Subwoofers

Bose Pro Community Admin
To All! Bose recommends that you DO NOT STACK the F1 Subwoofers . Note: There is no advantage to stacking the F1 Subwoofers. Placing units side by side will have the same acoustic coupling effect as stacking. Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

A lot more volume past solid red lights...

jdbassentertainment.com
In my experience there is quite a bit of volume to be had past solid red lights on the 812 tops. This is achieved with out the limit light coming on. The red lights seem a bit too sensitive... Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!Read More...
Yes I like that. I will employ this tactic next time and measure my results.Read More...

Bose F1 812 vs QSC K12

This is just a quick comparison of the two speakers. I want to start out by saying that they are both loud. They both sound good. The QSC was able to get louder than the 812 before clipping, but not by much. Also, there was a different quality to the “loudness” from both speakers. For the sake of my testing, I ran the 812 in the C position. I did this because I am not fully sold on the Vertical coverage benefits of the flex array. I am a DJ who will most likely always play on the same level...Read More...
Hi jd stacks usually on ground level. Left side and right side. With the f1 we have not tried to cluster subs or elevate tops. For smaller gigs we have elevated tops without subs. We can try that next gig. In all honesty we really want to use the f1 for all gigs from 100 to over 500 but find our other systems seem to be more adaptable fir larger gigs.Read More...

Bose F1 Subwoofer vs. QSC KW181

Hi guys. I'm new to the form. And I am new to Bose products. My previous setup for DJing was to QSC K12 and one kw181. I was in the market for a lighter set up but one that did not compromise SPL and bass response. I stumbled upon the Bose F1 system. I bought a subwoofer and brought it to the house and did and a b comparison to the kw181. The kw181 is bigger it is heavier and it hits harder while going deeper. It was a close battle. The Bose F1 subwoofer technically lost that battle to the...Read More...
I feel the same way... the F1s subs come close to the sound of 18" subs and as far as I am concerned if I need more bottom end I just add more F1 subs. I am very happy with the sound and power to size ratio as well! This is coming from someone who use to own for double 18"s... and I have four F1 subs. Thanks for your review... I am looking for forward to your one comparing the tops!Read More...

Proper setup for two (2) F1 812 - No Sub

I did a new install for a church and am having trouble with the setup. I have two (2) F1 812s, flown, no sub. It's a mono system so my connections are: Mixer (Presonus 32.4.2AI), mono output => 812 (left), Input 1, Input Signal: Line Level. Line Out to 812 (right), Input 1, Input Signal: Line Level. EQ: Full Range (on both) Input 1 Volume: 50% (on both) The problem I am having is, the speaker on the right is twice as loud as the left. The left speaker sounds "thin" and distorted; the...Read More...

F1 on parade float - pic

Hi This past weekend we had the opportunity to perform on top of a float for our local town annual Christmas parade. We placed each F1 speaker on a stand facing out towards each side of the parade float and the F1 sub was placed centre front of float. It wasn’t the ideal situation but it worked. Performing on a moving float is difficult but we had a great time. There were a total of 45 floats in the parade. Float number 45 was of course Santa Claus. We were float number 42. I don’t have a...Read More...

Acoustic Gig - F1 812 (no bass unit)

Greetings all: Just a short note letting you folks know about how my live acoustic gig last night. I played at a winery. Just a little background first; I've been using my L1 Model II, B2 bass speaker for three years and love it. I wanted to use a set up that did not have as many pieces and parts. So, after much thought, I purchase the F1 812 from Jozy at Sweetwater. We spoke about my intended use and was very supportive of my pursuit and reported to me several of his customers have used the...Read More...
What I was looking for is a shorter stand to use. The speaker weighs a significant amount such that I have to try and balance the speaker on my shoulder. This LOWER stand is very heavy duty and works very well.Read More...

Solo Acoustic Performer

Greetings: I am a great Bose lover. I own L1 Model II with B2, L1 Model 1S System with B2. I have two Tone Match. I just purchased the F1 812 and plan to use it at my acoustic gig at wineries. I enjoy my Model II but it is getting a bit of a hassle to load and unload all the equipment and wanted something smaller. I had considered buying the LR Baggs Synapse when it finally comes out, but at $2000, I just didn't want to take a chance. So the F1 812 made more sense. I know what I'm getting...Read More...

MMA Fight PA setup

I thought I would share what setup I used for this event. I called Bose Tech support and Chris gave me this idea... Eq wise I bumped it up from 6k on a bit and also at 70hz I gave it a boost. It sounded sounded awesome!! Announcements were clear from everywhere I and I didn't even notice any phase cancellation while the music was being played. The room is rated for 350-400. Please excuse my quick drawing... 😀Read More...

EQ settings on F1

NAW-T-BOY
Let me start by saying I use Platinum Notes on all of my pre-recorded music. With it I get a nice even sound on all my tracks. I noticed that if I use my compacts I can basically have my Eq set to flat and I get amazing sound. A full complete crisp sound and plenty of high's But with the f1's I noticed I really have to play with the Eq settings for the highs to come out. If I leave it flat it seems to be just lows and mids. Anyone else who has compacts and f1s have the same experience when...Read More...
I personally think the F1's have a less processed and more raw sound than the L1 series... I prefer the Compacts/L1 Mod. II systems for DJ work... and the the F1's for live sound reinforcement. I feel the F1's were created for live sound applications (although it can be used for DJ shows) since they do sound a bit dark... which is good for live sound FOH mixing to combat feedback. Higher frequency tuned cabs generally squeal more... There is no secret EQ setting that will work for the F1...Read More...

Source Selection

Hi Guys, I was getting quite frustrated with my F1s not sounding the way I expected them to and after a lot of back and forth. Vocals in music and movies were very unintelligible and everything lacked detail. As it turns out, the built-in ADC/DAC on my Behringer X32 was the source of all of my problems. I just switched to a MOTU 828es and it has made a tremendous difference. (I would not recommend the Behringer X32 with the F1s, based on the better audio performance I was getting with my...Read More...
Wavesound I concur that for a home theater/audiophile setup that I would not choose the X32, but then again I also would not choose the F1 812 due to the noise floor. (The L1 MII + B2 does not have the same noise floor so I would use it for home theater/critical listening) I only use the X32 and F1 812 for live sound and as such, I am very happy with both.Read More...

Digital Mixer with Remote Control

ST
Hi Folks? What are you using for a digital mixer with remote capabilities? I'm looking for something that does NOT require that you do it with an iPad? I've read that the SoundCraft U16 will. Anybody have experience with that or something similar? http://www.soundcraft.com/products/ui16 Often mentioned is the QSC TouchMix 16, but from what I can see if you want remote control you need to use an Apple device. Since I don't already have anything Apple, that's an expense I'd prefer to avoid. STRead More...
HI ST Just wondering if you kept the Soundcraft and how did it compare sound quality-wise with the T!? (Tonematch aside, and feature differences aside.) I was needing something with a little more input capability, the ability to change scenes with a footswitch, and easy stereo, but I can live without these missing items from the T1, if, by getting them, I had to give up any of the T1 audio quality. Thanks! BryanRead More...

F1 Sub vs MB24

Psicoacústica
Hi, according to the datasheet, the F1 has a SPL Maximum of 130 dB (2 Drivers 10"), compared to MB24 (123 dB - 2 Drives 12"). That difference is correct?, what is the sensitivity (SPL / 1W @ 1m) of F1 Sub? If correct, why is the price so high of the MB24, adding that the F1 is active (including amplifier) and the MB24 is passive + the price of the amplifier. Thanks!.Read More...

Would L1 model 2 work as monitors with F1 system

Hi, some background info. My sons are in a Coldplay tribute band and do gigs in venues for between 200 - 800 people (inside and and outside). I recently upgraded their PA to 2x F1 tops & 2x 812 subs the FOH sound is fantastic, really happy with them. The problem is they now have a stage set up with a stage runway of around 4 meters for the vocalist. I have to say the crowd love it and it makes it more Coldplay. The issue is major feedback with the PA situated in the conventional area...Read More...
Hi dbmurcia, Thank you for joining the Community. This is a wonderful question! Looking at your diagram (thank you!) - it appears the distance from the L1®s to the F1s is about 12 meters. Is that correct? Overall, I think this could work very well. If the distance is 12 meters between the L1®s and the F1s, you'll want to introduce about 40 milliseconds delay between the L1®s and F1s so the sound is synchronized for the people who can hear both. That is: for the people who are in the area...Read More...

in large venues i need more power. the only way to achieve that without phasing issues is one being above the order (bose f1). some people use tripod stand to achieve that good. all i did was order two more bose f1 stands did some cutting and drill two hole to match the M8 thread on top of the f1. i make sure the levels and support are the same as Bose F1 Model 812 being mounted on the F1 Subwoofer.Read More...

Large Outdoor Gig with F1 System?

Hi Roger, Yes, you're right. Different input source, same problem. No solution. Sorry. When I tried the iPad via the Lightning adapter, this bypassed volume control on the iPad. The digital signal was at full volume. I had no control the volume on the iPad. To control the volume from the iPad on the T1®, you have to route the USB from PC signal through Channel 4/5. You won't be able to use Channel 4/5 for the guitar. STRead More...

Tone Match with FI

I recently purchased the Bose f1 model 812. I'.having trouble using the tone match with a computer running through it. Hi Double A DJ, Thank you for joining the Bose Pro Portable PA Community! If you had your DJ program working with the T1® to your L1 Model II, then things should work equally well with your F1 Model 812. Assuming that you have a T1® Power Supply, you can connect the T1® Master Output to F1 Model 812 Input 1 or Input 2. If you need to connect two F1 Model 812s, you can add a second one. For information, we have an article here: T1® to F1 Model 812. Does that help? STRead More...

F1 System to Mixer

The setup is: Two F1 arrays with two bose subwoofers, also one Bose L1 with a subwoofer and ToneMatch, and a Behringer XR18 mixer. This concerns my Main Left and Right channels from the mixer: Would I plug into the two subwoofer first instead of plugging into both array speaker?
