Flexile Array - J-shape not holding

Source Selection

Hi Guys, I was getting quite frustrated with my F1s not sounding the way I expected them to and after a lot of back and forth. Vocals in music and movies were very unintelligible and everything lacked detail. As it turns out, the built-in ADC/DAC on my Behringer X32 was the source of all of my problems. I just switched to a MOTU 828es and it has made a tremendous difference. (I would not recommend the Behringer X32 with the F1s, based on the better audio performance I was getting with my...Read More...
Wavesound I concur that for a home theater/audiophile setup that I would not choose the X32, but then again I also would not choose the F1 812 due to the noise floor. (The L1 MII + B2 does not have the same noise floor so I would use it for home theater/critical listening) I only use the X32 and F1 812 for live sound and as such, I am very happy with both.Read More...

Digital Mixer with Remote Control

ST
Hi Folks? What are you using for a digital mixer with remote capabilities? I'm looking for something that does NOT require that you do it with an iPad? I've read that the SoundCraft U16 will. Anybody have experience with that or something similar? http://www.soundcraft.com/products/ui16 Often mentioned is the QSC TouchMix 16, but from what I can see if you want remote control you need to use an Apple device. Since I don't already have anything Apple, that's an expense I'd prefer to avoid. STRead More...
HI ST Just wondering if you kept the Soundcraft and how did it compare sound quality-wise with the T!? (Tonematch aside, and feature differences aside.) I was needing something with a little more input capability, the ability to change scenes with a footswitch, and easy stereo, but I can live without these missing items from the T1, if, by getting them, I had to give up any of the T1 audio quality. F1 Sub vs MB24

Psicoacústica
Hi, according to the datasheet, the F1 has a SPL Maximum of 130 dB (2 Drivers 10"), compared to MB24 (123 dB - 2 Drives 12"). That difference is correct?, what is the sensitivity (SPL / 1W @ 1m) of F1 Sub? If correct, why is the price so high of the MB24, adding that the F1 is active (including amplifier) and the MB24 is passive + the price of the amplifier. Thanks!.Read More...

F1 812x2 and F1 Subx1 Configuration

Would L1 model 2 work as monitors with F1 system

Hi, some background info. My sons are in a Coldplay tribute band and do gigs in venues for between 200 - 800 people (inside and and outside). I recently upgraded their PA to 2x F1 tops & 2x 812 subs the FOH sound is fantastic, really happy with them. The problem is they now have a stage set up with a stage runway of around 4 meters for the vocalist. I have to say the crowd love it and it makes it more Coldplay. The issue is major feedback with the PA situated in the conventional area...Read More...
Hi dbmurcia, Thank you for joining the Community. This is a wonderful question! Looking at your diagram (thank you!) - it appears the distance from the L1®s to the F1s is about 12 meters. Is that correct? Overall, I think this could work very well. If the distance is 12 meters between the L1®s and the F1s, you'll want to introduce about 40 milliseconds delay between the L1®s and F1s so the sound is synchronized for the people who can hear both. That is: for the people who are in the area...Read More...

in large venues i need more power. the only way to achieve that without phasing issues is one being above the order (bose f1). some people use tripod stand to achieve that good. all i did was order two more bose f1 stands did some cutting and drill two hole to match the M8 thread on top of the f1. i make sure the levels and support are the same as Bose F1 Model 812 being mounted on the F1 Subwoofer.Read More...

Tone Match with FI

I recently purchased the Bose f1 model 812. I'.having trouble using the tone match with a computer running through it. I have a DJ program that I ran with the L1 Model II and tone match, now when I try hooking it up to the F1, I'm not able to get the music to come through the system. Hi Double A DJ, Thank you for joining the Bose Pro Portable PA Community! If you had your DJ program working with the T1® to your L1 Model II, then things should work equally well with your F1 Model 812. Assuming that you have a T1® Power Supply, you can connect the T1® Master Output to F1 Model 812 Input 1 or Input 2. If you need to connect two F1 Model 812s, you can add a second one. For information, we have an article here: T1® to F1 Model 812. Does that help? STRead More...

F1 System to Mixer

The setup is: Two F1 arrays with two bose subwoofers, also one Bose L1 with a subwoofer and ToneMatch, and a Behringer XR18 mixer. This concerns my Main Left and Right channels from the mixer: Would I plug into the two subwoofer first instead of plugging into both array speaker? A big weekend for the F1 system!

The big show was last weekend where I have been perparing for... The F1 performed great! After this weekend I now know I finally have the perfect system for my live sound needs... Making F1 812 array wifi enabled

Just bought an F1 812 array as our backyard speakers. Awesome decision so clear and actually more output then we will ever use. Can hear the thing from a couple of blocks away LOL. So im in the process of modding it to attach a Bose Soundtouch link so we have wifi streaming to the 812. Has anyone done this? have connected the input via cabling to the RCA so the sound side was easy, just want to pick up 5V 1A power off the 812 internal power. I assume there is a 5V DC point on one of the...Read More...
So finished the mod and it works brilliantly! i attached the sound touch on the outside so the i can remove and use elsewhere when required. This was lucky as not much room inside the top and bottom electronics bays. i mcguivered a DC source by getting a simple 240v to 5v 1amp power pack i simply pulled one apart and made up a new housing. I found that there is a high voltage connection point on the circuit board at the top of the speaker so simply used that to pick up power. So net result a...Read More...

Bose f1 + l1 suggestion

Hello ! Can anyone tell me wich setup is louder : 1* L1m2/b2 + 4* F1 stacks... or 2*L1m2/b2 + 2 *F1 stacks ? Looping Monitors into the F1s

Hi, I play in a Pink Floyd 4 piece cover band (Midnight-Floyd.com) and we had very mixed results with the F1s for various reasons. One of the issues we have a lot is feedback because we often loop 2 600w Harbingers between the 812s and the mixer. So the chain is currently: Mixer XAir18 -> Sennheiser In Ear Monitor Transmitter -> Harbinger Monitor -> F1 812 -> F1 Sub. We are all plugged into the mixer (Digital drum set, bass direct in, Kemper profiling amp, keys, mics) The reason...Read More...
More in common, my band is all digital and direct to board as well. I wasn't worried about the low end being filtered out of the monitors due to the crossover between the 812 and the sub, in fact I was hoping it would be. The frequencies that the subs put out are omni directional and can be heard as well behind the speaker as in front. If the monitors don't have to try to put out those low frequencies it's less taxing on them. Ideally they would just reproduce what the 812s are doing but ST...Read More...

A secondary mount for the F1 812

Litesnsirens
I wonder what it would take to get Bose to create a really short version of the mounts that they currently supply. In case it's not clear what I'm talking about, I'm referring to the stand that is housed in the F1 Sub that clicks into the sub and then the 812 sits on top of it. Is there a specific name for that? It would have made this post easier! Anyway my thought is, if Bose made some super short ones, there would be an option to have the 812s sitting almost directly on top of the sub. So...Read More...
I don't think there'd be any phasing issues based on the height of the 812s to the subs. They're crossed over, no competing frequencies. I'm sure there was some logic to the decided height of the system as designed and likely some sonic benefit in most situations. My guess is that it would relate to the angles of the flex array among other things. That said, the 812s can be separately mounted on poles at any height and sound just fine. I'm with you though, I'd love to see some feedback from...Read More...

Adding F1 Sub & 812 Top Cab to two L1 II Systems with Tonematch

Currently my trio which is 1 guitar, Small drum kit & bass + 2 Vocals. We now use the Tonematch mixer for the 2 vocals and 1 guitar and use a small Yamaha mixer with effects and submix the drums & Bass into channel 4 of the T1. We send the master out on the T1 to the analog input of the other L1 System. Each L1 system has a B2 bass bin. We use this pretty much everywhere. When we need to grow the rig for bigger or outdoor performances we have instead send the T1 master out to a...Read More...

Polarity question

Litesnsirens
I'm not overly knowledgable on this particular point but there are polarity switches on the subs. I have read that this is to possibly assist if you aren't mounting the 812s directly on the subs. My question is, would this also help with phase cancellation if say you had 2 subs right beside each other? If the same feature had have been built into the 812s would the same principle apply? And would this have allowed the use of dual setups on each side? As in the crude diagram below... L R...Read More...
Hi Litesnsirens, Nice to see you again. When you have two F1 Subwoofers close together (touching) they will act as one (acoustic coupling). There shouldn't be any appreciable phase cancellation. You want to set the Polarity the same for both. There could issues with the between the pairs of F1 Subwoofers on either side of the stage but if you are setup indoors, this could be masked by reflections. Outdoors, you might do better to put all four F1 Subwoofers together, if you have room in front...Read More...

Balanced or unbalanced cable?

EXODUS MOBILE DJ (NZ)
Hi, I was not sure of what cable to use for the F1 812 and subwoofer inputs. Can I use ordinary unbalanced TS mic cable from my mixer to either the 812 or sub or do I need a balanced one? Are these inputs balanced? I tried both cable types and noticed that the TRS cable produces louder volume. Hi Exodus Mobile DJ (NZ), EXODUS MOBILE DJ (NZ) posted: Hi ST, Thanks for the quick reply. Yes that's what I'm trying to do.
