F1 Model 812 with F1 Subwoofers - having trouble getting my F1s to have the power and punch

I'm having trouble getting my f1s to have the power and punch I need for 3 piece band. My signal is presonus studiolive 16.4.2 AI into 2 f1 subs out to 2 f1 line arrays. The arrays are set to "with sub, line level" and subs are set to "thru". As soon as I get to a level the kick sounds good at the arrays flash red. And the subs "signal indication" light does not come on most of the time. Please help! Edit Subject: Previously "Need help" Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

Speaker Cutting In and Out

I am using two sets of the F1 system. One of the 812 speakers is cutting in and out, even though the signal indicator stays on. Any idea why this is happening? I'm playing soft background music through the system. I have tried using a different cable, as well as using channel 2 instead of channel 1.Read More...
Thanks for your help, ST. Guess I'll have to do tonight's Christmas party with just one 812, haha!Read More...

Bose F1 sub sounding stressed, but not limiting or clipping

My band has the Bose F1 top/sub system and on occasion we seem to be stressing the subs. The grills are rattling and to the ear the woofers sound stressed, but there also is not a whole lot of impact on the dance floor. At the same time, there is no indication of limiting or clipping from the speaker. My thought (and hope) would be that the built in limiter should kick in and/or we should see a clip indication before there was the potential for damage to the speaker. I guess it's possible...Read More...
ya, just back off of it tad. A pair of F1 subs hold its own against a nice 18" sub. But one for one, a good 18" usually outruns it. Use the F1 subs in pairs, and they sound awesome and have a lot more headroom.Read More...

F1 or L1 M2?

I have a pair of S1 Pro speakers and an L1 Compact and really like both for what they are. I am looking to buy a bigger bose system to have on hand for out door use as well as indoor medium sized shows. I am pretty sure one or two F1 speakers is the way to go but want to make sure an L1 M2 is not a better value for my money. According to past threads on this forum, the sound is dispersed further and more evenly by the L1 M2 thank the F1. Other than being louder, more directional and more...Read More...

F1 with or without a compressor?

I have a question regarding my DJ sound system. I've been using a DBX 266XS compressor with my system for many years, and am now wondering how necessary it is to use with my pair of F1 812's and a pair of subs. I do crank it loud at bigger events (school dances, etc.), but is the compressor simply unnecessary overkill with the F1's ability to protect itself? Or is a little bit of compression helpful to protect it?Read More...
I would suggest letting the active limiters in the F1 do the “protection” work... I see no benefits in using the DBX pre F1s. + in general just keep the F1 signal light from being solid red and you are good to go!Read More...

F1 Power Draw?

jdbassentertainment.com
Has anyone run two F1 tops & two F1 subs plus lights off one 15amp breaker? If so what lights did you use and how many of them? I have a few gigs coming up this weekend and would like to hear your responses ASAP! Thanks - JDRead More...
ya, F1 speakers, even though they have more power (double) than the L1 model ii actually only draw half the amount of what a L1 does. Go figure. I suppose more efficient, modern better tech amps in the F1 allow this to be the case...Read More...

Favorite F1 Pictures

This was during sound check on Saturday. We normally set up L1 Model II systems for concerts like this, but we had the F1 stacks in place so we used them instead. Great sound out front. @jdbassentertainment.com I got to try the Shure KSM9 microphone through the F1s. I agree with you, that's a nice microphone. If I needed another high-end microphone, it would be a contender for sure. STRead More...

Speaker recommendation

Hey bose family, wanted your suggestion on what system to get. We're a church in a 100ft x 50ft building with a raised stage(25ft-35ft) along the middle of the long side. We're currently using 2 Model L1 compacts as the main speakers . Sitting at either edge of the stage in front of the musicians, singers, and preacher. While these sound clear they lack in base and there at the limiter often. So were thinking of upgrading and using the compacts as monitors for them. What do you suggest?Read More...

F1 Loss of Highs

Hey Guys- dropping in on this forum to get some thoughts on a peculiar problem we're having. We recently purchased a used F1 system... bought it through a reputable local dealer and they were in great shape. They sounded amazing after the install, but recently I've noticed a significant drop in high frequencies in one of the F1 uppers. Have any of you experienced a similar issue, or have any ideas on the cause?Read More...
Just curoious if you are running in the straight position on the array? I ask because I notice a big differnce in the highs when I use any of the positions with the top or bottom of the array pushed inward.Read More...

Best vocal mics with the F1s for live sound?

I would like to update you all on my vocal mic results since it has been a while. I have parted with all the Heil mics, EV 767a and Beta 87a and have standardized my vocal mic line up with the Beta 58a and the KSM9. I put the other mics through their paces up against the 58a and KSM9 and they all fell short. I have been using these two Shure mics for all kinds of acts and in all types of situations. They both have great feedback rejection and sound great! The Beta 58a is my go to mics for...Read More...

ToneMatch Mixer for F1 Model 812

ok, I just bought a f1 812 system and was wondering why I need a tone match mixer since there is no tonematch port.... would I be better off just getting a Yamaha analog mixer. why would I want a t4 or t8? Edit Subject. Previously "help??"Read More...
hi, thanks for the reply. I am a solo musician playing background music for small and medium sized venues, such as restaurants and coffee houses. I use a single channel wireless from my guitar (equipped with an lr baggs lyric mic) to my bose f1. I would like to try adding some fx to my performances, and have no real need to mix anything since the f1 and 812 are cabled together. I know at some point I might could use an extra input, but basically I am looking for the fx. the tonematch does...Read More...

Creating Array By Stacking F1s

I am curious if stacking the F1s like they are in the video produces a better sound since it becomes a bigger array? Would placing the two F1s side-by-side be better? F1s StackedRead More...
Yes, I would raise the two F1 tops up to just above the grill of the lower F1 tops. This will give you optimal sound/volume while using your four F1 stacks. If you run it in any other configuration you would most likely encounter some frequency cancellation, which would basically defeats the purpose of adding more speaker cabinets. As far as angling the far sides outward... if you need wider coverage then do so, otherwise I would keep them pointed straight forward. On a side note to when...Read More...

Connecting 4 F1 Stacks

What is the optimal way to connect two F1 systems together? I have tried multiple routes but it seems like the second F1 Model 812 always clips due to a hot input signal. My usual setup is a Pioneer DDJSZ2 to a Mackie ProFX12. I have tried Model 812 to F1 sub to second 812 to second F1 sub. I have also tried F1 sub to second F1 sub and 812 to second 812 using a driverack. Would a XLR splitter for the 812s solve the problem of the signal being too hot for the second pair?Read More...
Hi djmaverick, The F1 Subwoofer volume control does not affect the F1 Subwoofer LINE OUTs. Like this: " Model 812 to F1 sub to second 812 to second F1 sub " and turn down the volume on the second F1 Model 812 so it doesn't clip. OR Run two outputs from the Mackie mixer as I described above. STRead More...

Pair of F1 812's with subs from T1 Tonematch

Greetings , I am seeking advice on connectivity of the F1's from my Tonematch. I am running a single T1 to my L1 Model II with B1 behind my band as a monitor. I am looking for the best way to get my T1 signal to both F1's. I have tried it from my master out to the first 812 , 812 to my first sub , first sub to my second 812 and then to my second sub. Is there any better way to make all of this work together ? Since my F1's are the FOH i need the reverb to come through so I guess using the...Read More...

Daisy Chain F1's

I find this works best for my rig. Mixer OUT to each F1 Sub in then out to your tops blend in desired amount of volume from the sub to match the tops (at a low volume usually between 0 and 1) I then use the other output from first F1 sub to INPUT of second F1 sub and so on and so on for each additional sub.Read More...

Sound quality of single F1 vs S1 pro

I'm looking for thoughts/opinions on how a single F1 would compare I sound quality to an S1 Pro. I understand many of the differences/pros and cons of each speaker and a lot of boils down to the needs of the venue but I'm interested in knowing if I would be better off using one F1 as FOH along with an S1 as a monitor or using 2 S1 speakers. Would sound QUALITY be comparable? This application would be for solo acoustic guitar and vocalist and possible a second acoustic guitar and vocalist at...Read More...
Great points made and based a number of gigs this year, Chet 3 is right on form my experience with my band. When I play indoors, 2 S1s on poles slightly behind us and off to the side work, great as FOH/Monitor and in some venues I have been asked to turn down . When outside, the S1s are used as monitors and the F1s as FOH.Read More...

Laying the Bose F1 Subwoofer on its side

DJ8X
I recently ran into an issue where I was using only 1 Bose F1 Subwoofer. I wanted to put it under the table but it was slightly too tall. I ended up laying it on its side so that it can fit under the table. From Bose perspective, was this safe to do? I don't know how the components in the cab are aligned or set up. I don't know how important vertical set-up is to those components. Any insight on this will be helpful. I posted a while back about stacking 2 Bose F1 Subwoofers laying on the...Read More...
Hi DJ8X, It's fine to operate the F1 Subwoofer on its side. Consider using a mat between the F1 Subwoofer and the floor so the F1 Subwoofer doesn't move around because of the vibration. STRead More...

Can F1 812 deliver a consistent SPL of Vertical Coverage for Speech Application

The dimension of my venue (L x W x H) is 50 x 20 x 10 feet, and that of the stage (L x W) is 10 x 20 feet for Live Band House of Worship (acoustic guitar, electric bass, acoustic drums, keyboard, 4 vocals) and Speech. Regarding the vertical converge of TWO F1 812 without Sub, I am not worried about the performance in live band scenario, but I am still worried about that in Speech scenario. Therefore, I worked out a section diagram of the case for your reference. If I want these F1 812...Read More...

812 Dent Removal

Hey - the F1 Array arrived today, packed very badly. The most of the individual grills have been pushed in a little. No sharp dents - they're now just concave instead of convex. Are they removable? I feel like I could gently pop them out if they were off the box. I've you've got a good technique I'd appreciate the advice. Cheers.Read More...

Is F1 Sub really necessary for my venue

The dimension of my venue (L x W x H) is 60 x 23 x 11 feet, and that of the stage (L x W) is 11 x 23 feet for Live Band House of Worship (acoustic guitar, electric bass, acoustic drums, keyboard, 4 vocals). Recently, I checked with vendor about F1 812 implementation, they recommended us to add F1 812 top without sub. Therefore, I doubted if F1 812 sub is really important in my venue for live band application. Does F1 812 top without sub enable to deliver deep enough bass? Do you have any ...Read More...
My opinion on this is, it depends. The 812s do an amazing job on handling the low end with the eq in full range mode. Very impressive. I own a pair of the subs as well but I’ve done gigs and just left the subs at home for smaller venues or quieter gigs. I also use only the 812s for rehearsal. It’s hard to sort of visualize the size of a room just from dimensions but my guess is that you could get away with a pair of 812s in a room that size. It’s nice to have the extra bit of headroom that...Read More...

Is Vertical Dispersion of F1 812 40° V (C-position)

It doesn't matter. Regarding the vertical dispersion, I just want to highlight that the image looks misleading. If it is 40 degree, the coverage line specially for C should be narrow instead of wide.Read More...
