F1 812 clipping

hi, we we are a 5 piece band, going through an Allen and Heath mix wizard 3 to two F1 subs then out of subs to two F1 812s. We are getting a lot of clipping (red light) on the 812s during our performance. The mixer's mains and channel faders are set to unity gain. The 812s are set to "with sub" and the subs are set to full range. The volumes of all speakers are around the 1 o'clock mark. can anyone shed any light on how to address this clipping issue. it appears to happen most when more than...Read More...

F1 Subwoofer Power Issues

ST, I have Another question on my f1 subwoofer. I have 3 of them currently. 1 operates fine all the time, the second will not power on after the 3rd use. And the the 3rd f1 subwoofer powers on as normal then about 30 -60 seconds after it will start a blinking revolution of the the blue, amber and green leds. The sub that wont power on is scheduled for pickup to head to bose next week. The 3rd with the lights is a mystery to me. I cannot find any documentation on what the cause is or how to...Read More...
Hi Glittle1234, I'm sorry, no new insights from me on the odd behaviour with the lights. Since you're already talking to Bose Support, it's best to take this up with them. Thanks, STRead More...

F1 Sub Bag

Anyone else (beside me ) just cut off that pesky bottom flap? It seems to work just fine protection-wise without it,and the minutes gained from trying to make it zip will ,over the long run,add a couple of days to my life!Read More...
They provide good protection, but they are a pain in the butt. I've already had a couple of the the zipper tabs break since they're always on the ground in the upright position, and it's a pain to keep flipping them back and forth to secure. I'd prefer just a well made slip cover with no bottom like every other cover. Plus the sub covers are still very tight on mine and are difficult to get on without catching the zippers. If they weren't so pricey, I might consider cutting off the flaps!Read More...

Flexibility!

Hello all....Im lovin the F1 top/S1 combination: Master out from T1 to input of F1 F1 out to S1 behind me on a pole at head height I do a lot of senior entertaining, and for 99% of the time ,the S1 alone is perfect. If a little more volume, and or bass is needed,I can add the F1 in front of me,on the floor, with the top array pulled back.S1 stays behind me as a monitor.(just gotta remember to set the F1 to "full range") if anything bigger is needed--I can add the F1 sub,(flip the F1 to "with...Read More...

F1 Subs

I have three F1 Subs connected together now. How much more bass to the floor could i possible get if i add a 4th sub in the chain. And im using a Denon Prime X1800 Club Mixer with a very hot signal.Read More...
Hi DJ Aziz Masudi, You'll hear a difference, perhaps a little less than you hear going from two to three. By all means try it. I think you'll end up using either two or four F1 Subwoofers depending on the size of the gig. STRead More...

Wireless headset mic for the L1 compact

Morning all - I hope everyone is well. I am hoping for some guidance from people more knowledgeable than I am :-) My wife runs a child entertainment business and uses an L1 Compact for the music. It is an iPod connected to the 1/8 inch line input that provides the music. Her classes are steadily growing and now needs to use a headset mic to be heard. I am having trouble finding a simple solution to this. Am I going mad? Most of the products that have a 2.4Hz headset and receiver that I can...Read More...

QSC K and KW series have an option for "thru" (pre-volume) or mix. My Fishman gear has that as well. (Yamaha varies a bit by series.) A typical use for the "Thru" output would be XLR from mixer to 812 #1 and XLR from 812 #1 to 812 #2. Since the output is volume dependent, will setting volume on both units at the +0 position yield equal volume in this configuration?? I would have much preferred the option to mix or send at least a single input to "Thru". Just got F1 system unboxed and don't...Read More...

Connecting F1's to Tonematch for audio device usage

Equipment: Bose f1 system (2 tops, 2 subs) T1 Tonematch T1 Power Supply Iphone/Macbook pro Hi Guys! Nice to be back! I've recently been asked if I could set up the F1's for a wedding party of about 150 people. I've never done this before but I said I would regardless. I've seen and...Read More...
Hi Kevin, Easy fix! It's okay - but you lose the ability to use the Master Volume control on the T1®, so do what works best for you. It's all up to you. It may not be necessary to have the output volumes equal. Not all rooms or settings are symetrical. Any time Kevin. STRead More...

I use it b/c the F1 subs tend to require a very hot signal, and even at Max volume from my mixer, and well into clipping on mixer, my F1s still have room to breathe, so I use it to add volume.Read More...

getting the right sound

Hi, I have an L1 system and a recently bought pair of f1812s with subs. I play live on a Yamaha EL900 Synth/organ and play bass on touch sense pedalboard. I use a live drummer (kick & Snare miked) I use an SM58 for my vocals and everything is channeled through a Mackie analog desk. I feel I should be getting a deep tight bass from the organ and kick drum but this is not the case. The green light on the back of the subs barely lights up and the 812s function as they should. I wire...Read More...
Hi Angus, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. It sounds like you need to raise the output from the Mackie desk. Things to try: Turn up the outputs on the Mackie desk until the outputs are just below clipping If there is a MIC/LINE switch on the back, set it to MIC. Does that help? If not, try routing the output of the Mackie desk to the F1 812 inputs, and take the F1 812 Line Outs to the F1 Subwoofers. Please let us know if that helps. Thanks, STRead More...

F1 Subs

This weekend I ran a church fair I was using 4 812 F1 and matching 4 F1 subs. Well the 1st thing happen was when I turn on my speakers everything was look good no noise (hum), next I turn on my computer like always do to run some music on the PA to test my sound. I didn't have any bass, so I check the bass sub everything was on tops working fine, just didn't have any gain on my subs. I usually run the gain at 3/4, so I test them by bring my phone to the stage and plugging in to the back with...Read More...
Hi Russ, Please check your F1 Subwoofers today. Are they working okay (in a new location)? If so, the problem had something to do with the venue. When you were testing, did you use a stereo source from your phone? That could have caused the problem you described. Note: The 1/4 inch (6mm) inputs on the F1 Subwoofer and F1 Model 812 are balanced mono inputs. If you run a stereo signal into one of the Combo jacks on the F1 Subwoofer you may get a very low output or sound that is missing most of...Read More...

Distorted 1x12" Combo Amp Direct Into F1?

Hello, I'm interested in purchasing a F1 Model 812 and I wanted to know if it is possible to run my Blackstar HT40 1x12" combo direct into the F1? When I play live I can use the Emulated Output on the back of the amp and run the amp direct into the house PA system/board. However most of the time my amp is mic'd up by the sound guy and it's put through the house PA that way...mixed at the board. Running it direct through the emulated out direct in is ideal for me in this application because I...Read More...
Hi Funboy, I've set up an F1 Model 812 on a stand facing diagonally from one corner of the room to the opposite corner - the one farthest away. Setting it up this worked fine. The F1 Model 812 wasn't deep in the corner, but it was at the corner described by the edge of the stage where it met the wall and a foot or two back. I was near the front of the stage and I was able to hear it well enough for monitoring. I don't think anyone at Bose is going to promise that it will sound as good...Read More...

Great sound for the U.S. Mint!

jdbassentertainment.com
We had the great honor of providing sound for the U.S. Mint for the new Apostle Islands quarter! We used two 812 tops in full range and just the subs as glorified speaker stands! We did this because of the small foot print and lack of tripping hazard. There was easily 500 people packed in the convention hall. For a mic system we used a wireless Shure QLXD in the VHF band with the Beta 58a Transmitter and active directional antennas... It sounded clean and crisp all the way in the back!Read More...
