Can't figure out best sound settings

I've had my L1 system for over a year now and STILL can't figure out what the best settings for it are. I am a solo act (singer) using backing tracks played on a CD/Karaoke player that is run through a small Behringer mixing board. My Sennheiser ew135G3 Evolution G3 100 Series UHF Handheld Wireless Mic also runs through the mixing board (I use an effects processor for my mic also that goes into the board). Right now I plug the board directly into the Bose UnBal Insert with just 2 regular...Read More...
Hi Songgoddess, Welcome to the forum! Which L1 system are you using? If this is the L1 Model I or L1 Classic, do not connect your mixer to the "UnBal Insert" connection; this jack is for external effects processors. Instead, connect the mixer to the "1/4" Line UnBal" jack. This black jack is a hybrid jack that accepts 1/4" or XLR plugs. If you are using the Bose T1 ToneMatch Mixer, see the response below. Since you are using a separate mixing board, you can adjust the EQ, gain, and volume...Read More...

T1 Knocking Sound on channel 2

Hi, I am having a problem with channel 2 on my T1. I haven't used it in a long while. I am putting my vocal mic on 1, my guitar on 3 and my backing tracks on 4. So now i wanted to put a Zune with background music on channel 2 and it is giving me a constant knocking sound through the music. Like someone knocking on a door. It is very annoying. Can u please tell me if this has happened before to anyone? I appreciate ur help.Read More...
Hi Zepp, If you want, you can double-check to make sure there are no effects active on channel 2 that might be causing this somehow. Otherwise, please give us a call when you have your Tonematch with you and we'll be happy to assist you further. Thanks,Read More...

No Sound

During gig, using building power, L1 PS1 classic (2004) lost sound without losing power. Mic.s direct into inputs, no effects. "Clip" light showed preamp was working but no output. Band heard some popping before loss of sound(I'm the drummer singer and was not in a position to hear). Power light stayed on. Turned off and rested system. Turned on and sound came back on only to fail again after 20-30 minutes. Changed fuse for the heck of it (original fuse has opaque brown paper under glass.Read More...
Dear the mobilesct, Let me first welcome you to the forum, and thank you for your post (despite the nature of your inquiry!) Sorry to hear you are having this issue. It sounds to me, because it has started working again, that the issue was the power at the particular venue you were playing. Changing fuses is always recommended, and the you can use either type of fuse (with the paper or without). But I wouldn't recommend a repair/service at this time simply because the issue resolved itself...Read More...

Using digital mixer with tone match and L1 model ii

I have 5 singers in the band. Currently I am putting all 5 plus some (3 to 5 more mics)ancillary mics into a Yamaha mixer (digital not powered) and into the tone match via two groups (into inputs 1 and 2). Seems to work fine. Is there anything i can do to maximize the output.. or minimize feedback issues? We are setting the tower behind us 10 feet back ....but since there are 5 vocalist with open mics... we get some feedback issues. There is more room on the main volume and channel volume...Read More...

Model 2 power fault?

tpryde3
Our model 2 has recently quit working (5 years of constant touring). After turning it on, it begins a rythmic popping and the power light turns red. If I unplug the B1 it stil doesn't work, but the red light doesn't turn on, and when we plug it back in, it begins again. For anyone reading this...do not interpret this as a problem with the system's durability. We play 4-6 events a month on the road with regular rehearsals 3-4 times a week. This has been nearly constant for the last five...Read More...

Neumann 104 on L1 model II with Tonematch

I tried to connect a new Neumann KMS104 Plus microphone to the system but it does not work (48V on). Checked the mic and it works on a karaoke mixer. I wonder if this type on condenser mic does work on this Bose system.Read More...
Hello AY, Welcome to the forum! I can help you out with this. Now depending on what system you have will depend on mic working or not. The L1 compact system does not have phantom power and would need and external phantom power box. The L1 Classic and L1 model 1 systems phantom power is 24v. With these systems you would need a phantom power box since that mic is looking for 48V. The T1 Tonematch on the other hand has 48v phantom power and should work with the KMS104 mic. Also instead of the...Read More...

Plz Help my 5 piece country band fig out the best setup

This is my first post here... so go easy on me.... lol So here's the deal (as best I can sum it up) I'm the lead singer in my high energy country band. I play acoustic guitar as well and we do a large mix of Original songs (I've recently finished my 2nd full length album down in Nashville and have just had success w/ cracking the Top 80 w/ the first release from the new album), Timeless classic country, "some" Top 40 country, southern/classic rock, a lil bluegrass, etc... I also do solo gigs...Read More...
Hi James, It is very simple to run the T1 in dual mono. You would connect the T1 to your first L1 mII system using the Tonematch cable (the normal way). Then to connect the second system, use a 1/4" cable from the Master Out on the T1 into the analog input on the base of your second L1 mII. Then if you play some sound through it, you can adjust the trim knob on the second system until the volume levels are about equal. As far as dual mono, the 20 ft rule is recommended regardless of whether...Read More...

Adding more volume with a regular speaker

Can I add more volume for an outside venue I'm DJing by connecting a regular speaker to the master output on the T1?Read More...
Dear Jazzygirl, Thank you for the question! Yes, you are able to take the output from the T1's master section and run it to a powered speaker of some sort. You can't just run it to a passive speaker and have it work. That output is not a "powered" output. You could also take that output and run it to an amplifier first, then to a passive speaker. I hope this helps! Have a great day! Eric-at-BoseRead More...

MIC FEEDBACK

Hi, I am using BOSE L1 MODEL II with T1 AUDIO ENGNE and 2 subs. Mics: shure sm58 on channel 1 and 2 (TONEMATCH ENGINE:SHURE SM58, COMPRESSOR: medium), electric guitar on channel 3, mp 3 player on 4/5 (TONEMATCH ENGINE: DJ) for my backing track. I set my mic 8 feet away from the system. This is my problem: I am a one man band playing ballroom dance music. This is the reason that I have to increase the volume of my backing tracks specially the bass punch in order to connect my music with...Read More...
Thanks for the tips! But my T1 AUDIO ENGINE just died today after tweaking (waiting for Guitar Center replacement). If ever I am not comfortable with the L1 SYSTEM at my back because it's to loud for me when I play dance backing tracks, I will try this set just like a regular system. Two L1 at my sides, and one monitor (aux out) (T1 compact at my back with volume just right for my ears. I don't know if this set up will work. But it comes to my mind that this would be my last option if I...Read More...

ToneMatch?

hello, will this unit help stop the feedback / distortion from the microphone?Read More...
Hello June, Welcome to the L1 forum, and thanks for your post! The Tonematch Engine has several features on it that can help eliminate feedback. Distortion usually happens when a signal is being overdriven, and the Tonematch has trim and level adjustments to control that as well. For more info on addressing mic feedback, feel free to check out this article: Microphone Feedback Let us know if you have any more questions.Read More...

ToneMatch - only one channel?

Hi. I'm new to this so apologies in advance if the answer to this is blindingly obvious. I have just acquired a L1 Model 2, 2 x B1 speakers and a T1. Got it all set up, plugged my bass guitar into Channel 1 on the T1, played with the pre-sets, got it set up, sounded fabulous! I plugged a mic into Channel 2, found the pre-set, got that set up, also sounded brilliant, but there was no sound from the bass. No, it wasn't muted and I hadn't altered the volume!! Unplug the mic and the bass works...Read More...
Dear Supertwig, Let me first welcome you to the L1 forum, and thank you for your question! Sorry to hear you are having these issues, it is certainly a strange one, one that I haven't quite come across. The first thing that I would want you to check is to make sure you are plugging your bass into the correct input. On the back of the T1 under channel one, there is a quarter inch output labeled "pre-out". I want to make sure that you are not plugging anything thing in there. You have to use...Read More...

Compact t1 and Senheizer e835

Hi everyone I can't find a preset for my Senheizer e835 on the t1.. Is there any better other mic to used with the compact+t1 at this prized range? Thanks!!Read More...
Dear Tibustudios, Let me start by welcoming you to the L1 forum, and thank you for your question! The T1 will never have every single preset for every mic/instrument out there, but that is okay! You don't have to dial in the preset for your particular device, it is just a starting point. You can try the Sennheiser E855, for example, or even try a Shure SM58. If you have not done so yet, you can try scrolling through all of the microphone presets to see if there is one you like the best. Then...Read More...

T1 Prest for the Trance Amulet guitar pickup system

I was wondering if anyone including the engineers at Bose have any recomendation on which T1 preset to use for the Trance Amulet acoustic guitar pickup that I have had installed in My Huss & Dalton Dreadnaught guitar. I have tried the generic ones on the T1 and quite a few of the others as well. Hopefully some one that is actuallt using the system would have an answer. Thank you in advance.Read More...
Hello rcp, Since the T1 doesn't have a preset for that guitar or pickup the recommendation would be to go with a like guitar preset(Guild D25/Martin D28)or to go with a pick up system and style of guitar that is simpler(Taylor Dreadnought fing. or strummed). Taylor guitars have a transducer style pickup system. Once the preset you select is to your liking or close to it you could adjust the tone further by adjusting the Zeq. Hope this helps and any other questions feel free to give us a...Read More...

Stereo L1 operation with mono sax/stereo fx

Hi I'm wondering if a sax going dual mono through two L1m 2's would encounter the problems of the phasing issues normally encountered with this approach, if I use an outboard STEREO fx unit on the sax, running the fx in stereo. My thinking is that this should negate the possible issues normally associated with running a mono instrument in dual mono. What does Bose think about this? I don't have all the equipment yet to try it for myself.Read More...
Hello brysava, To answer your question in this type of situation the L1 systems should be run at least 10 to 15 feet apart to help out with the phase cancellation. Even though the effects are stereo the source is still mono. You might get a little phase cancellation in the middle with this setup depending on the situation. Hope this helps. Any further help please call us at L1 support. Have a great day,Read More...

Best L1 system for recording studio setup?
