Static, white noise

I am getting white noise static coming from the vocal channel 2 of my bose T1 mixer. Guitar running into channel 1 is clean. Not sure if I have a gain problem or what. My vocal signal chain is as follows. Microphone TC Helicon MP 76 into Presonus Tube channel strip to TC helicon Play Acoustic into T1 Tonematch Mixer to Bose L1 Compact. I'm running a noise gate on channel 2 which seems to help some. Any thoughts on how to remedy the problem.Read More...

Connecting External Speakers to L1 Model ll

I use the L1 Model ll with subwoofer to support a four-person band in small to medium-size venues, along with a Behringer non-powered mixer. Has worked fine. I'll shortly be playing a room with its own sound system. As I prefer "the devil I know", I was wondering if/how I can connect the house "mains" to the L1...using the house mains as additional external speakers. Possible? I connect the L1 to the Behringer using a y-adapter cable...connecting the single 1/4" plug to the L1 and the double...Read More...

Hi Derek, Using stereo headphones, you should be able to turn up the PHONES volume control and hear the same stereo output you get from the main outputs. Is this not working for you? ST Headphone Output The headphone output is on the right side of the ToneMatch mixer. It is compatible with stereo headphones using a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) tip-ring-sleeve, stereo jack. On the face of the ToneMatch mixer, is the PHONES volume control. It is beside the headphone output. This controls the volume you...Read More...

Bose F1 sub sounding stressed, but not limiting or clipping

My band has the Bose F1 top/sub system and on occasion we seem to be stressing the subs. The grills are rattling and to the ear the woofers sound stressed, but there also is not a whole lot of impact on the dance floor. At the same time, there is no indication of limiting or clipping from the speaker. My thought (and hope) would be that the built in limiter should kick in and/or we should see a clip indication before there was the potential for damage to the speaker. I guess it's possible...Read More...
Hi PatJonCook, Thanks for providing all that detail. Yes, you will have to turn up the output from the Behringer mixer. And there should be plenty of room to do that before clipping. Great. Again, great. All good. I was looking for anything that might be diminishing the performance, and this all sounds fine. So turn down the volume on the F1 Subwoofer and make up for it by increasing the signal from the mixer. I looked at the output specifications of your mixer before suggesting that you...Read More...

Hi Mike Cowan, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Great question. Do the gain staging (set the trim) first as shown below. You can set the ToneMatch Preset after you set the trim control. Use this ToneMatch Preset. OR OR Use the one that sounds best to you, then fine tune with zEQ. You probably don't need to use the ParaEQ. Does that help? STRead More...

Hello Bryant Urban. Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. The ToneMatch (ethernet) cable works with the L1 Model 1S and L1 Model II systems to provide power to the T4S. The L1 Compact isn't compatible with the ToneMatch cable. Do not use a 1/4" Y cable with your L1 Compact. It won't work. You will need a ToneMatch® Power Supply to use the T4S with an L1 Compact. The setup for you T4S and an L1 Compact is the same as it is with a T1. Connect FROM the T4S Right Output...Read More...

Speaker recommendation

Hey bose family, wanted your suggestion on what system to get. We're a church in a 100ft x 50ft building with a raised stage(25ft-35ft) along the middle of the long side. We're currently using 2 Model L1 compacts as the main speakers . Sitting at either edge of the stage in front of the musicians, singers, and preacher. While these sound clear they lack in base and there at the limiter often. So were thinking of upgrading and using the compacts as monitors for them. What do you suggest?Read More...

L1 II input jack becoming loose and intermitant

I have (2) L1 II and the the input jacks are becoming loose, intermittent and noisey. The plastic nut on the 1/2 TRS isolating jacks are beginning strip. I am also concerned that the solder connections to the circuit boards below may be becoming suspect on both units. With at least one of the units when intermittent there is a bad 60Hz hum so I am thinking the shield connection may be opening up. Jiggling the input cable at the input jack will generally "fix" it temporarily. The input TRS...Read More...

L1 MII resets (loses signal/sound/audio)

I have been battling this issue for several years, and have done everything I could do, but the issue pops up once in a while. At first, I thought I had a bad L1, so I sent it in, but that made no difference. It only happens when: - I am running on a 15 amp (not 20) circuit and if the voltage is not a perfect 120, so let's say 105ish. -I combine a pair of F1 subs on the same circuit. -Running near max capability on everything, including L1s (L1s flickering red on hard hits) Anyhow, on to the...Read More...
So the ever occurring problem showed again last night. The L1s will just reset (power light just stays on), but the L1 loses signal. F1 subs keep playing regardless of volume or how hard I drive them, even while limiting. The only solution was to turn down the F1 subs super low, or to turn the L1 lower, neither of which ideal. It was super embarrassing having people come over to tell me one of the speakers keeps cutting in and out. Funny thing is I didn't even have the F1s running that hard.Read More...

Feedback in tight quarters

roberttee
Hi. I have an acoustic duo (2 acoustic guitars, two mics) and we use the Bose L1 Compact with the Tonematch mixer. When we are in a large space or outdoors, the system sounds fantastic. But when we are in smaller bars with lots of chatter, I am getting feedback, even when I move our mics to the side. I bought my unit used, so I can't say for sure how the previous owner had it set up, and I'm no expert on EQ settings. I was under the impression that we could stand almost right in front of the...Read More...

L1 compact buzzing

I have a Bose L1 compact. A while ago, it started making a hum or buzz when I turn the volume up. It's very distracting and it seems to be getting worse. I don't know what to do about it.
