Hints for Getting Prompt, Targeted Answers from Bose

Ken-at-Bose
Use descriptive words in the title of your request: for example, "Help with ToneMatch presets". Tell us which model L1 system you are using: Classic, Model I, Model II, Compact, PackLite. Supplying the first six digits of your serial number will allow us to identify the model if you're unsure. Tell us as much detail about the situation: what kind of venue, what kind of set up on stage, etc.Read More...

Connecting Tone Match 8 to L1 Compact via xlr

Hello, When I connect my ToneMatch 8 ch with my L1 Compact via xlr to xlr, I get a loud hiss. When I go mono 1/4" to xlr via transformer connection, the hiss subsides 90%. (still a little line noise, but not distracting). Is there a reason the xlr out to xlr in would be so noisy? Thank you for your time!Read More...
Hi Phil Miligan Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community, and thanks for the great question. The L1 Compact XLR input is for microphones (only). There is a built-in ToneMatch Preset for microphones that is not appropriate for full-range signals like a mixer output. The input sensitivity is too high for a line-level source like the T8S output. You can keep using the 1/4" to XLR conversion - but you don't have to. You don't need a matching transformer for this connection. You can use the...Read More...

Connecting external nonpowered speakers to the T1 Tonematch

I am a Karaoke Host and I own an L1, BII system and I am extremely happy with it. I do, however, have one of my venues which needs some additional volume and I want to connect 2 BEHRINGER B215XL, NON POWERED speakers into my L1 system! Is it possible and how do I do it? George LundyRead More...
Hi George, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. It's great to hear you are happy with your L1 Model II with T1 and B2 bass module. As you know, the L1 system is integrated - meaning all the components are engineered to work together. There are no outputs that will drive third-party passive loudspeakers. You will need a power amplifier to drive the Behringer B215XL loudspeakers. You should be able to connect the T1 Master Output 1/4 inch Tip-Ring-Sleeve output to the...Read More...

LI Model II/T8S - Noise with preamp

I am using a Fishman Platinum Pro EQ between my guitar and T8S. This preamp is silent with my other mixer and PA, but when used with the T8s and L1, there is low level white noise. The Platinum pro has a post EQ XLR output: XLR D.I. Output: Level (post EQ): 0 dB relative to input Output Impedance: 600 Ohms I am plugging in to channel 1 or channel 2 of the T8S. I believe I have gain and volume set correctly on the platinum pro. The Platinum Pro has an unbalanced 1/4 out that is quieter, but...Read More...

T8S Mixer Reverb

I recently purchased a T8S . I have a T1...which was always great... and I needed more channels. I am not able to get global reverb of any kind...no matter what the setting. It simply doesn't work. The only way to get any channel reverb to to turn it up almost all the way...and then it just sounds bad. What can I do to get decent reverb? The T1 reverb was great. Why not just restore the T1 reverb in the T8S ? I have read online about other people having problems like this. I am very...Read More...

LI Model II - T8S Volume level problems with master outputs

I am using the T8s. We plan to use two powered speakers out front and place the L1 behind us at our next show. A T1 ToneMatch mixer is connected to the T8S via the channel 9 input on the T8S. Channels 1-8 on the T8s are panned to the center. I am using a balanced 1/4 TRS cable from the right master output channel (mono) to the L1 base. Tonight in practice we also connected the left XLR master output to a powered speaker (Mackie SRM-450). The volume level to the L1 was as usual and fine.Read More...

S1 Pro speaker buzz

I'm running a Yamaha Psr S950 keyboard to 2 new S1 Pros. The speakers make a loud buzz when on battery power. When I use AC power, the buzz is at a minimum. I've tried new patch cables, hooking up the speakers and keyboard to one outlet. It is driving me crazy. Should I use balanced or unbalanced cables? Is it a battery issue?Read More...

Sub woofer for my L1 Compact and T1 Tonematch

I need more base in large open areas for my solo acts and open-mic nights. Is there any way to plug in a Sub woofer into my L1 Compact with T1 Tonematch? If so how and what sub woofer to you recommend?Read More...
Hi Danny S, If you need more bass in large open areas, Bose has other products that may be better suited to that than your L1 Compact. These are L1 Model 1S, L1 Model II, and F1 Model 812. Rather than adding a third-party subwoofer, you might consider adding an F1 Model 812 or replacing the L1 Compact with an L1 Model 1S or L1 Model II. Bose doesn't have a standalone powered subwoofer product, and we can't recommend a specific third-party unit. If you want to connect a third-party subwoofer,...Read More...

T4s USB-A player issues...

I have previously posted 'apparently' in the general forums before discovering this one. That aside, I have very recently purchased a T4s as an upgrade to my 3 year old T1. 50% of my reasoning for the upgrade was because of the T4s in-built USB-A Playback. It took me a while to work out what the hell was going on which I can now compress into this... Some WAV files fail, with the T4s reporting "File Not Playable (-10)" However the files it errors play perfectly on a multitude of other...Read More...
There is another issue with regard to the T4s USB-A Player. OK so maybe I'm the only person on the planet doing things this way... On the T1, I have a microphone on channel 1, another microphone on channel 2 and backing track into channel 4. With channel 1 to 4 routed to AUX-OUT this is then my Fold-Back feed. It feeds me what I need/want at Pre-Master. Hence, my monitor is the true level mix with or without FX. This makes it easy to keep things balanced. The Master then adjusts the total PA...Read More...

Static on line speaker L1 compact

Hello, I have a L1 compact and started to hear some static noise in the line speaker, even when the volume is completely down and nothing connected I can hear it. As I increase the volume the static also increases but only on the line speaker, on the base static is almost none. It is not very noticable until half the volume. Is there something I can do? I am in Mexico ;)Read More...
Hi Alonsohfa, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Is this new, or is it possible it was there before but you didn't notice it. It is normal to hear some static noise like this if you are very close to the top speaker array. It will not be audible from the power stand because these frequencies are not in the low-frequency range. Thank you for the recording. This tells us the frequency range, but not the loudness. If you hear this within a meter, this might be...Read More...

Wireless mic feedback

Having issues with our 2 L1 model 2 Pa speakers in an outdoor amphitheater setting and our Pastor's audio technica wireless over ear mics with feedback. Hi Gibby, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Thank you for including the picture. That was helpful. Are there two microphones? Please give us a link to the owners manual or specifications for the microphone(s). It sounds like the microphones are omnidirectional, and that could be contributing to the problem. Please refer to the owners manual for the microphone(s) to ensure they are positioned correctly (as close as possible to the Pastor's mouth). You may have to...Read More...

Bose Support Availability and T4S canvas bag

Vocalist with Big Band

Hi - We have an L1 M2 with a B2 and the ToneMatch with 4 channels. The band consists of 5 tpt, 4 tbn, 6-7 sax, bass, drums, piano and vocalist. The only thing that is usually miked is the vocalist. Our last gig we used the L1 for the piano, too, which worked very well, I am not sure if we will continue with that setup or not. We perform in a wide range of spaces, generally either a large room, such as an activity room in a retirement home, or outside with an audience of 100-200 people. We...Read More...
Hi TMcCray, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Thanks for all the great information. That's extremely helpful. The L1 system should sound clear without distortion or cracking. If it sounds distorted or you hear cracking, there's usually an issue with the gain staging or the sound source. When you do the gain staging, the vocalist must use close-microphone technique, and sing at the loudest volume she will hit when performing. There are lots of videos on the web,...Read More...

L1s hookup with S1

Sorry if this has been asked and answered. I use an L1 S with a yamaha mixer. I would like to add an S1 as an additional speaker to add music to a smaller non connected area. Hi Rockbottom, Do you have any stereo inputs? If so, please describe what you are connecting to these inputs. If not, keep everything panned LEFT and connect like this (below). You told us "I would like to add an S1 as an additional speaker to add music to a smaller non connected area." You can control the relative volumes by using the S1 Pro volume control to turn up the S1 Pro to the desired level in the smaller non connected area. STRead More...

S1 Pro - external mixer on channel 3 input ?

Hello there, my daughter bought a Bose s1 and is very very pleased with it, she sings and play the guitar. She would like to add more inputs to play with a friend ( guitar singer too) and is about to buy a yamaha mg10xu mixer for that. 1: do you have anything to say against this mixer ? i know Bose has its own mixers, but budget is budget 2: Can she plug this mixer on the channel 3 mini jack input with the proper cable ? Hello there for somes reason we have delayed the purchase of this mixer, but thank you very much for this tip. I understand this way we will have the benefit of the very good Bose presets for both vocals and guitars BTW this week my daughter gave her very first live performance, and the Bose S1 not only gives a very good sound, it's also very practical and simple to use. First it is lightweigt and easy to carry with the guitar on her back and the mic stand on the other hand. Then she played...Read More...
