Hints for Getting Prompt, Targeted Answers from Bose

Use descriptive words in the title of your request: for example, "Help with ToneMatch presets". Tell us which model L1 system you are using: Classic, Model I, Model II, Compact, PackLite. Supplying the first six digits of your serial number will allow us to identify the model if you're unsure. Tell us as much detail about the situation: what kind of venue, what kind of set up on stage, etc.Read More...

L1 Model 2 Power Stand No Sound after failed Firmware Update

I have an L1 model model 2 with tone match. Last night i did and update of the Firmware, both of the ToneMatch and The L1 Model 2. I appears however that the L1 update was interrupted. I took the system to a memorial function today but to my dismay I couldn’t get sound from the L1 Model 2 and the ToneMatch says that the power stand is not connected. I’ve tired several times to do a power cycle, re-download and redo the update but it has totally failed. Please help I am in Zimbabwe. I had...Read More...

A1 amp sounds like a zipper when turning power off

my A1 amp about 9 months old being used to power a B2 cabinet is sounding like a zipper when I turn the power off. I started turning the A1 power off separately from the rack when I noticed it popping all by itself without having any audio a few weeks ago. I removed the other device a DBX crossover to make sure it wasn't that. You can confirm my suspicions that the amp is going bad though. Thank you. T1 to the L1C to the DBX to the A1 to the B2 to my ears is a formula for a good acoustic box.Read More...
Thank you sir . I am running a Roland synth thru my acoustic guitar and the L1C wasnt quite enough to give me the thump I wanted with the bass patches. The A1 and B2 solved the lack of thump. No doubt bout that...my neighbors love me at 3 a.m.Read More...

Saving Scenes

If I have a saved scene that I have open and am using, but I mistakenly make an adjustment to a parameter (such as accidentally changing an EQ level) and can't remember where I originally had it set...Is there a proper way to go back to the original scene and reset it, so the original parameters are back like they were?Read More...
Hello Jim, Yes. Much the same as saving a scene, you can reload a saved scene. Turn the ToneMatch knob to Scenes, turn the Load knob, turn the Select knob to the desired saved scene, press the Select knob to load the saved scene. running an analog mixer thru Bose L1 Model II Single B2 Bass with T1 Audio Engine and losing a channel

I'm running a Numark analog mixer thru Bose L1 Model II Single B2 Bass with T1 Audio Engine and losing a channel. I run two XLR outs from the Numarks R&L channels, right channel 1 in right, left to ch.2 on the Tonematch. I have the Numark mixer mono setting engaged. However, I am not receiving one of the channels, which is very pronounced in certain songs, (i.e. Beatles - Twist & Shout vocal side is not there). Please advise, TIA!Read More...
Hello Ron, Keep in mind, if the Numark outputs stereo, the T1 will automatically sum to mono but any tracks which are not common to left and right, or not panned center, will not play as loud as the centered tracks. A hard-panned track will sound around 6dB lower than centered tracks which have constructively summed. Either channels 1 and 2 or 4/5 can handle line level signals with little to no difference in sound. A ground loop could be causing the noise you’re hearing. Try to connect all...Read More...

B2 EQ?

Does the B1/B2 require eq (or other 'processing') as well as low pass please? Or to put it another way, is the bass output of my L1M2 power stand EQ'd? I have 402's and a 402 rackmount controller so a proper bass output is available to me from there, with a suitable amp. Thing is, I also have 2xB1's and a B2 that I use with my L1M2 so would love this added flexibility to add the lower octaves to my 402's if required. Anybody know? ( I am a pro with 30+ years so be as technical as you wish)...Read More...
Thanks for your quick response. Ok, so B1 and B2 are good with low pass and no eq (unlike for example MB4). I look forward to hearing my 402's with the B2!Read More...

L1 Model II Power Stand - analog input blown

IketheProducer
This is one of the most embarrassing things that I've ever done...had a bar gig where we had to use a lift from the alley to get our gear up to the venue but the staff wasn't ready so we ended up short on time to set up. I'd been using my system as a bass amp and to mic the kick (T1) at smaller venues. The stage space was awfully cramped so our guitarist (who brought his PA) asked to run the monitor out from his powered mixer into my tower to save space since there was no room for wedges.Read More...
Hi Ike, Sorry for the trouble! We've all been there - short on time, mounting pressure.. and suddenly we just did something we wouldn't have if we had had the time to think. Please give us a call at 877-335-2673. We'll take the serial number and determine what the options are. We set up the repairs by phone and email a shipping label that you can use to send the product to our repair facility in Indiana. Hi Les, Here's how I would approach the setup: 1) Connect your music source to the T1 ToneMatch Microphone on channel 1 Guitar on channel 2 Music Input on channel 4/5 Here you'd want to use an 1/8" to Dual 1/4" adapter cable (assuming the music source uses an 1/8", or headphone, output). See the first image on this page For a preset, I'd choose one of the DJ/Playback options 2) Connect the T1 to one of the Compacts. Broken part, can it be replaced?

Folks, I recently purchased a Bose L1 Model II, used. The buyer was open about some minor cosmetic damage. However, in shipping, one of the partially broken pieces broke off completely. The top plate of the bottom half of the tower has a broken piece. (see photo for better description) It still functions correctly, but looks a bit tattered. Also, I am concerned about the stability of the connection with the broken piece being where it is. Can I purchase a replacement plate for this piece?Read More...

L1 Type II + Tonematch - HUM

When I simply have the L1 + tone Match connected, there is a low frequency hum (60Hz). If the AC cable GND is removed, the hum goes away. There is nothing else connected to the Tonematch and it gets it power from the L1 via the Bose CAT5 type cable. Everything is standard connections. The pair has always been this way since I bought it (Used). They make this hum wherever it is plugged in. Any ideas?Read More...
Hi Wojazz, thanks for your confirmation. As a final thought you could try connecting the L1 to a different power outlet in case there is an issue with the outlet you are currently using. It's a long shot but worth a quick try. Another thought, have you got the analogue input trim up on the powerstand? Does the hum go away if you turn this control fully anticlockwise? If so the issue could be with the analogue input socket. Again I have heard of this in the past and plugging a jack lead in to...Read More...

One of two “L1 II B2” systems cuts in & out

Need help to determine why “L1 II B2” system keeps cutting out. We run two (2) “L1 II B2” systems for PA sound reinforcement for our band. The band consists of 5 vocalists, Keyboard “split for left hand bass”, wireless sax, and mic’d electric guitar. Everything is going into a 16 channel mixing board. Everything is sent out of the board thru a balanced XLR “Y” splitter to feed both “L1 II B2” systems thru balanced cables. The Bose systems are set about ½ - 2/3 volume. During performance one...Read More...
I think I narrowed it down. I've done a couple of gigs since with no problem. Both times that I had the problem were at outdoor gigs. Used a 100 ft extension cord to first Bose unit, then a second 25 ft extension off the first one to the other Bose unit. The second Bose unit in the AC power chain was the one cutting out. Found that long extension cords are a Big No-No.Read More...

L1® Model II system with B2 bass and ToneMatch® audio engine

First Time User, Self educating using manuals! I am a veteran vocalist, using "Hoster" database for Karaoke tracks. I am routing Laptop in Tonematch CH 4/5 using USB type A to Type B. Unable to generate enough volume w/o feedback

I've owned an L1 mod II/B1 system for several years for small gigs, and added two F1's recently for larger venues. Used it first indoors in a very large cafeteria, with zero issues - in fact, the sound was incredible, and much-commented on (we use the L1 system as monitor). Yesterday we played an outdoor venue with furthest seating approximately 150 feet from stage. Lots of ambient crowd noise necessitated pumping up the volume, but despite a lot of adjusting, I couldn't get past 12 o'clock...Read More...
Hi B&B, With a single T1, L1, and two F1 812s, I would use the T1's Master Out to feed the first F1 812. Then, use the F1 812's output to feed the second F1. Make sure the F1 812s' inputs are set to Line Level Were you using the two F1 812s in front of you, like a traditional PA system? If not, I would place them in front of you and let them do the heavy lifting of producing the volume necessary for the crowd. And then since you're using the L1 as a monitor, you're free to position it in...Read More...

L1 ToneMatch Audio Preset Updates Not Appearing

When I use the L1 Updater for Mac to install the Audix microphone presets update, the new presets do not appear in my ToneMatch Audio Engine presets list. The new presets still don't appear. What am I doing wrong?Read More...
Thanks for this explanation. Is there any way to modify or add to the factory presets using downloads from the Bose website? If not it appears that it would only be possible to have 3 sets extra presets available at any given time if they can only be loaded into those three banks. For most situations that's probably all that's needed, but just wondering if there are any other possibilities.Read More...

Setting up sax with a To emaster T1

Hi just got a Bose L1 1S and Tonemaster. Absolutely hate the reverb settings, sounds really artificial and too many variables. I found my Fender Passport much easier to use- just turn the reverb up if playing for lots of people in a sound -dead environment. Simple and unfussy. can someone please offer me some guidance to get the best out of my new setup. I play backing tracks and use a AT remote clip on. The sax sounds somewhat "disconnected" from the backing track, like its not properly...Read More...
Hi Phil, We should have presets in the system for alto, tenor, and soprano saxes. Can you please double check that you're only seeing Trumpet? Trumpet is the first item in the list, but once you open up the preset list, you'll see the saxes and a couple of trombone presets. Regarding the effect varying with your playing volume - are you saying the volume level of the reverb changed or the length of the reverb changed? It's normal for the level to change with the input of course, but not...Read More...

POWERED mixer into L1 Compact

I have the L1 Compact and I love it. I also have a Carvin RX1200L Powered mixer. I'd like to use that mixer for when I'm playing with multiple musicians and run it all through the Bose. There are two outputs on the mixer (L/R) that are separate from the main speaker outs and I'm assuming this is what I would use; however, I'm curious about running power from the mixer amp into the Bose. Is there a good way to do this or should I not even use that mixer? I've attached the manual to this post.Read More...

L1 Mdl 2

Have had this for 2 years, no issues. Last night the sound drops out for 2 seconds, back on for 2, then back off for 2, then back on problem free for a few songs. Made sure the ether net cable from tone match to the L1 was connected well and all was fine for 2 hours until my last song when the fading in and out happened again. Set the unit up today and I cannot repeat the failure. Any advice?Read More...
Hi Shaullboy, Troubleshooting intermittent issues is never fun. Checking the Ethernet cable is right, and I would also suggest checking the bass module cable. Make sure the cable fits securely and isn't loose at either the power stand or the bass module. If there's an intermittent connection there, the amp kicks off temporarily to adjust for the changes it senses. If you were playing a gig when this happened, it possibly could be bad power at the venue. The best advice for testing, though...Read More...
