That could work however (see below) Try this. On the mixer Pan the microphones hard left Pan the guitars hard right Connect the mixer left output to S1 Pro channel 1. Channel 4/5 on my T1 low volume with iPhone

I have similar issue. Just sent tonematch to bose and got it back w experiencing same issue. Ive been using a mono cable out of phone into channel 4 for about 5 yrs. all of a sudden very low volume. Plug into another pa system using same cables and no issue. Exhausted myself messing w settings. Plug into other inputs and it works ok, but I need those channels. Please help ?!Read More...
Hi Bruti, If you have a cable like one of these, it will not work properly with T1 inputs 4/5. Any combination of adapters with a 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) Tip-Sleeve plug at one end and 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve at the other will not work. T1 Channel 4/5 input jacks are balanced. A cable like this send the iPad Left output* only to both sides of the balanced input. The balanced input will sum the sides with the polarity reversed and cancel the signal. This would happen with any balanced...Read More...

L1 replacement parts?

Hello, I own an L1 Model II system with a T1 Tonematch audio engine and a pair of B2 bass modules. This rig has served me well for years (bought in 2012), but over the last year it has started flaking out. One of the channels in the T1 has become noisy, and now the "power stand" base unit has something wrong with it--making lots of garbled noise when turned on with (no inputs even). I would like to replace both of these parts. The T1 is easy to find sold as a separate product. The "power...Read More...

S1 pro - connection to an external mixer

Hi there seriously about purchasing the S1 pro before I dive in though just wanted to be sure of a few basics - as I require extra channels would a QSC touchmix 16 be fine with the S1 / would I simply hook it up through a channel of the S1? Also if I were to use a TS1 how would I hook that up through the S1 Many thanks in advance :-) JeromeRead More...
Hi Jerome Hillier, The article only mentions the T1 - requiring a ToneMatch Power Supply because it doesn't come with one. The T8S requires the ToneMatch Power Supply - and it is included. That should be fine. Yes. No, sorry. Bose engineered the T8S ToneMatch mixer to have eight full-function channels and two Auxiliary inputs. The Aux inputs 9/10 are routed directly to the Main Output. You can use the Pan and Level adjustments accessible through the PAN/AUX menu. There are no changes to...Read More...

Using an external monitor with Bose L1 Model II

I am in a Bluegrass band using a Bose L1 Model II with B2 Base. Our Dobro player cannot hear his notes if he connects his Dobro into the system. I need to capture the audio from the Mixer before it gets mixed up with the crowd noise so I need everything going through the Tonematch Mixer. Do you know of anyone who has had this issue? Do you think I could use a stage monitor for him so he could hear? If so, do you have a product recommendation? Thanks,Read More...
Hi, Ioni Creek. Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. Thank you for the interesting question. As you probably know, performing in front of the L1 reduces the need for extra monitors. Sometimes it's not possible to stand in a position where you can hear yourself. Sometimes there are so many voices and instruments coming through the L1 that it's difficult to pick out just one for monitoring. Bose introduced the Bose S1 Pro last year. It is a multi-function device and...Read More...

No power on L-1 Classic

I have an L-1 Classic and have been using it since 2010. I play in a duo and we play every weekend, sometimes both Friday and Saturday night. I've never had a problem with the unit until last night. I set it up, connected the guitar and mics and turned it on. The green power light did not come on. I checked the power connection and it was good. I keep a test meter with me and I checked the fuse. It was okay. When I got it home, I checked the on/off switch with the meter and it's good. Any...Read More...

Best hookup L1 model S with Yamaha MG10XU

Can someone provide my best hookup options for Acoustic Guitar and Vocal with a Yamaha MG10XU I am a bit confused on if I should use both sides of the stereo outputs on MG10XU mixer (via a splitter) or simply plug in to (1) 1/4 inch output. Currently I split the XRL stereo out but not sure if that is the best hookup. Any help with correct type of cables ect. would be greatly appreciated.Read More...
Hi Rockbottom, You can use either. It's easier to suggest a 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable because the ends are interchangeable (it doesn't matter which end is which), and it may be easier to find. STRead More...

Help selecting a system

Hi, I'm looking to purchase a portable PA system. I have a 9000 sq ft ball room which we will use the system for town hall, meetings, seminars. up to 450 guests within 75 ft. of the stage/speaker location. we use a Shure Sm85 for our Mic. We need something portable for offsite events in much smaller venues. Parties, reunions, ect. Needs: Single person setup and portability. Bluetooth connectivity for phone/ipod/laptop audio. (onboard or adding the adapter) Input for wired laptop/ipod/phone.Read More...
Hi Lawrence, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. A single Bose L1 Model II with B2 bass module will provide coverage for the ballroom as you have described. Add a T4S ToneMatch mixer to accept the inputs you described below. The L1 system is portable, and with the extremely wide horizontal dispersion, it works in large and small venues for all kinds of functions (spoken word to parties). The L1 Model II system is made up of four pieces: Cylindrical Radiator® (the...Read More...

Tonematch EQ profiles to use with FOH mixer

Our small portable church (gymnasium) recently purchased 4 L1M2 systems with four T4S mixers to replace the standard FOH PA system. We love the sound but for several reasons, we would like to use our current Presonus board to mix and the Bose as FOH/Monitors behind the band. (See reasons at the end if curious). When we were playing through the T4S, we had no issues with mic feedback. We are now bypassing the T4S entirely (it didn't seem to work to go from the mixer to the T4S to the L1; my...Read More...

Hi LitoA, Are you adding the second L1 Model II to the setting you described in this discussion: Recommended way to connect to. Behringer Xr18 mixer ? If yes, You can run the Behringer XR18 Left output to the first L1 Model II and the Right output to the second L1 Model II. That will send sound out to both units, and you'll be able to control them individually with the pan controls on each channel. You can pan all the inputs up the center, but if there's overlap in the coverage area, you may...Read More...

Hi MamaBear, If you are not getting any sound from the bass module Check the Cables So, if you have a moment and a screwdriver, we can fix these cables together. Remove the rear shell of the connector by unscrewing it. (See the pic below, not the exact connector but similar). We use a 4-wire connection so what you need to do is re-attach, possibly restripping first (need to use a wire stripper), the wire to the connector terminals. There are four terminals +1, -1, +2, -2. Each wire needs to...Read More...

T8S Ethercon (CAT-5) port

Hello, Recently purchased a pair of L1 mk 2 speakers with a pair of B2 subs. My question is this: I want use the tonematch t8s through a pair of L1 mk 2 speakers with B2 subs each. I know there is a pair of analogue xlr outs on the t8s but I want to use the cat 5 line out. Can I daisy chain tonematch t4s with t8s to take advantage of the two cat 5 line outs on the t4s to a pair of L1 mk 2 speakers left and right? Will sound on the remaining 2 plus 8 xlr in's be compromised? I am a novice...Read More...
Hi Manny, Thanks for asking. On the T4S, the ToneMatch (RJ-45) ports are used this way. RIGHT: Accepts power from a ToneMatch power supply or an L1 Model 1S or L1 Model II If connected to an L1 Model 1S or L1 Model II, sends audio LEFT: If connected to an L1 Model 1S or L1 Model II, sends audio Does that help? Tascam Model 24 to T1 connection with L1 Mod II

Good day. Have an L1 model II with T1, daisy chain a Yamaha MG82CX to channel 4/5 and use Mixcraft for DAW. Have great results recording to Ch 1 and 2 with USB to PC, but at times would like to do more than 2 simultaneous tracks. I'm interested in the Tascam 24 to accomplish this. What do you think would be best option for connection to T1, or would i pan left and go to analog, or is this just a bad idea? I think I would have to connect USB from Tascam to PC to arm multiple tracks? Would...Read More...

Humming and Reverb

So, I just plugged in my L1 Model2 and turned it on today, and the speakers buzzed without the volume turned up. Then, I connected audio and it has this crazy reverb. Since I have two model 2's, I swapped location and speakers. Same result. It's buzzing when not connected to audio, and it has this crazy reverb (and lower volume output) when connected to music. When i turn it up, it kind of pops. Not good. Any ideas?Read More...
Hi AdamJStout, Thank you for joining the Bose Portable PA Community. Welcome. I'm sorry you're having a problem with your L1 Model II. Since you've swapped things out - and it sounds like you've isolated the problem to one power stand - that power stand will likely have to be serviced. If it was just an issue crazy reverb and low output - well that sounds like you've got a stereo source connected to the mono analog input. Tha doesn't explain the buzzing when nothing is connected. It sounds...Read More...

Model 1S fault - advice needed

Hi I've been asked to repair an L1 model 1S that the owner told me was producing a constant humming noise. He isolated the fault to the base unit by swapping the top array and bottom extensions over with another unit that is working okay. I had expected this to be a mains hum issue, but on testing found that the hum is at 172Hz. I've attached a video to give you an idea of what it sounds like. Before I start taking the base unit apart, can anyone suggest what the source of the 172Hz might...Read More...

Connect Yamaha MC10XU mixer to L1 Compact.

Apparently the mixer is stereo an L1 is mono. also line out from mixer is XLR and L1 is 1/4". How can I best make this work? Can is just use a cable that is 1/4 on one end and xlr on the other? What about the Stereo vs. Mono situation? I read some forum stuff, but don't really trust it. Help. Mike AshleyRead More...
Hi Mike A. Thank you for your question. I looked around and could not find a Yamaha MC10XU, but did find the MG10XU. Is that your mixer? If not, please reply with a link to the owner's guide for your mixer. My comments below refer to the Yamaha MG10XU. Yes. On the Yamaha MG10XU, there are two 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve outputs available below the XLR outputs. You can use 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable to connect mixer Left Output to the L1 Compact channel 2 input. Pan all...Read More...

saving scenes

I think I've managed to save a scene and name it. When I then load this scene to use next time, is there anyway to check that it actually has saved all of my channels correctly? Once I loaded it, I went to reverb type and it was not what I had saved. I went into catagories to see if the vocal mic was preset and there doesn't seem to be any indication for what I had savedl Then going to eq, or it also didn't seem to save what I'd had set.Read More...
