Hints for Getting Prompt, Targeted Answers from Bose

Use descriptive words in the title of your request: for example, "Help with ToneMatch presets". Tell us which model L1 system you are using: Classic, Model I, Model II, Compact, PackLite. Supplying the first six digits of your serial number will allow us to identify the model if you're unsure. Tell us as much detail about the situation: what kind of venue, what kind of set up on stage, etc.Read More...

L1 compact buzzing

I have a Bose L1 compact. A while ago, it started making a hum or buzz when I turn the volume up. It's very distracting and it seems to be getting worse. I don't know what to do about it. I'm playing a guitar through a Baggs Venue, but it also happens with a Radial Tonebone preamp. The louder the volume, the louder the buzz.Read More...

Have you tried a different cable? Are you connecting to L1 Compact Channel 2 with a Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable and the ToneMatch switch set to Guitar (up)? Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

Plugging in Yorkville Mixer to L1 (Manual attached)

Hi everyone, thank you for all your help in advance! I have a Bose L1 Compact system and I am looking to add a few more inputs and currently have a Yorkville M1610 portable mixer (powered). I have read the Yorkville manual and it looks like I can use the MON Out Jack and plug that into a line level input on the Bose L1 system. Is this correct? I am aware that it is not wise to use the powered speaker outputs A and B on the back of the Yorkville Mixer, that is why I am checking with the sound...Read More...
Hello, Reid. Thank you for joining our Portable PA Community. Welcome. I appreciate the time you invested to provide us with documentation for your mixer. Based on the information you gave, You should be able to connect the MON Out Jack to L1 Compact Channel 2. Set the ToneMatch Switch to Line Level (the down position). For best results use a 1/4" (6.3 mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable to maintain a balanced connection from the MON output of the mixer to the L1 Compact. Here is an excerpt from page...Read More...

Panaray series II compatibility with controller

hi all I Have recently picked up a few 402 series II and knew I would need a controller, I bought a 402c controller as I knew the 402e was for the old type. I am asking if the 402c is best for compatability with the 402 series II speakers or go for a digital controller. The only other thing I may add is a 502b or a MB12 to back them up for full range as I have 8 x 402 series II's in top condition and was thinking of hiring them out or selling them as a package setup. many thanks in advance...Read More...

Hello Bose Support - it's been awhile, but I really need your help... I'm a long time L1 user, having owned the original L1 back in 2007... that unit eventually started to fail, and I upgraded (through Bose direct) to the L1 Model 2... it was around 2010 when I upgraded, and that Model 2 eventually started to fail in 2012, with an issue surrounding Bass frequency drop off (see original thread started by me on 8/3/12, with other users experiencing the same issue)... I spent over $300 early...Read More...

S1 Pro - Has Solid Red Light Even When Plugged In

My S1 Pro has a solid red light, even when plugged in. When I unplug the unit from power and the switch is in the off position, the light stays red for about 15 secs. T4S Power supply

I have a T4S mixer and the Bose recommended power supply. I am currently powering this with a portable lithium ion battery pack (Base S360 42000 Mha) which can be solar powered. This produces a modified sine wave AC connection which appears to work OK and power the mixer for several hours. The T4S feeds a Bose S1 Pro using its internal battery pack. However I have a question on whether a modified sine wave battery generator can damage the T4S or its Power supply brick? i also find that if I...Read More...

Hello, Alaskan, Thank you for your question. Yes, you can use the L1 Model 1S without the Cylindrical Radiator® (tower) attached. You will hear only the frequencies below 200 Hz. By itself, that won't sound very good. You can insert the bottom half of the column, but there are no drivers in that portion, so that won't affect the sound. Does that tell you what you need to know? Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

KSM32SL mic

Hello, Opus70. Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Here are some things to consider if you want to use the Shure KSM 32 SL microphone with an L1 Compact. On the Shure page, it lists the KSM 32 for studio vocals, and for live sound for instruments. The Shure KSM 32 has a cardioid polar pattern. We recommend microphones with hypercardioid or supercardioid polar patterns for vocals to get the best gain-before-feedback. The Shure KSM 32 requires phantom power. The L1 Compact does not...Read More...

Acoustic Bass into T8s->L1-II: Recommended Pickup + Preset?

This thread in L1 forum provides more background. So far no responses there, hoping someone from Bose who is expert in this matter can advise. Two main questions: 1) Are there any recommended pairings of pickup/mic and T8 Preset for acoustic bass (in a jazz trio setting)? 2) In case of no proven "best" preset for a given pickup or other capture device, what are the basic guidelines one can follow to dial-in optimal T8 settings for bass? Thanks.Read More...

Hello, Kaare. I'm sorry, this cannot be changed. Try this: Select the channel you will most likely need to change next. That might be the lead vocalist's vocal, or the most important instrument. Then set the Rotary Selector to feature you will most likely need to change - e.g. zEQ. Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

S1 Pro logo

Hi, I was rotating the logo on my S1 Pro, and it snapped in half. Also the back part of it is now rattling around inside the grill. I called tech support, and they said the logo is not sold (or available) separately, and the grill is non-removable - so how do I repair this? I was told I could send it in for repair, but physical damage would not be covered under warranty. Any suggestions? Thought I'd ask the Pro specialists. Thanks!Read More...

Which system would be better?

Hi, The folks I work for are needing a PA to amplify Christmas carolers in both outdoor and indoor settings. (maximum capacity around 200 people and a distance of 40 feet). There will be 8 wireless mics for male and female vocals mixed into the system. Would an L1 model 2 be enough for this, or should I consider the F1 line? My concern with the L1 is that 8 vocals is too many as I know in a perfect world, "each source would have its own L1". My concern with the F1 is that it's a tad overkill...Read More...
Hello, Chris. Thank you for your question. Assuming that people in the audience could be in a semi-circle in front of the singers (200 people within 40 feet), the L1 Model II is a better choice. If your singers use good microphone technique, you should be okay. Please see this article for more information. Microphone Feedback Does that answer your question?
