Use descriptive words in the title of your request: for example, "Help with ToneMatch presets". Tell us which model L1 system you are using: Classic, Model I, Model II, Compact, PackLite. Supplying the first six digits of your serial number will allow us to identify the model if you're unsure. Tell us as much detail about the situation: what kind of venue, what kind of set up on stage, etc.Read More...

red power light

Hi I have been using the bose l1 model 2 for a few years now, unfortunately tonight during a gig the unit cut out and the power light turned red, I tried all of the suggestions like unplugging it and leaving it for 30 seconds, and also on arriving home I have plugged it in and after a couple of minutes it has done it again. Does this mean I need a new power base or can it be repaired. thanks chrisRead More...

L1 Classic - Clicking Noise

Hello! We're a nationwide entertainment company, and one of our locations is working with an L1 Classic which is making a clicking noise. It's always in the background when speaking into the mic, and when music is playing, it overpowers the music. We've tried switching cables, unplugging everything and plugging back in, but the noise is still there. Does anyone have suggestions/ideas as far as what may be causing the issue or potential solutions? It's also worth noting that this system is at...Read More...
Sorry to hear about the trouble. If this doesn't just end up being a power/grounding issue with the outlet in question, then this seems to be internal, and there is nothing we could try, short of what you have already tried. I suggest calling our Pro Portable support team at 877-335-2673 for a service solution.Read More...

1st Gen L1 - and B2's

Hi I have the first generation of L1 - with the half-moon base (PS1). I want to add another B2. The manual is confusing. It has a diagram on p13 showing one just connects another B2 unit in series. Yet the text says "Do not connect more than two B1 bass modules to the B1 Bass Module (Amp 3 OUT) jack on the PS1 power stand." Please advise: can another B2 just be added in series, or is the L1PKLT required? If so, will this old model of mine work OK with L1PKLT? Thanks JacquesRead More...
Thanks a lot Chris for your quick reply - much appreciated. I got a bit confused with B1 and B2. My question was actually about the B1. I will go with the B1s. I have just had joy with this system - great product!Read More...

You can connect an external power amp to the line output on the L1 Compact to power another passive speaker, or you can connect a powered speaker to the same line output. If this is a full range powered PA speaker, you can connect a line output from an L1 Classic (PAS), L1 Model 1, or L1 Compact. If you use the T1 ToneMatch, you can use the Master Output for a full mix, or AUX output for a sub mix to any powered speaker.Read More...

Vocalist live 4 and Mic to my L1 Classic that has a Tonematch 4

How do I connect a vocalist live 4 and Mic to my L1 Classic that has a Tonematch 4 attachedRead More...
This depends somewhat on how you want to use the Vocalist Live, but for a 'mix' out, you should stick with the L/Mono output via XLR to channel 1 or 2 on the L1. Select a 00 preset for a flat response, as the processing would be all done in the VL4. Thanks, ChrisRead More...

Bose L1 1S(with Tonematch) - connecting external mixer -powered or unpowered?

Hi, I have a potential gig situation coming up where I may be asked to connect an external mixer to my Bose L1 1S. Scanning the forums this comes up a lot but I need a definitive answer on how I should do this. Can I plug an external mixer into ch 4/5 of the tonematch mixer and does it matter whether the mixer is powered or unpowered? Or should I just plug the mixer into the analog port on the power stand. My thinking is that if the mixer is powered I should go into the power stand, and if...Read More...

set up tone match to run sound from MacBook pro

I'm missing something simple. I am trying to run sound (from a powerpoint presentation from MacBook Pro through USB to Tone Match. Hello John, You can do this through USB or by using the headphone output of the MacBook. The choice is yours. To use USB audio, simply make the connection with a USB cable between the T1 ToneMatch and the laptop. The laptop should see the T1 as a new audio device and automatically switch to it. (The computer doesn't actually care whether or not it's a Bose T1 - it just knows that there is a new USB audio device connected and begins using it.) Generally, you'll want to make the USB connection...Read More...

Bose L1 Classic in unpowered mode?

I have an L1 Classis that will no longer power up (yes, I tried changing the fuse). I understand from reading various online forums that the aux power supply is likely shot, and that there isn't anybody who can fix it. So, I'm wondering if I can use my L1 in unpowered mode, fed from either a powered mixer or from another working L1. Will it drive the bass module? And is this a reasonable thing to do? I sure hate to throw the L1 into a landfill...Read More...

Upgrade controller & amps for 802 / 302 system

Before I start, I know, this gear is really old... We have a system that is 20+ years old that consists of a pair of 802-II's, a pair of 302-II's connected with a 802c controller and driven with a pair of Crown PS-400 Amps. The system actually works well without any issues but we realize it's really old. There are a pair of RANE ME-60's for EQ in the system as well. We'd like to update the amp's and controller to more modern equipment and continue to use the existing speakers unless there...Read More...
Hi Jeff, There are a few ways you could go. If you wanted to go with a controller with separate amps, I would recommend the ControlSpace SP-24 over a ControlSpace ESP unit (unless you need the additional processing power than an ESP provides). The SP-24 does not have a dedicated EQ curve for the 302II, but there are filters and a parametric EQ that you can adjust. I would start with a bandpass filter set up for ~55Hz to ~180Hz. Then adjust to taste. And its similar for the 802II - there is...Read More...

802 II speakers

Hi Gary, Thanks for posting. The 802E was designed with the original 802 EQ curve, which could work on the 802 II. So, yes, you could use the 802E, but I'd recommend a newer controller in general. An 802E is going to be around 40 years old. At this point, we'd recommend using the current ControlSpace SP-24 with the 802 III EQ curve. Here is a list of controllers compatible with the 802 II across the generations: 1. 802C 2 802C II 3. Panaray System Digital Controller 4. Panaray System Digital...Read More...

Brand new L1 Model2 B2 system doesn't always output sound when switched on

Hi I just bought a new L1 Model2 B2 system, which sounds great. BUT Normally, when I switch the system on, the blue light comes on, the fan comes on (you can hear it) and then when I unmute the T1 inputs and play, there's audio coming out of the system. THE PROBLEM Sometimes (the 2 first weeks it was systematic and now it's every 5-6 switch-ons) the blue light comes on, the fan DOESN'T come on and when I unmute the T1 inputs and play, there's NO audio coming out of the (brand new) system! Connecting F1 Subwoofer to L1 Model II system

I have an F1 Subwoofer that I am wanting to use instead of the B2 Bass Module. First of all, is this possible and second, if so, what type of cable to connect from the F1 subwoofer to the power stand of the L1 Model II?Read More...
Hello DJTex33, Good question! Yes, it is possible to connect the F1 Sub. On the Model II, there is a "bass line out" connection which will send a line level signal. You can connect this to an input on the F1 Sub. The connecting cable could be either a 1/4" to 1/4" or a 1/4" to XLR. Here's the catch though - the bass line output is going to be EQ'd for a B2. Your ears can decide if the sound is good or not, but from a technical stand point, the F1 Sub is not designed to match with the L1...Read More...

Hi Peter, Simple and Easy - connect everything to the TKR-304P (TJ Media) On the the TKR-304P there are a lot of Karaoke related functions built-in and accessible through the Remote control. Take advantage of the Remote, you'll need to connect the microphones and DVD player directly to the the TKR-304P . More complexity - more control over the vocals I like the T1® and the features it has for making the most of vocals. I would probably connect the microphones directly to the T1®, but that...Read More...

Base Module sounds "muddy"

Hi Mike, Thank you for joining the Bose Pro Portable PA Community. I'm going to answer for Bose Support because it's the holiday weekend. You mentioned a T1®. The presets for acoustic guitar and vocal microphones already have processing to reduce low-end muddiness. There isn't a way to put a high pass shelf across the whole system, but there is a utility Preset that you can apply to individual channels. But if you use this, you miss out on the vocal microphone and acoustic guitar Presets.Read More...

Output on Tonematch for house PA

Hi there. I play a few venues that want me to go through their house PA. They have a 1/4" patch, what is my best option on the mixer to do this? Also, how can I control the output level? Thanks! MattRead More...
Hi Matt, Thank you for joining the Bose Pro Portable PA Community. I'm going to answer for Bose Support because it's the holiday weekend. It's easy to connect your T1® to a house PA. Run a 1/4 inch jack Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable to the house PA. This is a mono, balanced line-level output. It is controlled by the T1® Master Output. It's basically a sonic clone of what you hear through your L1® (if you are using your L1® in addition to running out to the house PA). If you don't have a 1/4 inch...Read More...
