I would say making a water resistant... using the same technologies that Bluetooth speakers use would be GREAT! I am not sure why cheap Bluetooth speakers can be water proof, and Bose portable PA gear is not... in fact this is true of all pro audio powered speakers. Hi Mahesh, Okay, this sounds good. I was checking to see if there was anything odd in your setup that might cause problems. No cause for concern here. Instead of Tape Delay and reverb, try this for your vocals microphone : Digital Delay Time: 100 ms Mix: 15% - vary up to 30% Fdbk: 0% - vary up to 10% You should have better intelligibility and move the vocals out in front of the backing tracks. I suggest that Bose consider a sub for the S1 using a setup process similar to the Behrnger BD1200D. Set up the T1 for stereo

Hello everyone, This is a guide on how to set up a T1 feeding two separate sources for left and right, e.g. two model II's or model I's. T1 is designed to be a mono device, so the setup for stereo is a little complicated. But, once set up, you can easily control volume of the stereo feed from your stereo device (keyboard, DJ mixer, iPod, etc.). Please note - you will not be able to use reverb in this configuration. Succeeding in the Performing Arts: Introduction

Ken-at-Bose
Hi Folks, For the past few years, we've had discussions amongst the moderators and others about the idea of collecting our experiences in the performing arts (mostly live music) into some short essays that might help to disseminate the knowledge. The time has come to begin this effort. Each "lesson learned" will be a new thread, whose title will begin with "SUCCEEDING IN THE PERFORMING ARTS" followed by a colon and few words about the topic. L1 Model I - Preset 3.0 Patch (DJ's only)

Attention DJ’s using the L1™ model I system, We recently identified an isolated issue that only affects DJ’s that are using Preset #58 (High Volume Pre Recorded Music) on the L1™ model I system. It was discovered that L1™ model I power stands with a serial number less than 042829Z72550001AC did not accurately contain the advertised preset #58. This preset is specifically intended for DJ’s playing pre recorded music at higher volume levels. Instead, it contained a flat EQ setting which is...Read More...

NATIONAL DJ ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT REVIEW

I just wanted to report on my first weekend of using my new BOSE system. I use the word power in parenthesis because two different meanings for the same word were revealed to me this past weekend. On Friday Night I had an event at my local NFL Stadium out on the field. I have done this event for the previous 4 years so this was my 5th and first with the BOSE system. The sound that came out of those two towers and 4 B1s was something like I have never heard before. It literally filled the...Read More...

L1 Benefits Statement

This is an example of some of the old "Gems" which are turning up since the introduction of the new forum software. The words are as true now as they were then. Here's an example. My wife had a birthday party in January and I set up the Compact+T1 so that I could play easily for our guests and be heard anywhere in our living room which is L-shaped and about 50m2. Due to illnesses and bad weather forecast (snow) the party wasn't too big an affair and I could have played without amplification.Read More...

@andrewdouglas , I get your opinion about "eating the mic". That holds true with an SM58 and similar mic's. Steve Miller Band and Cylindrical Radiator(r) speakers

Some of us in the Live Music Technology Group recently went to see and hear the Steve Miller Band play at the Tweeter Center in Boston, a summer shed holding about 18,000 people. Steve has purchased a number of Cylindrical Radiator speakers over the past 18 months and has written us to tell us of his experiences with them. (With his permission, we've posted these HERE ). Even better than the 'patented' solution in the above post would be a simple wooden doorstop, because you could adjust the angle of declination of the sound pattern. Line array loudspeakers oriented vertically are 'aimed' to play to an audience that is an infinite distance away. To aim your L1 in such a way that plays with full volume to all rows of the audience, put a laser pointer on top of your L1 (or imagine one there) and insert the doorstop underneath the rear edge of the Power Stand...Read More...

My advice is to NOT use Bluetooth on the S1Pro with any music that has significant bass and/or kick drum. I first noticed it on some funk tunes I was playing. Blown out bass and extremely sharp ride cymbals. You get much better performance if you connect a cable directly from your device to the s1pro. I get better separation and more volume. I currently use a 3.5mm to xlr on channel 1 or 2. I found it better than using the 3.5mm to 3.5mm. Adjust the tone match switch to your preference. I...Read More...

Should I use one or 2 L1 M2s for speaking engagement? Mixer for 2 or 3 Systems?

Greetings, I have upgraded my video production business to include audio support. I recently purchased one L1 M2 w/B2 and have just found a used 2nd L1 M2 w/two 2B1 subs that appears to be in good shape as a backup. Thanks for your quick response! Top center of the 40ft short wall is where the speaking will take place, so the 300+ attendees will be narrow but stacked deep. No stage or risers. Standing and milling about on foot. Some with children would be sitting on the floor. One of the 100 ft walls is mostly floor to ceiling glass and the other is typical wall paper covered drywall. Today's walk thru appears to indicate that the lecturer will be maybe 5 to 10 feet center from that short wall. My...Read More...

Battery drains in two-three days

I have had my S1 Pro for about 13 months and I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the battery draining. I charged it up Friday night - used it for 90-minutes on Saturday morning. It sat in the shop until just now, Monday evening and the battery is dead. This same thing happened last Friday AM when I went to use it - had it charged up two days before. RE: Does Tone match make a big difference and how to mix

Wireless Mic Experiences with L1M2

CityFolk
Anyone out there have any experience with this wireless mic adapter (or something similar)? It’s intriguing because you can plug in a transmitter into your existing dynamic mic and its receiver into your mixer. I don’t have any special long distance requirements, just tired of wrangling with cables. I’d never be more than 10 feet away from the L1, however, I still want quality sound from our Shure 58A Beta mics. Not sure if something like this would adversely “color” the sound.Read More...

First read this prior post . It goes into the detail you’re looking for and even includes pictures on how one person connected 2 L1 Compacts using the U3. This is probably a comment for the enhancement wish list but I was hoping that when Bose came out with the T4/8, they would have added enough memory to the unit to allow pretty much unlimited storage of both presets and scenes.
