I just recently purchased a used Packlite on eBay. Last night in order to test it, I ran my 2 B1's with my Packlite out of my L1 Model 2, verses hooking up the 2 B1's in the traditional manner. I could hear that the B1's were working, but seriously lacking. No balls, no punch. I hooked up the B1's, the traditional way and everything came back to life. Is there something wrong with this Packlite, or is there something I need to change in the setting on my T1?
The New Bose A1 Packlite Power Amplifier & 2-B1 Combo Pak for drummers, bassists, etc. After having this little beauty in my possession for three weeks, there was simply no way I could ever let it go back to Bose. Along with the 2 extra B1s, it became my solution for powerful kick drum and toms. This “combo” was the only real solution I had in that the size and weight was something I was limited to. I haven't the room, the back, nor the desire to haul a big powered sub, especially for no more
While beta testing the A1 Packlite Power Amplifier with my drums, I came across a couple of things I want to quickly say about bass guitar with the augmented bass reinforcement system. I found that upright bass benefited greatly from the A1 & 4 -B1s. Very smooth sound with an AKG D112, no EQ. Great for jazz. Electric bass was not so simple. In my first test, a country trio, we ran a Yamaha 4 string into channel 3 of my PAS w/the A1 and subs attached. The sound was almost too much, even at low
was looking at is the Orange PPC112 which is unfortunately 16 ohms. It's rated at 60 watts which I figure is around what the packlite would put out with that load on it. What I can't seem to recall is if that would cause any damage to the packlite. I'm pretty sure that too little load ie; 2 ohms would be dangerous but would going up to 16ohms basically just reduce the output power or would it also do some sort of damage. Thanks
I have been using an L1 Model 2 with 2 B1's for my gigs. Last week bought the Packlite to add some more Bass to the parties, so I can have 4 B1's (total). 2 x B1's via the L1 Model 2 PS and another 2 via the Packlite. During my first gig with the Packlite, I did notice that when my Tonematch volume exceed around 1.00 clock, the Packlite LED would turn RED. I did notice some clipping related discussions, but wanted to get some expert advise on how to ensure I get the most of using the packlite
I would like to connect the T1 ToneMatch audio engine to the PackLite® power amplifier Model A1 which will power a B1 Bass Module. The L1 systems(that allow for the expansion\acceptance of Bass modules) have a direct output for the bass module and the Bass-line out (Note: At the back of the L1 systems their are 2 outputs for bass). I would like to find out if the T1 ToneMatch audio engine will output only the bass signal (As this is what i am assuming the L1 system does,if not please let me
Hi guys, I play a classical guitar wich has a LOT of bass, is made of Jacarandá wood from Brazil wich guives a very strong sound. My L1 Compact sometimes just can't handel that much bass... This also happens with my Archtop Guitar plugged on it. So, I was wondering about improoving the bass response with the A1 Packlite. As everybody knows this can't officially be done. But, I was thinkin, anyone knows if we can do that improvemente by using lineout of the L1 Compact to put into a channel of
Hello, I've been a L1 user for a long time since the introduction of the classic model. I also have LII, A1, T1, B1 and now B2's. I'm interested in Panaray 310M/620M and would like to use them for a small stage where L1 maybe too close to the singer. And I don't want to carry rack mountable amps and I really like the compact size of A1's. I'm wondering if: 1. A1 can be used for 310M/620M. 2. How many 310M's or 620M's can A1 support (I guess in parallel mode)? 3. Can A1 protect 310M/620M when...
The New Bose A1 Packlite Power Amplifier & 2-B1 Combo Pak for drummers, bassists, etc. Thanks Bose for blessing me with being one of the "beta testers" for the A1, I am guessing that I am the first to buy one, but Kyle would have to verify that. Anyway...I'm trying to keep this short, I've left out a few things but here goes. After having this little beauty in my possession for three weeks, there was simply no way I could ever let it go back to Bose. Along with the 2 extra B1s, it became my
I've used four B1s in the past utilizing a name brand amp rated at 500 watts a side and it was OK, but I didn't like the coloration of the amplifier. I just got two extended bass packages and the A1 blows away the other power amp for headroom and tone. The balance of the system now with 4 B1s and the A1 sounds fantastic with my bass. Having a low end scalability solution that is so easy to transport and set up is worth every penny of precious saved cargo space and added headroom. - DanS,...
Although the L1 Compact does not have a method for Bass Extensions built in, could one still use a Packlite A1 Module and a Bass Bin by placing a cable the from the L1 Compact 1/4" Balanced output into the Packlite A1? If the Compact is putting out Full Range, then perhaps a crossover unit in between for the Bass Bin? I know a common answer will be "You should just get an L1 Model 1 or L1 Model II w/ Bass Bins", but I'd like to stay away from that conversation, as the unit has already been
Someone told me that because I use 4 BI's I should also get the PackLite® power amplifier Model A1. My question is, what do I gain. I've been giving thought to trading the Bi's in for one B2. If I do that will I still need the Packlite? Thanks
I recently got updated warranty information for the L1™ family of products. This appears in several FAQs but it is all together on one page in the wiki. Here is the exciting part. The PackLite power amplifier will retail for $399.99 here in the U.S. The PackLite extended bass package, which includes two B1 bass modules and the PackLite amplifier, will retail for $999.97. As always, we’re open for questions! More info to follow also.
It seems that there are very few 2 bands with the same configuration of musicians and speakers. I am now the prod owner of 3 L1 m2, along with 6 B1, a T1 and a Packlite (A1). This is the best way I can think if to set up the band to take advantage of the Bose equipment that I own. http://toonz.ca/sketcher/showBand.aspx?SketchID=5026 Do I have the Bose concept right? Or is there a way to improve this setup? Thanks!
After seeing several reviews mentioning reduced bass performance of the Compact, I'm wondering if it's possible to add a Packlite? I'm sure Bose has already done this research and comparison to MI and MII. What does the Compact/Packlite sound like? How is the Packlite connected to the Compact? My idea is to use two Compact systems with a separate mixer to run in stereo. Will adding a single B1 and a single A1 to each side will extend the frequency response of the Compact? Thanks, Brad
This past Saturday evening, I used a double PackLite (2 A1's, one per side) and four additional B1 bass bins to augment the usual dual L1 4 B1 setup. The room was substaintial in size however there were only about 175 guests. Here's a picture of the entire enchilada as it looks from the guest's perspective: From a side angle: and the rat's nest under the table: The bass response sounded richer and deeper at higher volume levels but not at all dramatic. As 99% of my events are for 600 or less
Hello All, New Guy on the Bose block. Starting out with 2 L1 compacts and have access to an A1 Packlite which I would like to use with my EV SB122 subwoofers for low end augmentation @ small dance parties while I transition to the L1 model 2 as the finances allow. My question is the compacts only output a full range signal at the line out as opposed to the eq'd output of the L1 powerstands. Would I need a crossover to run the A1 packlite and subs and if so what frequency would be optimal? Also
Hi, i can't afford 2 L1's yet so I want to make the most of my Bose 802 pa. How would 2 B1's and a packlite A1 sound and i eq it so they would only get the bass end from my mixer which has sub out's? I understand that the B1's have been designed for the L1 system, but I have managed to get a great sound out of 802's without their controller using a 31 band graphic, so in theory i could do the same with the B1. Has anyone heard the comparison of 2 B1's against a MB4, the Mb4 rms is 200w and 2 B
I have 2 B1 bass modules. They both busted after having them for almost a year. Got them both fixed and bought the A1 power amplifier. One module busted again so I picked it up. The amp has been cutting out at the neutrik speakon connection. The other module has been sounding distorted. I unplug the speakon cable and plug it back in, then it's fine. Can anyone help me fix all of these problems? I am running from a Mackie TT24 Digital Console in a church. la4square
Hi all, can someone officially from BOSE tell me when they expect the A1 amp to be availabel in the UK. All the other parts of the puzzle are in place, the PAS, the B1s but not the A1? I was hoping to purchase the whole system (even though, I've just had to double my budget becuase the hall I need it in will probably need the extended pack) before my next gig which won't be till at the start of April. Or should I get it imported? shouldn;t be too much hassle should it? I'd rather wait for...
Darn you guys, you've done it again. Great concept. But...wait a minute...what would I actually gain if I went with it? Here's my existing bass rig: SWR Grand Prix preamp --> Presonus Blue Max Compressor--> Stewart World 1.2 --> Flite Sound 1x15...plus.... Line out from the preamp into an L1/B1 PAS, which is shared with half a drum machine and two vocal mics. The sound is stunning, especially with my new Bongo5. I also have a Bass Pod XT, but I use it only for effects, not modeling.
Merci d'avance.
I am selling 4 B1 Subwoofers and 1 packlite. all about 3 months old. Still under warranty. All have been giged about 6-8 times never abused. B1's $200 Each. $300 for the packlite. All come with covers and speakon cables. If you purchas 2 or more B1's I will throw in a 15 or 20 foot Speakon cable made from audiopyle for the Bose B1's Im located in Bolingbrook IL 60440 for shipping. Thanks
Here is my preliminary sketch. http://toonz.ca/sketcher/showBand.aspx?SketchID=6099 In summary, I have a wedding coming up with a 7 musicians: 1: drummer, 2: keyboard (split chords and LH bass), 3: elec. and acc. guitars 4: soprano/alto/tenor sax, flute, clarinet 5: trombone, trumpet, violin (probably electric so no feedback)) 6: Backup vocals 7: Guest Lead Vocalist And my equipment consists of the following: 3 sets of L1M2 with 2 B1 and a T1 each. 2 Compacts A fourth T1 one A1 One energy...

I wanted to make sure I got this right: If I hook up ONE (1) B1 to the BASS MODULE OUT on the L1 Power Stand, it is reference level. If I then hook up the Packlite using the BASS LINE OUT, I lose -6db in the bass, weather or not I use one or two B1s, hooked up to the Packlite. This would be the optimal way if I wanted a bass heavy signal since hooking up TWO B1's to the L1 Power stand'S BASS MODULE OUT loses -6db, then another 6-db when the Packlite is hooked up to the BASS LINE OUT. SO, 6DB VS
I currently have 1 L1 and 4 B1's as some of you may know. I am using a packlite for the additional B1's, and still considering adding another L1. I have my laptop going into my mixer via firewire. The mixer is getting a very healthy signal and not clipping. From the mixer I have left and right outputs going to channels 1 and 2. Mixer output level is around 12 oclock. I have the trims on both channels on "4" and no clipping there either. I set these to get the red light and then back off so no
did so and wasn't getting a full sound like I did with the Compact. Also there was feedback issues which I tweaked out using the zEq,having to cut a lot of highs ,I soon sounded very dull with no warmth or crisp vocals.I was plenty loud with lot more power to spare, but the sound just wasn't there. So this last Saturday night,I brought my Compact,T1,Packlite and 1 B1 for my reinforcement.Same thing, with about 80 people, lots of laughing, talking, whistleing lively crowd.Although,I lined out to the
I've done a few searchs and haven't found an answer yet, so I thought I'd pose this question. I have an L1 Model 1S and 2 B-1 speamodel 1 I'd like to utilize the A-1 Packlite for more low end. The input for the A-1 is a stereo TRS plug the output I'm told to use on the L1 is the Bass out which is a speakon connector. Is this the proper connection? Do the B-1 connectors use 2 or 4 points of contact? I've seen a few cables that are speakon to TRS, but not speakon to "Stereo" TRS. Is that a
I have been using 2B1's with my Model 1 for almost 2 years now, and last Saturday night I blew one of the drivers in one of the B1's. Bose is taking good care of me on the repair, but now I am concerned. There was no indication of a problem until it let go. was quite unexpected. WE Have 4 L1's total in a 5 pc Variety Cover band. trying to decide between 2 more B1's and packlite or a B2 and packlite. Also, That Packlite is pretty expensive for a 250 watt amp. Has anyone tried another power
Pbass and Eminence EUB - Sansamp Paradriver - Packlite - Euphonic Audio wizzy 12" cab the wizzy is 4ohms and rated for 200W so this is a perfect match. Most cabs are 4ohms or not as efficient as the Wizzy. The packlite and the wizzy put out an astounding amount of clean punchy bass I played two gigs this weekend and the packlite rocked it with plenty of headroom to spare: 1. 8 piece salsa band, no PA support. medium sized venue. 2. 4 piece rock band, no PA support. small venue. I was juiced
well. But, I still noticed. My question; would I gain more wattage towards mids and highs if I were to purchase yet another PackLite and run all the B1's from two PackLites, coming out of the "Bass - Line OUT"? I think so, but don't know for sure. I know 250 Watts is powering my stick and two B1's right now. Thanks, Derek
the dance floor interface my 18" powered JBL and Ashley 31 band EQ with the PAS. I have tried (4)B1's and found they overpowered you on stage and yet much of the bottom end we are all looking for disappeared away from the stage (bass units should be on Dance floor). A year ago, after using the Bose PAS for one year,I wrote to you and asked for a bigger Bass option. I applaud your efforts with the Packlite, but I still need more bass and from the number of postings on "BASS" issues, I would say
Hey guys. Well after all this time with an L1 (1 & a half years) you would think I would be smart enough to hook up a Packlite in a large room and set it so the L1 WON'T go into compression. Ok, long story short: Large-ish room, (at least 100 feet long by 80 feet wide) 60-70 people dancing (a small part of a Rock n Roll event held once a year in Australia called "Wintersun") and I set up the Packlite in a mild panic (running late, no time for a soundcheck) so by the time I raise the Master
Does the PackLite amp speakon output require a four conductor cable? Would it be possible to use the PackLite amp to drive an MB4? Two MB4s? How about a 502B? Does the Bass Line out signal from the Model Classic/Model 1 follow the presets? In other words, if preset 58 is being used, will the bass line out signal from the power stand into the PackLite amp also have the +6 db gain?
Greetings, I have 2 802's and I am hoping to upgrade to L1 Model 2 or Compact in the future. I thought that if I bought the Packlite Extended Bass Package (amp with 2 subs) I could use them later when I upgrade to L1. Will the Packlite w/Subs work well with the 802's? Much thanks for any advice.
I have an incomplete set, never used bought a year ago and just now having the time to try tweaking with it a bit. My question is, If I dont have the powerstick, can I rig the A1 to a third party power amplifier and if so, can anyone help me with what types of setups I can try without damaging any of my other equipment. I play guitar and Im hooked up to an interface for PC recording and thought that I could do without the cylinderical stick. Can anyone offer advice or help. I would greatly...
Hi Ihr !
