Good Music is Timeless

Seagullman
Hi Everybody, A little over 6 years ago Oldghm started a topic "Just a little something to brighten your day" which to this day still gets new posts and I'm sure brightens many people's days. It certainly has mine on many occasions. As I don't want to derail Oldghm's thread, I thought I'd start a new topic which allows me to comment and talk about things which Oldghm probably didn't envisage at the time. Although I've played in many bands, I've never stopped picking up a guitar and playing...Read More...

Best settings for T4S and DJ Controller

DJ's - Do you run your F1 tops with the "with sub" setting or "Full Range"?Read More...
Hi NAW-T-BOY, If you run Source to F1 Subwoofer with F1 Subwoofer HPF and the line out has only frequencies above 100 Hz. The F1 Model 812 goes down to 52 Hz (-3dB) so you are missing out on the frequencies from 52-100 Hz. However if you set the F1 Model 812 EQ to WITH SUB you also cut out the frequencies below 100 Hz that are heard from the F1 Model 812. However, the line out (to the F1 Subwoofer) is still full range. You can't harm anything by putting the switches in odd combinations. So...Read More...

I accidentally bent one of my zipper pull tabs, but none of them have broke yet. My bags now FINALLY close all the way. I've had the F1 system since December of 2018. Hi NAW-T-Boy, Any time you have two identical (or very similar) sound sources with overlapping coverage areas, there is the possibility of Multiple Source Interference. If you are using the L1 Compacts to fill in areas that are not covered by your main loudspeakers, then there's probably minimal overlap of the coverage areas. If you're getting significant overlap (and problems), then you probably didn't need the "filler for the sides of the room". The solution is to move the L1 Compacts or...Read More...

How can I prevent drunk partygoers connecting their smartphones to my S1?

The title is pretty explanatory really. I often have to leave a playlist running while getting changed or loading after gigs. Most people are familiar with how Bluetooth devices work these days. When I left the room to get changed on Saturday night I was lucky enough that my colleague spotted what was happening and confiscated the speaker. Could some kind of back plate be produced which would prevent people syncing their devices? Any other suggestions? Or should I just buy a tazer? 😂...Read More...

Volume too low with Shure SM58

Kjellarn
Hi! I unpacked a Bose S1 Pro today (alongside my L1S/B2/T1) planning to use it at a small gig on wednesday. But I am disappointed with the volume on the microphone (Shure SM58). I have tried different inputs and settings. The guitar sound great and with lots of headroom, but I have to crank the volume almost to maximum to get (to my ears) a reasonable volume from the Shure. Hi John, When performing, I try to achieve the same balance in the room as I would hear in my playing position without a system. By sitting or standing within the dispersion pattern of the L1 or S1 I think I do a good job of matching that balance. I play by ear. Even songs that I have played for years, I still must hear both instrument and vocal to know where to go. What I do with my hands and vocal cords depends on what my ear hears. Very loud venues can be troublesome for me, that's why I...Read More...

T8S Just Received_

First: I own a small Audio Visual company and own tons of Bose L1 and L1 Model II's. We love them and literally use them EVERYDAY for conferences and music. As a musician, I perform with a Model II. Light Hanger worse than Guitar Hanger??

Jeff K
Hey folks, So, I'm just throwing this out there that if Bose is going to take down my question about the possibility of attaching a lightweight LED light fixture non-destructively to the top of my L1 Compacts, and threaten loss of warranty for (non-existent) modifications of or alterations to the system, maybe they might want to take down any reference on the forum to this idiotic idea of actually hanging multiple much heavier guitars from them:...Read More...
Hi O, Understood, the warranty comment may be from the email they sent me, I'll have to look. Although I'm sure that anything that goes against the Caution statements would be warranty affecting. I'm not saying Bose has to endorse the idea, I just think it's silly to shut down any conversation about it. I've had discussions on other manufacturer boards on actually doing modifications to equipment and the manufacturer just cautions that it would void the warrant, care must be taken, etc, but...Read More...

Picked up a Compact and it seems quiet

I started with the Classic MANY years ago. When that blew up, I went with the L1M2. I still have it, but it's overkill for many of my gigs right now. I bought a pair of S1s and really like them and they can cover my gigs plus some, but I miss the low-end thump (1 acoustic guitar, 2 vocals). Feedback at higher volume

We tried our new L1 at a bar gig. Singer with his microphone, electric piano, and drum machine, singing maybe ten feet away to the side of the unit is getting feedback, therefore unable to turn up the system to fill the room. Hi MaxP, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Congratulations on getting your Bose L1 Model 1S. No have no cause to worry. Using an NL2 cable instead of the supplied NL4 cable will not harm the system in any way. The only consequence is if you have a B2, the B2 bass level switch on the back will not function correctly. If you have a B1, it will have received the incorrect EQ tuning. Neither of these outcomes could harm the L1 or the bass module in any way. STRead More...

L1 Classic power stand problem

Hi, I have 2 L1 classics which I love. After my last gig when I went to break down my 2nd L1 and the bottom tower (the one connects with the power stand) would not release so I could break it down. Thanks, LuRead More...

T1 Microphone Settings for Electro-Voice N/D967 T1 And Others.

Forum: Vocals
I have the L1c with the T1 ToneMatch which I use for Karaoke with family and friends. I have four mics that I use, N/D967, AKG D5 S, Audix OM-2 and a Samson UHF Series ONE wireless. I get confused by the terminology when trying to set-up the mics and also when I try to set-up delay or reverb. My preference seems to be the N/D967 but I'm confused by the personality switch when doing the set-up. Which position should I use and what reverb or delay should I use. Also, any help with all the mics...Read More...

T8S: Tuner, Reverb, Trim, Aux

Tonematch T8s 1. A firmware update to fix Tuner, The tuner is as erratic in a live environment, its difficult to get and accurate reading, even when all channels are muted, 2 . A newer firmware update to fix the reverb, even with the latest update the reverb still needs tweaked, the latest update is a vast improvement however I still think the reverb needs to clearer, and less muddy, ( the original tonematch reverb is still 100% better) the difference between 20% and 25% on the settings to...Read More...

Gain Staging T4/8S

Hello all, I am working with a T8S and after reading the bose manual and watching numerous Youtube videos, I am a bit confused in regard to Gain Staging especially in regard to the trim. The set up is full band, 3 vocals, one sax mic, keys and acoustic guitar. The Bose manual states to turn the gain up until a green light is indicated. The videos I have watched indicate to increase the gain until clipping occurs then back it off a bit. Currently the band is in a basement, unfinished, lots of...Read More...
Thank you, ST! The last couple of times I've played with my current main band, our "weakest link", a perpetually stoned, tempo challenged conga player (whose main experience is banging away in 'drum circles' with the Grateful Dead on the box) who believes that Conga is a lead instrument that should be the main thing heard -- especially during verses -- has nearly caused me to quit. T4S shutting off in heat

HI everyone, wanted to see if anyone has dealt with my issue as this was the first time experiencing it. I have a model 2 with B2 and a T4S that I run using the tonematch cable. My band played an outdoor gig the other night and after setting up, both the power base and the T4S were sitting in the sun for a bit (maybe 40 minutes). It was pretty hot, close to 90, in western Pennsylvania. As we prepared to play I noticed my T4S had powered off. The power stand was still on with blue light, but...Read More...
Have you tried running the T4s via power cable. Might run more efficient. I have had mine in direct sunlight for hours and have not had an issue. Speaking of EV, I used my T4s with EV ELXs and the ELX's overheated, but the T4s kept going. Try using the power cable...Read More...

L1 outside gig

Just recently played out in a back garden. Big big house very large garden a private BBQ party. First time I’ve gigged the L1s outside. The punters were a noisy bunch about 80 of them. They were already drunk when I arrived. Once The bouncy castle was removed I set up. I’m a solo singer guitarist with MIDI backing Roland Integra as my main sound engine. I have a pair of L1s with a B2 on each. I was asked to turn it up after the first song so I went for it a did they perform? I was well...Read More...
Hi With MIDI I have a very full sound. There are no guitar parts in the backing as I cover the guitar rhythm and solos. In the early days, I created my own MIDI backing tracks but for the last 10 years plus, I buy commercial files now, but I still have to make changes to them to suit my setup. I do still use some of my own files as I made a good job of them and still worth using. I too just played guitar but with a drum machine back in the 80s but gradually moved on with more tech. Stereo S1 Pros - Mixer - Acoustic Guitar Ground Hum

I'm working with a pair of S1 Pros running on battery. However, when I plug in my acoustic guitar with an under-the-saddle pickup wire (and a nine volt battery) ... the moment I plug it in I get a really annoying ground hum. Two S1 Pros for busking

Hello everybody. We are planning to do a little busking tour in Italy with our band which is a very quiet one (mostly we play bossanova and other jazzlike clean-guitar-sound songs). The band consists of: drums (no need for reinforcement), bass (can go to S1 Pro I guess), clean guitar with some battery powered multieffect, and vocal. I'm planning to buy a second S1 Pro for that because we need more power and more inputs. However, T1 is unfortunately not battery-powered. So I was thinking that...Read More...

Stereo Capability using a projector or live music to two F1 Model 812 systems

Hi, I am new to this stuff and need expert advice. I want to do outdoor projections for a 200+ people crowd. settings for a Porchboard Bass with the t4 and b2
