hiss on channel 1 with 1/4" to XLR from Alesis Multimix8 hard panned

Hey team, Just got a compact L1. Trouble shooting a hiss I get from my Alesis Multimix 8 to channel 1 of the L1. I'm hard panning vocals from the main out 1/4" from the mixer with a 1/4" to XLR into channel 1 of the L1. The instruments are panned opposite through channel 2 and sound great. 3 acoustic strings & 3 vox. Please advise. ZRead More...
ST, Thanks for the response. Looking at the Alesis Multimix 8 Quick Start Guide I can't tell if the 1/4" outputs are balanced or unbalanced. I haven't been able to find that online. Do you know? I'm not sure if the 1/4" outputs are balanced...yet. If you plug a microphone into L1® Compact Channel 1, to you still get the hiss? No. There is no hiss from a mic directly into L1 compact channel 1. If you reverse the panning on everything (pan the instruments to L1® Compact Channel 1), do you...Read More...

How do I loop vocals using only one Microphone?

I have looped vocals in the past hooking another mic to my rc-30. But I have seen a couple performers loop vocals with there main vocal mic with L1 type 2 and T1 combo. How is this done? And does it cause a problem when I’m setting up a loop with my guitar while I’m singing?Read More...
Hi Edward, Thank you for joining the Community. I'm glad you're here. That's an interesting question and I think it boils down to: I used to have an Boss RC-30 and from what I recall, you cannot isolate the vocal microphone from the guitar or aux inputs when you create a phrase. Looking at the Boss RC-30 manual I couldn't see a way to do that. Maybe the other performers were using a different loop device. Maybe someone more familiar with the RC-30 will join the conversation. Concert setting/way too loud for us, audience complaining of not hearing

Tried my L1 is for the first time live. A big room, but not huge - 180 people or so. Yet, to get loud enough for the audience, 1. the white noise out of the system was truly obnoxious, and 2. the sound was searingly painful for the musicians. We were five ft from the system because that is the space we had. Also had feedback trouble. But the main problem was - how are we going to stand how loud it is for us when we're in a space like that? (Which is why we got the system.) What to do? The...Read More...

K&K Pure Mini with a T1?

Hello everyone! Hoping that someone can help guide me to finding a good setting with my T1 for my Goodall Grand Concert with a K&K pickup. I've gotten "okay" results with the overall "flat" setting, but it's far from sounding really good. If it helps any, my attack is medium-light (in general). I play with a hybrid style, using a flat pick and my remaining fingers (short nails). I play all different styles; some jazz standards, rock, blues, country... whatever I feel like playing! Hope...Read More...
Hi John Seth, the forum seems to be a bit quiet at the moment and you've had no answer to your question. Maybe this will help you on your way to finding something that works for you. Whenever I've not found an "obvious" preset for a guitar I've gone through them all (not tweaking at first) and made notes of any that may work. This is the first selection I make. I then do a more detailed selection of using the presets that I've made a note of. This time tweaking the sound until I get the best...Read More...

Yes, but it's not critical for DJ work. For a band, it helps to have the L1 behind the performers so that it can be used as a monitor.

Condenser mics with L1 system

I've been told that the L1 portable PA system does not come with phantom power for use with a condenser mic. I often used such mics for use with bluegrass vocal applications; with larger sound systems apparently one can purchase units that will provide the necessary juice for a condenser, but I am wondering if leaving it off the L1 was done on purpose because such mics might present feedback problems with the L1 functioning essentially as both a monitor and a main sound system. Could you...Read More...
Hi Peter, Thank you for your question. It's true that in general, condenser mics are more likely to produce feedback than a dynamic. You can use a condenser in conjunction with an L1; you'd just have to be a bit more careful with gain staging and positioning. I've talked with many customers who do use condensers successfully. As you pointed out, none of the current L1s have phantom power built directly into the system. The T1 ToneMatch mixer , however, does have phantom available for mic...Read More...

L1 1 Classic - Power LED flashing and CH1 & CH2 flashing Green to Red

I was essentially just running the Main out from a mixer in our practice room to the CH1, quite low volume as it is just vocals going through it for a practice room (and they are already going through foldback for the singers, this is more for the musicians to hear the vocals), when one day I turned the unit on and I got this error: The power LED glows orange-red for a small warm up time, at the same time CH1 & CH2 LED is Red, then after about 5 seconds the Power LED flashed green/off...Read More...

Martin GPCPA presets?

Thanks. That is helpful. I think I thought I would find a long list of various models and was not sure what to try when mine was not listed. I will try the selection you suggested and most of the other guitar presets and see what jumps out at me. Equalizing the amplified sound is not my thing. I don't want much, I just want...Read More...

Right you are... go with what works for you. Since I am in control of the ToneMatch and I am playing the HandSonic, I can easily control the volume direct from the HandSonic volume knob. For me this is best as sometimes I need to increase volume on low sounds like bell chimes.
