Dents in F1 812 front mesh covers

I stupidly let someone else carry one of the F1 tops on Saturday and now there are dents in the bottom two panels on one of the speakers. The metal is very soft and bends easily. Is it possible to remove these covers and straighten them? They had third party covers on (Bose ones far too expensive) but still got damaged even through the padding.Read More...
@kradcliffe , sorry to hear about the mishap. After decades of loading, unloading, setting up, sound checks and tearing down I've learned that no one cares more for your gear than you. Transporting gear could be a whole new topic. Folding platform trucks, dollies, hand trucks, folding wagons and brute strength to name a few. With Bose Portable PA, trips to and from the venue are greatly reduced. I use pick and hook sets successfully with metal mesh, but it takes time and patience. Let us...Read More...

Best Connections from Soundcraft ui24 Mixer to L1 Classic

Hello All, I am in a band that now uses 2 L1 Classics. We have a Soundcraft Ui24 digital Mixer that we put everything through. 2 Guitars acoustic and electric, Keys, Bass, Roland e-drums, 5 vocals. I have read all of the connection threads here, but I haven’t been able to see any specfic to this Mixer. The Mixer has a L and R out in XLR and 1/4 inch and currently we have everything panned to the center. On one of the L1s I have tried the XLR to XLR into Input 1 on the L1 to eliminate noise,...Read More...
Hi Perry, Sounds good. You don't need the R1 Remote - and I don't use it when I'm working with third-party mixer. It's simpler to do without. Will the L1 Classic still work without the R1 Remote ? The PS1 Power Stand (Classic) / Model I continuously senses activity at all preset selectors and what is connected at the input/output jacks . The PS1 Power Stand (Classic) / Model I can however function without the R1 Remote . If you power the PS1 Power Stand (Classic) / Model I on without the R1...Read More...

Hi Christopher, Welcome to the Bose Portable PA Community. Here is the part number for the fuse. T15A, 125V/250V, 6.3x32mm Do a web search for that part number and you'll find lots of sources. I doubt you can get the cap alone. You'll have to buy the hold fuse holder. You may have to do some hunting around to find a fuse holder for a 6.3x32mm fuse in order to find a compatible cap. Steinberger bass guitar through a T8S ToneMatch Mixer (Preset, settings)

We all use Sennheiser 935s. We have to get right on the mike (almost touching it) because it quickly loses its effectiveness by backing off even by one inch! SO if you bring up the volume to compensate, it's going to be prone for feedback. BTW< can anyone help me decide the best setting for a Steinberger bass guitar through a Tonematch 8? It's not listed in the choices and has a subtle (but unique) sound. I have it set as Active 1 ever since we got the system. edit tags: Bose Pro...Read More...
Hi Catmoondaddy, Please watch the video on this page so you'll know how to install the ToneMatch Presets that Steinberger mentioned above. ToneMatch Presets - Downloads The video shows how to install the ToneMatch Presets on a T1 but the process is the same with the T8S. STRead More...

Truly Acoustic Guitars

I’m thinking seriously about buying a Bose L1Compact, but I have one important question. Whenever possible, I like to perform with truly acoustic guitars (no transducers, pickups, etc). I always like playing in clubs where the sound people know how to find the sweet spot for a microphone in front of a guitar (these folks are generally old enough to be dinosaurs, like me). So . . . Will the Bose L1 function properly with a mic (with a 1/4 inch jack plugged into the instrument channel)? Or...Read More...
Hi TPNoble, As frustrating as it can be sometimes, the Bose portable line arrays are really designed for close miking. Closer than most guitarist can get if they actively strum their instrument. Typically getting great guitar sound through a mic to your audience is not all that easy. The best Bluegrass players usually have their guitars setup for volume, and their playing style is also aggressive, compared to a typical guitarist. If you pick up a small mixer, either Bose, or other, and make...Read More...

F1 Model 812 without the F1 Subwoofer

A friend of mine plays some pretty big solo acoustic shows and his L1 M2 with B2 and T1 just can't keep up. He's currently using another brand speaker out front and the L1 M2 behind him, but he's not really happy with this arrangement. We were discussing this and I was wondering if using a pair of F1 Model 812s without the F1 Subwoofer would do the would be better than adding another L1 M2. That said, I have a couple of questions: Can you use the F1 Model 812 "stand alone" without the...Read More...
Hi there ww did use L1 behind us and F1 system out front (either with or without subs depending on gig). However, the L1 packed up and Bose were not interested in even looking at it + local fixers couldn’t. Sickening that one problem with amp section means two bass units + column are useless. Good news is we bought two Alto Professional TX208 Powered Loudspeakers for £180 and they are superb. No front fill, but not needed with F1s.Read More...

Adjusting Trim, Volume and Feedback

I am a member of an acoustic duo. I know very little about sound system management. We need help! We are using an L1 II, B1 and 2 Tone Match 1 units. First TM1 is connected to the analog input on the L1. Second TM1 is connected to the digital input of the L1. Two Microphones go straight into channels 1 & 2 of the first TM1 . One Resonator Electric guitar runs through Boss pedals and Radial PZ-Pre Preamp to channel 4 of the first TM1 (this guitar needs a boost). One acoustic guitar goes...Read More...
Thanks to all of you for your help and suggestions. We took your advice and began from square one. We set the trim as recommended for each voice and instrument. Both vocal mics trim out very high. 3:00 (green, no yellow or red). We are right on top of the mics (Shure SM58's). Touching the wind screen. The L1 is slightly in front of us. We can set the mic channel volume at 12:00, add the instruments and get a decent balance, but when we start to turn up the master volume, we get feedback if...Read More...
