Hi Folks, I got my hands on an S1 Pro Backpack and took some pictures for you. Mug shot - The backpack is about 5 inches taller than the S1 Pro. Top down view. It's nice and compact, not much bigger than the S1 Pro. Top section open - inside flap (right side) closed. Top section open - inside flap open. Top open. You can see the cables now. I forgot to pack the T4S power supply. But I checked later, and it does fit. Total in the Back Pack, S1 Pro AC Power Cord T4S ToneMatch power supply...Read More...

Running a Model 2 with a standard analogue mixer

Hi gang I am doing a country show tomorrow which is a shared gig with two other players all doing a bit each and finally ending the night with all three of us playing out the show. We all individually have our own PA but being a Bose owner mine is probably the best of the three so I am thinking of setting up my Model 2 and B2 for us all to use, it's a select audience of around 120 so I am thinking the Model 2 on it's own would be more than adequate. Obviously my T1 doesn't have enough...Read More...
Hi Geoff, Great. Yes, if you connect the A & H mixer to the T1®. Don't connect the A & H mixer to the L1® Compact Channel 1. That input has a ToneMatch Preset (Vocal Microphone) built-in. That's not appropriate for a full range mix from the mixer. Yes, the T8S could simplify things in the future. You didn't mention how you are going to connect the two L1® Compacts. Are you planning to daisy-chain them? Notes -> Compact Daisy Chain For your gig (120 people, three performers) I...Read More...

L1 Model 2 cable to tone match

I have an L1 model 2 that I use for professional continuing education presentations. I have a presentation approaching during which I will need a long run of cable from the L1 to the Tone Match (50' or more). The supplied cable is about 14' long. What exactly do I need to buy in order to separate the Tone Match from the the L1 this distance away? Thanks for any help you can offer.Read More...
Hello, John. Up to fifty feet you can use a CAT-5 or CAT-6 network cable. For distances beyond that, consider getting at ToneMatch power supply to power the T1 and then a balanced cable (1/4 inch Tip-Ring-Sleeve) cable. You may have trouble sourcing a long 1/4" Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable so you can use an XLR cable (or two if necessary) with XLR to Tip-Ring-Sleeve adapters on the ends. You can find more details in this article. T1 Cables Bose Pro Community AdminRead More...

English Country Dance and Contra Dance - S1Pro, 2 L1m2, T4S

Ran sound for an English Country Dance, followed by same band, same venue (different caller) for a small Contra dance. I have mixed feeling about the S1Pro - I intended to use it as a monitor, if needed, but wound up using it as the main for the caller in each dance. It worked better than I expected and also not as well - more thoughts will follow.Read More...
And finally - a short clip showing the S1Pro with Hannah calling. Positive: This was fine for this small dance, with a T1 in-line. Negative: I did not get enough volume from the S1Pro with just an SM58 straight into channel 1. Putting a T1 in-line gave an acceptable volume. Positive: I ran the S1Pro on batteries - one less wire to route. Negative: While I was satisfied for this dance, the S1Pro does not have the wide dispersion of an L1. The "sweet" spot for Hannah's voice was narrower than...Read More...

T4S - channel pot volume control over music input

The only sensible way I can conceive of having fast control over music input is to use channel 4 with a stereo to mono cable i.e both left and right hot go to pin 1 combined feed. Plug this into channel 4 and I have “pot” controller over volume of music I don’t need to dig four levels deep in the master menu to find. If using two L1 systems and I want stereo I’ll use 3 & 4 for music input and pan them. I realise I lose two mic channels and this is not a resolution for everyone, to...Read More...
Hi ScubaBadger, If your source is an IOS or Android device, you can go set the output to mono. Then you don't need to short the left and right outputs together. You can use a 1/8" Tip-Ring-Sleeve to 1/4" Tip-Sleeve splitter. Use only one of the 1/4" jacks into Channel 4. STRead More...

Recent experience with S1 pro

My wife surprised me with a new S1 Pro for our anniversary after seeing how well our L1 M2 performs. My application for this was intended as a practice amp and portable PA for my Roland RD 700, portable PA for my singer-songwriter son, and Bluetooth background music. After trying this unit, I am disappointed in its performance. The piano sounds (which are great on my JBL monitors and L1) sounded compressed and lifeless. In addition, keyboard splits were distorted with rattling bass. The unit...Read More...
Yes, I'm beginning to wonder about that myself. I was especially surprised by the bass distortion when I used a split board with acoustic bass and rock piano. I heard buzzing and rattling which quieted when I turned down the bass voice level. However, the acoustic Roland 'Supernatural" piano voices did sound thin and compressed which is not what I am used to on my L1 M2. On a better note, Bose customer service was exemplary in getting the unit shipped back!Read More...

USB Playback issue

I've had an L1 Model II and Tonematch for years. I just picked up the T8S and have been trying it out. I'm trying to use the USB playback feature and I can't get it to work. Using two T1s into one L1 Compact

Yes, I need more channels, 3 x mics and two acoustic guitars. As I already have a T1 and L1 compact, I have just ordered a second T1. I'm wondering what the best way to hook these up would be. 1. I could daisy chain the two T1s giving me six inputs into the L1 Compact's line in. (safe option) 2. I could put one T1 into the L1's 1/4" jack and the other into the phonos? 3. I could put one into the L1's 1/4" jack and one onto the mic input with an XLR cable keeping the volume down? Any advice ...Read More...
So this may not be the advice that you want (and probably not what you deserve either!) but ST seems to have covered that pretty well. My advice would be: don’t. I used a compact with a tone match and my needs quickly out grew it. It was great, but when hitting low notes with any considerable volume (room bigger than a small one room coffee shop), I would experience some sort of limiting which would bring down the level of the Master Volume. If your needs are 7 different inputs, I believe...Read More...

T4S ToneMatch Mixer carry case ideas

ST
Hi, How are you carrying your T4S? Do you have an old laptop computer bag? The microphone cases fit in there nicely on either side. Under that flap is a generous pocket for cables and accessories. If necessary, this is big enough for the ToneMatch Power Supply. Here is the view from the top. And there's another generous pocket on the back. You're probably wondering where all the cables are. I have them strapped to my microphone stand. This is an older picture. I have a different mount for...Read More...
